This place is amazing and the coaches and staff are great.. Don’t hesitate just sign up !! My daughter loves this place its a lot of fun.

SO grateful to be at a place where our children are respected, valued, and put first above all else. This is our third gym and apparently, «third time’s a charm» couldn’t ring any truer.
I would absolutely recommend all in SD to try this gym when looking for a gym home for your children.

I only give this place one star because I have to so I can write a review otherwise I would give zero stars.
It’s been years since my daughter did gymnastics at CGC and I am sure many things have changed since but recent event have me shaking my head so I felt compelled to share my experience.
One of the reasons I selected Champion Gymnastics and Cheer (CGC) was because I wanted a smaller gym where my daughter would get more one-​on-​one. Often times, she was one of two or three in the class. I thought this was great at first, but too many times, a less qualified instructor would coach my daughter. This was a huge waste of time!
Without mentioning names, an older woman with long nails would work with my daughter, and my two year old would come home with scratches all over her little body. I tried not to let it bother me, because I felt like it wasn’t intentional but this should have been my first red flag.
When my daughter moved up, I was asked to wait in a designated waiting room which was filthy. I chose to wait outside rather than deal with the filth. The bathrooms were equally disgusting. I couldn’t help but to notice that everywhere I looked, the place needed to be cleaned. There were black hand prints all over the walls inside the gym and the equipment showed signs of grime. The floors were rarely vacuumed, and there was always bits of junk on the tumbling mats. I even offered to clean while my daughter was in her class since it was so bad.
As if the filth and terrible instruction weren’t enough, we finally called it quits when we became aware of inappropriate relationships that developed at the gym. I recently contacted an investigator to discuss my concerns about my past experiences and observations at the gym as a tip line was set up due to new developments.
I originally outlined those developments here on Unilocal but those details were not firsthand knowledge (and because someone complained), my review was taken down. After a quick revision, this is what I can post and I would encourage you to do a quick goggle search to help you find additional information. I’m surprised this place is still in business.
Bottom line, and based on my firsthand experience and observations, the morals, values and ethical standards at CGC are non existent. It’s definitely not a place where I would allow my child or teen to take gymnastic or even hang out. The lack of skill to teach gymnastic with some instructors is not worth the money or time. If you are lucky, you or your child might have a skilled instructor but the lack of boundaries in their working relationship is still questionable.
If you’re thinking about signing your child up at this place, I would strongly encourage you to look at other gyms in the area. The YMCA and Elite are by far a more professional and a safer option. We have tried both and we love Elite by comparison. It does cost a bit more but if you chat with the owner, there are ways to reduce your costs by helping with their events. I have even found smaller classes where my daughter gets the one-​on-​one instruction we were first looking for.
After our experience at CGC we stopped gymnastic altogether because it difficult to trust people with our daughter. We decided to wait until she was a bit older to try again. That gap of time set her back with her desire to advance in the sport. Please avoid the mistake we made and start somewhere else.
Lastly, protect yourself from CGC spam. After numerous requests to stop the spam, we finally had to block CGC, their Facebook requests and their LinkedIn requests. We were bombarded with these email after email. We have not experienced this level of unsolicited emails ever.
Best of luck to you parents and students. Trusting the people you work with and the people who work with your family members shouldn’t be a scary thing.

For over 5 years, CGC has provided a safe, clean, and professional environment for our child to advance her tumbling skills. JJ has been an outstanding coach, motivating and encouraging the athlete to overcome obstacles and achieve her goals. He has taught our child to persevere, be disciplined, and instilled mental toughness. Highly recommend scheduling a tumbling private with JJ!

This a professional and clean facility dedicated to the athletes. Members of this gym not only learn tumbling and gymnastics skills but also skills such as team work, dedication, and perseverance. The wholesome coaching that is found here can not be replicated.

Words can’t explain the amount gratitude I have for CGC. From the environment it has created to the people who have created it. JJ has for the last 14+ years of my life been my icon. The man who has taught me everything from discipline to work ethic. Because of him I am the man I have become today. I couldn’t begin to express the amount of gratitude I have for JJ and his family. This facility he has built from ground up is used to not only train gymnastics/​one of the worlds far most difficult and demanding sports but also to help train kids and young adults like myself how to be motivated, strong, focused, and disciplined. Thank you Champions and the Ross family for being my family. Without you all I wouldn’t be where I am today!

Cool gym. Came here for my son’s meet. It’s well kept and the huge ceiling fans are awesome and provides a lot of good air.

