The Black Tux

Bravo all around! I’m new to the SoCal area and I just recently ordered a tux from here. There’s nothing worse than having an uncomfortable tux and that is not the case with these. The fit is very comfortable. I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs a well fitted tux. I’m a new customer and I will definitely be returning.

Cool looking tuxedos the right price! We went to all the other places first (Men’s Warehouse, etc.) but those just weren’t doing it for us. So we went to the showroom in Santa Monica (highly recommend doing this, but only the bride and groom can go) to try it on.
Cut to the week before our wedding… all the groomsmen were able to get their tuxedos but when my fiancé’s was supposed to be delivered, the FedEx driver deemed our front door unsafe (we live in a secure apartment building) and didn’t leave it with us. That was a Saturday. So because FedEx Home Delivery only delivers Tues-​Sat, we didn’t get the tuxedo until Tuesday morning (remember our wedding was on that Sunday) and the groom had to drive to Sun Valley to pick up the shipment because we didn’t want to risk the package not being delivered again. Not the way you want to spend the beginning of your wedding week! I HIGHLY recommend that you ship your tuxedo to a FedEx location, rather than Home Delivery to avoid the problem we had!

The flexibility of the rental period for plane travel to an event is key. The ease of requesting and receiving replacement items was fantastic, and the easy drop off return before my flight was the clincher. Great service!

Ordered a suit for a company holiday event. Customer service was fantastic, especially considering it was a rush job as I procrastinated ordering. Great value, will definitely use again.

Ordered for a black tie charity event. Had heard about BLK TUX and preferred to give them a try for the convenience of not having to find, schedule and visit a tux rental. Sizing and options made it super easy to get fitted and find something that looked sharp, at a competitive price. The Tux came in perfectly on time and looked great. For the most part, I was very happy with everything that arrived, though I felt that pants were an inch too long and suit jacket shoulders slightly off. Next time I’ll probably plan a little further in advance and stop in the BLK TUX showroom to get it tailored a bit. Nevertheless, the convenience, customer service and quality made everything so worth it. I will definitely be using BLK TUX again!
Only recommendation: more style suggestions and instructions on how to suit up and set up!

Recently got married and choose to go the online route vs. the traditional suit shop. I have to tell you that my in-​laws were VERY nervous about putting our tux’s in the hands of a web based company. I was blown away by the ease, the quality, and the world class customer service (I worked with «Sarah D»). I WILL recommend them to everyone I know for any occasion. I am 5’11 and 175lbs and do like my suits a bit more on the slim side… with a little more taper in the pants it would have been perfect. Other than the taper in my pants, everyone’s suits fit perfectly, arrived on time, and there were no issues. The suits appeared literally brand new, if you are thinking about using The Black Tux, stop thinking and pull the trigger. They will not disappoint!

The whole process was easy. Sizing was spot on and the suit was spectacular! Many compliments on the suit and it was a rental! Go figure haha, thanks «THE BLK TUX»!!

I got married back in September of 2015, and I used The Black Tux to rent tuxes for my four groomsmen.
The original tuxes sent to three of my groomsmen fit perfectly. My fourth groomsman, my brother-​in-​law (who is about 6’4″), received pants that were both too big and too long.
Over the course of the next two days, my brother-​in-​law e-​mailed them (got no response), and called them twice (got hold music both times… got disconnected after 10 – 15 minutes each time without speaking to a representative). The fourth time, he finally got through. He explained his situation, and they said they would send him new pants, but they would charge him $ 25 for expedited shipping (they live in New York). At the time, the website had a guarantee that said they would send replacement clothes for free. They have since slightly amended this guarantee.
Anyway, my brother-​in-​law tells me this, and I call them, explaining to them that we are not paying any shipping costs because of their free replacement guarantee, and without even the slightest bit of argument, the woman on the phone says «fine, we’ll make a special exception for this case». It was weird to me that they didn’t even put up a fight here, but I was happy that they were going to ship the replacement pants for free.
My brother-​in-​law got his replacement pants, and they fit perfectly. In the end, the tux fit and quality was all great, but they get dinged two stars for questionable customer service.

Overall, I thought they did a pretty good job with my wedding tuxedo rental. I went to an actual rental place in SF before I decided to go with the BlackTux. I changed my mind once I saw the quality and lack of options of that brick and mortar location offered as well as the price difference. The quality of tuxedo that the Black Tux offered was good for a rental. Sizing for all the groomsmen was super easy and they were able to get it done using a tailor around them which was convenient.

Here’s what you guys have to do ASAP:
Open the welcome email from TheBlackTux that will be sent to you. It invites you to create an account for your wedding event and includes easy instructions on how to enter your size information for the look I have chosen and you’ll have to checkout to complete the order. The cost for each rental will be approximately $ 115 (Tux is $ 95, and Shirt is $ 15, +$ 5 damage waiver).

NOTE: When you guys checkout you will be required to insert your desired shipping address. Because rentals arrive one week prior to an event date, I highly recommend that rentals are shipped to where each groomsmen will be located one week before the event. (I.e Where will you be on _​_​_​_​_​) This way everyone will be able to try on the rental immediately once you receive it, and if there are any fit issues, it ensures that TheBlackTux will have enough time to express ship exchanges if necessary.

