Dr. Scott Powell is an Orthopedic Surgeon with offices in Burbank and Santa Monica, specializing in sports medicine, knee surgery, shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, and arthroscopic surgery. Orthopedic injury to any part of the body can be painful and restrict an active lifestyle, and bone, muscle, tendon or joint cartilage may be involved. Dr. Scott Powell is an expert in diagnosing and treating injuries to the upper and lower extremities, such as the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle.
Dr. Powell employs new, state-of-the art minimally invasive techniques utilizing innovative arthroscopic technologies to enhance healing and minimize pain. These techniques, including arthroscopic shoulder, knee and elbow surgery under local anesthesia, with nerve block and sedation, platelet rich plasma and joint lubrication injections, and fat-derived stem cell injections allow patients to recover more quickly with less discomfort. The Burbank office features an extremity MRI for patient comfort and convenience. Dr. Powell teaches these techniques to his colleagues at meetings in the United States, Europe, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Canada and Cuba. He has published chapters and articles in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Established in 1997.
Dr. Powell attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, completed Internship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and Residency in Orthopedics at Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Dr. Powell is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. In ’05, Dr. Powell co-founded Stetson Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Burbank with partner Bill Stetson.

In addition to a busy practice in Sports Medicine, Dr. Powell is active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has served on the Education Committee, the Fellowship Committee, and the Program Committee and has served on the Board of Directors from 2009 – 2012. He is active in the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, having served on the Technology Committee and the Council of Delegates. He is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is currently a member of the Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy Program Subcommittee. He has been elected a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
Dr. Powell has taught arthroscopic surgery to surgeons on six continents, from Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Egypt, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Spain, Italy, England, Germany, India, China, Hong Kong and Australia.
