Specialties

Welcome to the Realm Creative Academy, (formerly known as Outside the Box), an enrichment center developed to help students of all ages seize their greatness! We offer all sorts of fun after school and weekend classes, tutoring, and home school programs.

History

Established in 2009.

The Realm Creative Academy (formerly known as Outside the Box) grew in response to the lack of creative outlets for children in many of the schools and communities today. As more emphasis is continually being placed upon test scores as a means for determining a child’s level of success, we have noticed extremely talented and powerful children losing faith in their academic and artistic potential.

After many brainstorm sessions with immensely passionate educators, artists and parents, Outside the Box began to take shape. We realized the potential for change was greatest if we could offer a versatile space in which diverse groups of students could receive support both individually and within group classes. We set out to develop exciting, crazy, diverse classes in both the academics and the arts (and of course the combination of the two!). Our mission to help kids Seize their Greatness!

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

We are at a crossroads in education today — and here is where I get excited: we have the power to reinvent what educating our children can look like. I have a deep seeded belief that has only been strengthened by my nine years teaching in public, charter and private schools from Harlem to Santa Monica. I have run a theater and brought theater programs to many inner city schools throughout Chicago. I have traveled with Newark High School students to New Zealand in order to broaden their perspective about the world in which they live. I have seen sparks of greatness and moments of brilliance when children are honored for who they are and are presented with opportunities in which to shine.

I believe that as a country, by continuing to depend on a ‘one size fits all’ style of education we are neglecting to discover and develop the true talents and strengths of the majority of our students.
