Bank of the West

First time here. It was just a small transaction but it was pleasant. Staff were very kind and helpful. I’ll be back.

Having been in europe for a while ive dealt in mostly euros and kroners for a while. Been a long time id been to an american atm. Finding this shopping center i figured id get my account balance and some cash. The branch is totally 70s. At least they have the atm upgraded so people cant add the magnetic strip readers into the card port

I have done my personal and business banking at this branch for over 15 years. The service is fast, the staff are professional, friendly, and know me and my kids by name. Unlike the bigger name banks with rude tellers and impersonal design this bank welcomes you and remembers what the word service means.

If you are running a small business make sure to keep your distance from Bank of the West. I had the great misfortune to be drawn to the Saratoga branch by the offer of a credit line of $ 35,000. I was sucked in by their offer and set up accounts to leverage the credit line. Over time I used $ 18,000 of the credit line. From time to time due the inadequacies of their online banking system my account payment was late.
When the current economic downturn started Bank of the West decided the best way to help the small business customer was to terminate the line of credit and conveniently convert to a loan which had a payment 3 times greater that the maintenance on the line of credit. The banker even felt she was doing me a big favor. I suspect she was probably received a bonus for every little business she cut the legs out from under.
I will not be doing any future banking with Bank of the West. BANK OF THE WEST IS NOT FRIENDLY TO THE ECONOMIC ENGINE THAT SMALL BUSINESSES DRIVE. Don’t excercise lines of credit with this bank because you never know when they will drop one of their «convenient conversions» on your back!

I’ve been banking with this branch since the late 70’s. Sometimes this day in age, it’s helpful to be «known» in your financial institution… by that I mean just to be a familiar face… a customer that the staff sees somewhat routinely. With this said, when it came time to do necessary financial transactions that only the banks can do, it was a breeze. The staff at this branch have been so helpful in all the dealings I’ve had with them! I have heard from others that this branch hasn’t been as helpful, but I can only say I’m so glad I chose them as my bank.

I have gone to the Bank of the West Branch in Union City and the customer service there is great.
The branch in Saratoga is THE WORST.
The service is really slow and the people there who are the customer service representatives are some of the least friendly reps I have encountered. When I am in front of the line, I see 4 tellers laughing and chatting with each other while I wait. When I finally get helped, they don’t greet me and have no personalities whatsoever. I absolutely hate going to this bank. I only go to it because it’s the closet one to me and it’s convenient. Also, it will be a lot of trouble to completely change banks. I’m sure I eventually will though just because I hate this branch so much.
