I’ve gotten the pork chops, the BBQ marinated chicken, the lemon pepper marinated chicken, the plain chicken breasts and thighs and they have all been out of this world. Highly recommend.
The BBQ sauce they sell is the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been going to Von’s next door for years. I’m just not happy with the quality of their meat. I decided to go to Lairds. So glad I did. Love the quality of the meat there. If you don’t see it they might have it. I wanted ground lamb and they had it. Love that you can get it the way you want it. They also have knowledgable people there who know about meat so you can ask questions. Great customer service.

Very yummy sandwiches. I ordered a turkey and a pastrami for my husband. Delicious sides. Red potato salad very good. Macaroni salad a little mayo-​ey for my taste, but that’s my only complaint. Super soft French roll bread, perfectly cut meat. Friendly service and employees. Will definitely be trying the tri-​tip sandwich next time!!!
What impressed me the most were the amazing looking cuts of meat in here. It looked beautiful. An actual butcher! Cannot wait to return so I can purchase some rib eye!!!

I have been going to this butcher shop back when my dad would have pigs there to be prepared. They no longer do that but I still go here because they take pride in cutting and preparing their meat. I find that the quality and customer service is always top notch. I wouldn’t pick a grocery store chain meat over their high quality meat. Definitely a local shop I will continue to shop at for many years to come.

So I went to order a turkey for Thanksgiving. That was easy enough the guy who helped me seemed a bit unsure of it but took my name and phone number. I asked if I needed to leave a deposit-​he said «No». I asked about when they would be in-​I specifically asked him will it be in before Thanksgiving week-​His reply,“oh absolutely they will be here the week before” fast forward til today November 19^th– I went in the store saw the same guy and I said I ordered a turkey and you said they’d be here this week. He says loudly «No I didn’t» I was taken aback by his rudeness and so was a customer standing next to me who actually laughed. I asked again because it was in fact the same individual (with a beard) who said it would be here he repeats loudly «No I didn’t, no I didn’t, no I didn’t and shakes his head» I reminded him of the conversation he still denied it– then says the turkeys are here but they are still on the truck??? I have lived in santa paula for 20 years and was ready to give the place a try but with that rudeness-​forget it. All he had to say was I’m sorry sir maybe you were confused or something like that and I’d be cool with it, but this guy was all about being right– good luck because I’ll tell everyone who’ll listen

Still love this place! They have expanded the selection of products that they sell. Best butcher in Ventura County by far with outstanding customer service. Keep it up Gary and the rest of the guys.

Quality meats, quality service, and their sandwiches are awesome! They’ve been in santa paula for so many years for a reason.
Bread used in their sandwiches is super soft. Wife and I split a turkey and a pastrami. Both were very good, with hand cut meat. Also got a side of their macaroni salad. I usually like mine a bit dry with not so much mayo like this one, but… I don’t think I’ve ever eaten macaroni salad this fast in my life! It has a tangy and slightly sweet flavor to it.
Bottom line: everything was very good and we’ll be coming here more often. Next up on our list: one (or some) of their many flavored sausages, chorizo, and we may have found our new thanksgiving place

I agree with all the great reviews! I come here for the gigantic, meaty ribs and the HUGE smoked ham hocks for my beans that have become beans and shredded pork. Their ribs are cut in such a way that it’s basically a bone with 2 large sides of meat. Tried to order some today, but was told they were out. They were delivered the usual supermarket ribs by mistake, and refused them. «No use for them». No scrawny, meatless ribs here! I come from Camarillo, and would probably travel farther. Their custom cut Porterhouse and New York steaks are to die for, and don’t forget the house made hot Italian sausages, Bacon wrapped prawns and the «Rocky jr.» Free range, hormone/​antibiotic free chickens. Damn, where are my keys?!?

They serve sandwiches in the back. Meat stacked high and all sorts of potato, mac and varies other salads come on the side + a pickle spear. All for $ 7.50. I like the tri tip.
Not much seating there but that shouldn’t hold you up.

I’ve loved Lairds ever since I was a kid and I would go in with my aunt so she could flirt with the butchers and buy her meat each week.
Every year I’ve made it a tradition to buy my meat for Super Bowl Sunday. My husband calls the Monday before and we pick it up the day before the game. Every year except this year when they decided they no longer wanted our business. It wasn’t just the fact that they got rid of our order, but that they didn’t care. After calling several butcher shops in the county I found one who could accommodate us last minute, and they will now get our business each year.

Been going here for years. Without a doubt the best butcher shop in the area! Santa Paula is lucky to have them. All the people here are knowledgeable, professional, and extremely friendly. :-)

This Butchershop is as good as it gets. Always the absolute best meats. BUT the big secret — If you really want to go all out for the Holidays, order the standing rib or the prime. OMG!

Amazing! I can’t believe there aren’t more reviews on this place. It must be Santa Paula’s hidden secret. Everything was so fresh. And the prices are incredible for the quality. The guy answered all of my questions on where thy get their products from. We got the porterhouse steaks, and my husband was so impressed by the size, quality, and price. I will definitely going to become a regular. Can’t wait to try the homemade chorizo.

Best butcher shop around. When you walk through the door, it smells incredibly good. Very clean with only the best meats. They sell grass fed beef, not the crappy assembly line type of beef. Get their own, smoked in house, thick bacon for the best breakfast ever.
