History

Established in 1999.

I opened my travel agency in 1999 in a tiny office suite on Farmers Lane, across from the Flamingo Hotel. In 2003 I brought my growing business home to Evelyn Drive where I have operated since, as a home-​based, by-​apointment-​only full service travel agency. I am affiliated with Nexion, a mega travel agency, and can offer the benefits of a large volume agency to my clients, while offering my highly personalized service. Benefits of my mega agency connection include discounted group rates on many cruises, discounted business class tickets and best hotel rates.

I received my credential from Echols Travel Institute in San Francisco in May, 1988. My first job in a travel agency was at Now, Voyager Travel in the Castro in San Francisco. My further on-​the-​job training was over several years working at The Hill Travel (later Ask Mr. Foster/​The Hill Travel) on Potrero Hill in San Francisco. Following the big earthquake of 1989, my husband and I moved to Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. I worked at a Marin County agency for two years, then Anton Travel in Sebastopol. Finally several years at Galaxsea Cruises in Santa Rosa, and at last, when my airline reservation system became available on a PC, I struck out on my own as Vivian V. Russell Travel.
