Spalypso is a Day Spa that offers excellent wellness services including massage, facials, body scrubs and Infrared Sauna. We are conveniently located in beautiful Sarasota FL, only one mile from Siesta Key, #1 beach in America.

Established in 2012, previously known as ‘Blue Orchid Organic’, founding Massage therapist Karen Thomas found herself in NYC before settling in Sarasota. Karen named this tranquil oasis ‘Spalypso’ to reflect a unique joining of the words Spa and Calypso, in a nod to Calypso music which, like Karen herself, hails from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad & Tobago.

«First and foremost I am a caregiver»

When Karen Thomas LMT, migrated to «this wonderful land of the United States», as she calls it, from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, her experiences as a caregiver taught her that there is so much more to this business of massage than just being pampered. The medical and wellbeing advantages of getting massages regularly were eye opening and a very welcome surprise. «I moved to Sarasota in the summer of 2012 from NYC and have been enjoying every moment of it. Coming from the Caribbean, Sarasota is a «Happy Medium» for me.

Karen studied massage therapy at the prestigious Swedish Institute — A College of Medical Science, in New York City, where she graduated with a degree in Occupational Studies — Massage Therapy. She is nationally certified with the NCBTMB #620 160 – 12 (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) and is currently licensed in both Florida #MA69987 and New York state #26 247 – 1.