What happens if my rental doesn’t fit?
You MUST try on your tuxedo within 24 hours of delivery.
If for some reason your order doesn’t fit, their Fit Guarantee has you covered. Here are your options:
1. For only sleeve and pant length alterations, you are welcome to have a local tailor or dry cleaner adjust the sleeve or pant length. Be sure to give the tailor this instruction sheet, and email TheBlackTux a copy or drop the receipt in your return box. They will refund your account up to $ 15 (see their Customer Rental Agreement). Important note: make sure to specify to the person performing the alteration that extra fabric is not to be cut or removed!
2. For sizing issues concerning the jacket shoulders/​body, pant waist/​seat, shirt neck/​body, vests, and shoes, TheBlackTux will send you another item. You may return all items to TheBlackTux after your event. For requests received after 24 hours of delivery, additional shipping charges may apply.
How does my rental get to me?
TheBlackTux ships your tuxedo via FedEx to arrive one week before your event. Tracking information will be emailed to you when your order ships. Delivery signatures are not typically required, however, if you are having the order shipped to an address where the delivery service will not leave packages at the door, they suggest using an alternate address or having the order shipped to a nearby FedEx delivery center.
What address should I ship my rental to?
TheBlackTux strongly advise having your order shipped to the address where you will be exactly seven (7) days prior to the wedding. This will allow maximum time to try on the order and contact TheBlackTux should there be any fit issues. Since most orders are delivered on a Saturday, they recommend using your primary residential address. Please do not ship your order to a venue location that you plan to be at less than 7 days in advance. It is always best receive your tuxedo on time, and TheBlackTux designed their garment bag for easy travel.
When does my rental arrive?
Your order will arrive 7 days before the wedding. All orders are shipped from TheBlackTux’s warehouse in Los Angeles, CA.
In what type of box is my rental shipped?
TheBlackTux ships in a high quality corrugated box. Tuxedos will arrive folded once on hangers in garment bags.

I was the groom for my wedding on 01/​09/​2016 with 6 other groomsmen and the suits fit everyone perfectly. They arrived exactly a week before the big day as promised and made it very easy to return with a prepaid printed return shipping label ready to go. They also assign you a personal concierge who sends out emails to everyone in the party to remind them to turn in their measurements, purchase the suits on time and to answer any questions you may have. Sarah was great as she responded to emails and address any concerns/​issues on the same/​next day. Also, it doesn’t matter where in the country you live as everything arrives on time. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone for their wedding or formal event.

Great fit and outstanding customer service. I’ve rented from The Black Tux twice now, and both times I’ve requested replacement sizes on an item or two. They have arrived on time, every time. I’ve worn a lot of other rental tuxes and never received the amount of compliments I do when I’m in one of these. I’ll be back again and again.

My son was married in California. I live in South Carolina. He ordered my tux from The Black Tux to be sent to him. It arrived exactly when they said it would. It fit PERFECTLY. The shoes fit as well or better than my own (I wanted to keep them). This company did everything they said they would do. They even offered to pay for tailoring if it was needed after I received the tux. The tux fit so well no tailoring was needed. This is a great company with a great product and great service. I highly recommend them. Businesses like this need to be recognized and promoted.

The quality of the tux that I rented didn’t validate the high cost. I think I could have gotten a very similar tux at a typical tuxedo rental place with the added benefit of a wider selection.
With that being said, their customer service team and «fit guarantee» are really great. My jacket was too small and I got the next one in a few days.
Their damage/​lost item fees are higher than I had anticipated. Everything is way overpriced and definitely not their true acquisition costs — $ 50 for a pocket square that probably costs $ 7 at Macy’s.
I probably wouldn’t use this again unless they got some more selection or reduced their prices — I don’t really see the benefit to picking this over a place where you can go in and try stuff on more than a week before your event.

I couldn’t be more satisfied with their service. The suit was above my expectations and the fit was right on point. To say that I looked good and yes, I am tooting my own horn, is an understatement. The Fabulous Daughter Dinner Dance went off without a hitch and I made my daughter the princess at the event. I will definitely be using this service again and again. I had a black tie wedding and wanted to step it up without having to buy a new Tuxedo. The midnight blue Tux was perfect and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Let me hit on a couple notes for those considering this service.
Tip:
1. I got my measurements done by a tailor who routinely fits my clothes. This is key. Make sure you get all the sizes needed as its more then just your pant, shirt and coat size.
2. Don’t wait until the last minute.
The service:
These guys & ladies were top notch in helping me get my order and once it arrived and the jacket was too big, they sent out a replacement right away. Follow up email and (actual) phone calls to make sure everything fit. Even though this is an online service, they’re real people, not robots running it.
The quality:
I was really impressed by the suit I got. Shoes were brand new, pretty sure I was the first person to wear them and the suit felt and looked like a fantastic quality. Also liked how you could dial it up or down with accessories.
The price:
Totally worth it.

I was a groomsman in a wedding that utilized The Black Tux for all of the groomsmen. I could not have been more disenchanted.
If you are considering using them, please consider men’s warehouse or any of the other tuxedo rentals before this service. The tuxes are of mediocre quality and the shoes are even worse. They send the tux with limited time (1 week) to make alterations which nearly all of the groomsmen required. Additionally, not all of the required items came to everyone. It took 2 days for a member of the customer service team to contact me undoubtedly because hundreds of weddings had these same issues.

I have to say you guys are awesome! My girlfriend used an online rental service for her dress (renttherunway) and had nothing but problems. You guys are fast, courteous, and prepared for any emergency adjustments that might be needed. Thanks for making my sister’s wedding easy, fun, and worry free (at least in terms of the tuxes).
