History

Established in 2008.

Thadeu Vieira is a Brazilian native, 3^rd degree black belt directly under the Gracie Jiu-​Jitsu lineage. Thadeu has bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and has been always passionate about teaching Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu. Thadeu moved to Sarasota, FL in 2005 and started teaching in local martial arts studios until he opened his first location, very small and simple on 17^th ST. Today the Vieira Martial Arts Academy is the première martial arts school in Sarasota and is currently located inside the Sarasota Square Mall next to Sears.

Business Owner

Professor Thadeu Vieira is a native of Rio de Janeiro. He is a third degree black belt and graduated with his degree in Physical Education from the University of Volta Redonda (UNIFOA) in Rio de Janeiro State. He also attended Law school back in Brazil (UBM) and is currently engaged in several different businesses — However, martial arts is his truly passion. In 2002, Master Paulo Wesley Lopes (Student of Grand Master Francisco Mansor Grand Master Helio Gracie) awarded Professor Vieira with his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu. Professor Vieira specializes in teaching Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu to kids, and he has several students that have been awarded gold medals in the Brazilian National, Florida State, Pan American and World Championships, in all ages.

Under the leadership of Professor Vieira, the VBJJA is present in several locations providing cutting edge instruction to thousands of BJJ lovers through one of the most well structured instructor certification programs. The Vieir
