Not impressed with this place! The waiter was rude. When we ordered our entrees we got an appetizer instead and when I tried to tell him, he argued with me and got huffy. Asked for more water and didn’t you it. Tried to use our coupon and he said NO! Really? We had to straighten it out with the manager. Apparently the owners don’t read the reviews.

I wanted to take my employees out for dinner. I had made a reservation for 11 people for the Hibachi table. I called three days prior to the date and they had not written it down. That should have been my first clue. As we started arriving, they said they would seat us when our entire party had arrived. We waited in the bar area. There was no bartender. I would have liked to order everyone a drink. As we waited more and more people showed up and were told the same thing. Eventually there were over 40 people in the waiting area. At some point a man, his wife and child walked in and wanted to be seated right away. He asked to see the manager. In front of 40 people they sat him first. The guy was a real jerk. But, this also added to my irritation. It appeared that they told everyone they could have the Hibachi tables that night. Pure greed. After 45 minutes of waiting I had had enough. It was a busy Saturday night. Now what was I going to do with everyone for dinner. Luckily we were able to get into another restaurant. I spent $ 1,300 that night on drinks appetizers and dinner somewhere else. The restaurant also looked neglected. The bathroom ceiling was duct taped together. The photos on the walls were hung crooked. And a huge bar with no bartender? This place is horrible.

*edited*** Both my boyfriend and I got sick last night after eating their sushi. I did a few hours after. My boyfriend has been sick all night and today with terrible food poisoning. I would give five stars for our waiter!!! He was soo nice and attentive. The place was packed tonight because of graduation and the manager seemed stressed and was rushing his staff. Our waiter was under a lot of pressure, but he had an amazing attitude and made sure my boyfriend and I were happy. We went for the all you can eat sushi, which was pretty good. But our waiter made the experience better! Thank you(young white guy with beard) **

Hikuni really has been steadily declining from once they first opened. What started out as fine dining has now been transformed into something quite the opposite. No money is being put into the upkeep of this establishment or quality in their foods. Their sushi rolls might as well be called rice rolls with the amount of rice that is used in a single roll. It is so dense that you are paying money for cheap rice instead of quality fish. I am no longer just fed up on rice, but this restaurant as well. Their servers are no where near trained in customer service and always seem to want to be anywhere but here. They do not smile, engage or check up on the customers what so ever. Poor service, poor food, poor establishment. I highly recommend taking your sushi cravings elsewhere.

I keep trying to like this place because it’s a close location to where my friends meet for weekly walks and we love the idea of the all you can eat sushi. However I can no longer tolerate the problems that continue to mount each time we dine here. The sushi isn’t bad, they have delicious yellowtail, salmon and tuna. The rolls are decent, although some have too much sauce on them. It isn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had, but it was fine until they raised their prices a month or so ago. The service is always deplorable; we are either ignored, forgotten or our food is mixed up. The staff does not even attempt to seem warm, inviting or welcoming. They mixed up four separate tables on one of our visits and on another, they forgot two of our rolls. They never refill beverages or check in on us. They have even argued with us about sending out the wrong items and have never offered any sort of apology or compensation for their mistakes. There wasn’t necessarily one specific thing that triggered my frustration this particular visit, but I’m sick of being treated like a nuisance to their establishment. I’d rather take my business elsewhere from now on.

Kind of a strange place service wise. We arrived a little early and asked if we could wait at the bar and have a glass of wine while we wait for the rest of our party. We were told to go ahead and IF someone comes by you can ask them for a drink. My wife and I looked at each other and busted up. So pretty much, just go sit down and if we happen to feel like it, we’ll serve you. The atmosphere is pretty bland in the hibachi area and not much attention was paid to give it a more Asian feel. As for the food, it was ok and the cook preparing our food was personable enough. Obviously the only comparison I can make is too Beni Hana and this place falls way short. Would I return? Only if the party I was with wanted to but would I suggest this place… uh, no.

I went to Hikuni with 6 friends for a birthday celebration. We sat around the hot grill while our chef entertained us with a theatrical preparation of grilled steak, chicken and salmon, some veggies and fried rice. It was a real show! A lot of fun watching him perform. Be careful though of the alcohol fueled flame he begins with… I was close to having some hair singed by the pyrotechnics that began the show. The food quality was good, not exceptional but good, the service was sufficient although we asked for a table just for our party and they agreed then promptly seated a couple not in our party to fill out the table. All in all a good time was had but mainly because our chef was a very good entertainer, even scooping a rice bowl, flipping it and putting a candle in it for our birthday girl. And they treated her with a free ice cream cake slice for dessert.

I’m not sure why I ever returned here. I came in tonight with a group of 5 for the all you can eat sushi. It’s one of the only places in Sonoma county that offers that, so for that I’m giving it 2 stars. None of the sushi was great or a stand out(we ordered 11 rolls!). The wasabi was very weak and gave no kick to the bland sushi. The service is lackluster and the place is always messy. Literally 2 people walked out of the restroom with toilet paper stuck to their shoes because it was so wet in there. I will not be returning.

Will not come here again. Place is grimy and the food is mediocre. Took my friends for the first time thinking it would be a good experience and they we were all disappointed. Not good and sub par Japanese food.

Not really impressed. I heard great things about this place and well. I wasn’t impressed food was okay. Service was blah. The waitress was watching me like a hawk like I stole something. The cook was Mexican and claiming he was Chinese. I just wouldn’t go back.

