Every learning struggle has a cause. That cause is most likely cognitive skill weakness. The good news is that those skills can be trained and strengthened. At Easing Learning, a student’s education and learning is valued. It is believed that taking the time to determine what a student’s learning style is can be just as critical, if not more so, than having expert knowledge in the field being tutored. My company’s mission is to empower students with the skills to become confident, effective, independent learners.

We do not only view our roles as tutors but also as learning coaches. Learning should be fun. We respect the uniqueness of each student’s learning process and will take the time to figure out what learning tools and teaching methods need to be used to help an individual’s learning progress in a fun, challenging, and rewarding manner.

The confidentiality of students and their families with always be highly respected. Helping the student be successful is top priority, not the amount of money being made.

History

Established in 2011.

I have been in the position of helping people learn for 14 years now. One of the most important teaching roles is that of being a parent. Everyday I am learning new ways to help advance learning and make learning fun for a two year old, six year old and a 14 year old with special needs. Besides the real life experience of parenting, I have also tutored students ranging grades second through college. I taught a college level course as a college student. I have instructed and mentored college-​age students getting tested for HIV and STIs. I have taken courses in both learning theory and teaching theory so that I have knowledge about how to find a person’s learning style and helping them use their strengths to learn any material. I have a 5 star rating as a tutor for Wyzant.

Business Owner

I am the owner and operator of Easing Learning. I am a Washington state native, originally from Richland. I recently relocated to Sarasota, Florida from Bellingham, Washington where I was for six years. I am married to my wonderful husband of six years. Together we have two beautiful daughters along with a son by marriage. My family and I loved the Pacific Northwest for the access to trees, mountains, ocean, and big city life when wanted and are enjoying Sarasota for similar reasons.

When I started Easing Learning, I was the owner and sole tutor. I am in the process of expansion with the goal of having the company become nationally known in the future. I am a doctoral student, but I am currently taking a break from earning my degree in education. I am focused on being the primary coordinator for all of the tutors that work for Easing Learning. There is nothing more important to me than learning and having fun while doing it.