We recently joined Champion Gymnastics and my girls are thrilled. From the initial phone call through the first free trial class to present time, all employees and coaches have been warm, welcoming and displayed great customer service. There is a professional yet family feel to this gym. The gym may be smaller than competing gyms but has all the necessary equipment for learning and progressing. My girls are excited to go to class, they are challenged to excel and are learning in a strict yet playful environment.

Big facility and lots of equipment to utilize. I do however feel like there’s a lot of time wasted in the young kids class. 45 minute class equates to 5 minutes in water breaks and chatting, 15 – 20 minutes of warmup, 5 minutes at the end to jump on the trampoline or swim in the foam pit and the rest is actual gymnastics. Everyone is nice and really good to the kids so I’m torn on staying with 2 times a week and maybe will eventually try out another facility. The part I HATE… it’s super filthy in the waiting areas and the bathrooms. Drives me crazy.
10÷8÷15 just started at elite gymnastics down the street and the difference is amazing! Took off one star from original review for cgc seeing a comparable gymnastics facility. Lower monthly and no yearly registration fee on top of it!

My girls started at CGC about 2 weeks ago and they’re hooked! The coaches are attentive and patient with the children. The gym is clean and full of positive energy! We love it and plan to keep coming back!

Jj and the staff are amazing. They are strict but still allow you to have fun. The facility is immaculate. It is always super clean and organized. JJ is so dedicated to this gym. He gives it his all. This is probably the best gym I have been to.

JJ and crew are amazing. We were formerly with a National Training Center with coaches from the National team. Our daughter learned more in 2 months (in the homeschool program) with Champion than 4 years at the National Center. My wife and 2 children moved down to be closer and attend JJ’s Home School Program, definitely a difficult but rewarding choice. This is one of those places that parents would move hundreds of miles to attend and be lucky to have the opportunity. Champion’s training is structured, extensive and goal oriented. They have brand new equipment that allows the girls to progress in stages without fear of injuries due to repetitive pounding, common in this sport. They are not as well known as some of the other California Gyms, but I’m sure this will quickly change in the near future. I can’t recommend this gym highly enough. If we hadn’t found them, we would have missed the opportunities for our daughter. They only have a limited career lifetime, and Champion has been able to bring her skills to the level needed for advancement in this incredibly difficult sport.

What an amazing gym, with great owners and amazing coaches. The gym makes you feel right at home from the first time you walk-​in; and the coaches have a great fun teaching method with our girl always wanting to be there. With the expansion, this will be the gym in SD

My Family has been a part of CGC for a year. We love it! We have three daughters that participate in the gymnastics program. My two older daughters are part of the competitive team, as gymnasts they have been challenged, encouraged, and inspired. They treat each girl as an individual that has value no matter what they bring to the gym. They are constantly encouraged to be the best they can be. When the gymnast has a tough time with a new skill or needs to overcome a fear the coaches encourage the girls and work with them to conquer the skill. All of the coaches are amazing and incredibly passionate about the sport and the success of each gymnast.
As CGC expands it will not only be one of the largest but the best gym in San Diego!

From the first time I walked in, I knew this was the place for my daughter. Now that they offer different classes for adults and kids besides gymnastics, my son enjoys the hip hop class they have to offer. So excited to see this place grow leaps and bounds.
Everyone that works at CGC are very kind and funny ;) along with the parents that I get to know. Thanks CGC for being like family!

Visited this gym to work out and must say the facility is big in size but the equipment is on the older side. The gym doesn’t offer a foam pit like many other gymnastics facilities in San Diego (like Toby Wells YMCA). While training there was a dog running around in the training facility. This made me question how clean the facility really is. When speaking with JJ everything he said was an exaggeration. His integrity may not be what it seems. Would not feel comfortable taking my children here.

Great place to bring your kids. Not only is it run by a family with a family feel… They know their stuff! Coaches are great and know how to interact with their students to get results.

What a solid place and great community. My fiancé’s brother coached here for a extended period of time and I have to say, JJ is a phenomenal trainer, life coach, and mentor. He puts his heart and soul into this place and it shows. The kids here achieve more than they ever thought they could.
If you’re looking for a tight knit community where your kid will learn gymnastics and reach their full potential, this place is for you. I can’t even begin to describe the huge impact JJ has had on the kids here, it’s been fun to watch these kids grow over the years with JJ’s mentorship.

I had my son in a gymnastics center that even after 4 years he was with minimal skills and even less enthusiasm. When shopping around for a center I stumbled across CGC and was immediately impressed by the professionalism of the Head coach (JJ Ross) and the focus and dedication of the gymnasts under him. My son has been with the team for 5 months. In those five months he has increased his technical skills and strength by leaps and bounds! I have never seen him take such pride as he does when he tells others about his teammates and his Coach. JJ you are awesome! Keep up what you were born to do!