I am sitting in the restaurant as I type this… I will list the things wrong with this place: 1. The hostess doesn’t say hi. Just looks at you. 2. The waitress first word is «what do you want?» 3. The soda is flat. 4. I am sitting next to the sushi bar. To separate me from the sushi makers, is a fabric wall. It is disgusting. Dead fly, cobwebs, old food. Soy sauce stains. Boogers. 5. I want the all you can eat. I select 5 rolls. Between two people. «That is too much.» is the response we receive. 5 rolls?!? Between 2 people? Fine. We take off 2 because the max is 3. We wait and wait. 6. Bathroom looks like a gas station bathroom from route 5 on the way to LA. Dusty, dirty, and just disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my dog. ****UPDATE: When received food — hair in FOOD.****

It was my first hibachi experience and not very impressive. The cook was friendly and made good conversation. The food itself: not so great. The«veggies» served with the meal was made up of mostly onions, very little of anything else. What was even more of a disappointing jaw dropper was the bill. Simply put: overpriced. Top dollar charged for low quality food.(Example the salmon was already brown)… To be fair, i had tried their all-you-can-eat which was ok about three yrs ago. Cant say ill be going back.

I’m not one to give out bad reviews unless there is something REALLY wrong with a place. I spent many years working in retail food and I know that every place can have an off night. That being said, the dirt and grime on the walls, on the floor, on the furniture and in the bathroom weren’t from an off night. This was built-up, disgusting filth that took months, if not years to accumulate. In the ladies room there was dust on the upper surfaces that was so thick and greasy that it was a solid mass. The paper towels were not in a dispenser, the roll of towels was on the dirty counter in a pool of water. I shook my hands dry. In the restaurant, everywhere you looked there was filth. Everywhere. Unless I see this place closed for a solid month of nothing but cleaning, I will NEVER go back. Never.

I’m only giving one star because our chef Pedro was very nice, cooked our food perfectly, and had a fun personality. Also because I can’t give a zero! He was the ONLY thing that made me not get up & walk out! I came here with my 2 sons for my 11 year old sons birthday. He wanted to experience the hibachi dinner where they cook in front of you. We were seated promptly but waited 25 minutes before we even got water. Then after another 10 minutes they took our order. My oldest son ordered a sushi roll instead of hibachi. That roll came out within 10 minutes as we waited another 25 minutes before our chef rolled out with our food to cook. Now my son eating sushi was done w his dinner while we were still waiting for our chef to finish at other tables. When I asked a server that walked by why we were waiting so long he said they only had 2 chefs that night. Mind you, every hibachi station was taken! Pedro cooked our food efficiently but I was annoyed already, trying to put on a happy face for my bday boy. We told them it was his bday & if they could sing for him or do whatever special thing they do for bdays. Yeah, that never happened!!! After fishing our meal & the chef left, we sat another 20 minutes waiting for our bill. I finally walked up front to ask for our bill, after another 5+ minutes they figured out which one was mine. 2 hours of chaotic horrible customer service!!! I will never come here again! The food quality was horrible, we left hungry & had to stop for dessert since they never came to sing happy bday & ask if we wanted dessert!!! Don’t waste your $$ here people!!! There is filth stuck to the walls, the bathrooms were dirty, and nobody was friendly. I could have dine & ditched & they would have never known… Disgusting!

I have to say this place really has gone down hill. Used to be one of my favorite places but the quality of food has been less impressive every time I go. The sushi is still fairly good but the portions have about cut in half. Same with the hibachi grill. Lesser quality meat cuts. I still love the food though it’s not as great as it was when it first opened. Hope they make some improvements since the amount of money you pay should reflect in the food n service.

Came here for a late sushi dinner during the week. No other customers to be seen with an hour ’til closing. Sat down and briskly was handed some menus. We smelled an old, nasty mop smell, you know when the water never gets changed, mixed with a Windex kind of smell. It was very humid inside. We were looking over the menu & had a pretty good idea of what to order. Then mop guy comes up and starts mopping around our bar stool chairs. We left, and haven’t been back since.

If you want quality sushi go somewhere else. This place is the worst. First I waited about one hour for two rolls and sashimi. Once I started on my eel roll I got the most unpleasant surprise the eel was hard I had to spit it out on my napkin. Management didn’t seem to care about my complaint, also I got there one hour before other people and they got their rolls with in 15 minutes. I kept waiting for my order and waiting and once I got my food I was totally grossed out! Don’t waste your time and money here.

I love taking my daughters here because their young still and love sushi so it’s a cheaper way to get them all the sushi they. It’s the right price for all you can eat and the sushi is decent. I also enjoy the hibachi grill and its well worth the trip during the lunch special hours. It’s a great deal. Also the servers are very pleasant and attentive. I always enjoy my time here. The prices are pretty steep during dinner time. You get more for you buck during lunch

Fantastic hibachi show every time, and we love the hibachi food. Sushi is good as well. Lose 2 stars because the service SUCKS. No matter which server we get, he or she is as slow as molasses. I usually have to track them down(literally GETUPFROMOURTABLE and search for our server) to ask for anything… such as our drinks that we ordered 20+ minutes ago(again, this happens EVERYTIME we’ve been there, which is probably 5x/year). And forget a second round of drinks. The server is MIA and will not be back to check on you after dropping off soup/salad at hibachi table. If they could get some attentive servers, this place would be fantastic. Wish there were some competition in town so we could go elsewhere, but alas, we’re stuck with this shiz if we’re craving hibachi. :(
