Golf Country

I wish this place was just an average driving range that I could go hit some balls after work at… But it’s not. I’m a decent 10 handicap golfer, that knows how far he hits his irons within 10 yards. Every golf ball here is completely dead. I thought I was going crazy or lost 25 yards off all my irons so I took out a normal ball and hit it 30 yards further. I think I had 5 balls out of the 100 I hit that didn’t seem like they were left under snow every winter for the last decade

First time coming here. The only problem I have is that it’s kind of out of the way and you can miss the entrance and sign pointing to it. Apart from that it was pretty good (as far as a driving range goes). It was $ 11 for the largest size, around 100 balls, more or less. The range had one lower and one upper deck and had wedges as well as drivers. It also had a small mini golf course to practice your putting. The owner was pretty kind and it was a good time overall.

Not an ideal place, but it has everything you need here. Not fancy, but their facilities meet standard or even above for some perspective. I’d recommend friends to come here cuz it’s not far from home and easy.

Ugh. Don’t be fooled by the groupon photos, this mini golf course is a dump. See pics attached. Crummy grounds, not one proper scorecard stand, decorative statues worn, defaced and scattered, mucky pond with dead animals and garbage floating in it, trash on the holes… It’s just sad. It’s the saddest mini golf course I’ve ever seen.
Still better than the muni, though.

Basic range, I go here because it’s inexpensive. Balls are in rough shape and all the mats leave a layer of plastic on my clubs, so they’re not the best quality. No reason to not keep coming here though.

If you’re looking for a place to just hit balls at a low price, Golf Country is the place to go! I go there multiple times a week!

Golf Country is what it is – one of the few driving ranges on the North Shore. It’s behind the Fuddrucker’s Plaza on Route 1. There is a decent sized parking lot for the range with some paved spots and some gravel spots. The price is about right, $ 10 for a large bucket of balls. There aren’t too many mats — when I paid I was told the top was closed off. I had to wait a couple minutes for an empty mat, but that was no problem.
The range is in rough shape. I know it’s only just starting to get nice, but the grounds were a mess. The targets that were covered in Astro-​Turf were fairly destroyed and could use replacing. The range could probably stand to order some new balls too. I would say the majority of my bucket were completely worn of their dimples, which makes it tough to judge whether or not I was getting proper ball flight. There really aren’t many more options around me, and until a new range opens up I’ll still be coming here.

Two stars is a bit harsh for Golf Country considering the dearth of local competition, but it’s not worth three stars. The price is OK; $ 6 for a small bucket is about as cheap as you’ll find. The place has certainly seen better days (it hasn’t been well kept), but it’s not the worst driving range I’ve used. The staff is fine. Another reviewer already put it best: it’s a place to hit golf balls. If another place opens up in the area, maybe they’ll fix it up. Or close. Until that happens, I’ll be going to Golf Country.

This place could use some better maintenance, but let’s be real here — it’s a driving range off Rte 1 in Saugus. You’re not going there expecting to be at Bethpage Black or something. The fact is, there’s dozens of tees on two levels, with the ability to play well into the night thanks to the lights they’ve set up. Buckets of balls are cheap ($ 10 for 100+ balls) and they have frequent visitor discount cards.
Given that there are few/​no driving ranges within 20 minutes of Boston, this is a great alternative. Hop over the Tobin and you’re there quickly. There’s also a minigolf course, though it doesn’t seem too challenging or exciting — at least if you’ve got some kids who want to play while you hit a bucket or two they can go over and have some fun.

I’ve been to this driving range a few times now since it is relatively close to the city and it’s cheap (75 balls for $ 8, 100+ for $ 10). The range is lighted, and there are two levels, the lower of which is sheltered from the elements by the upper level, so you could probably use the lower level without getting rained on if you insisted on hitting balls in inclement weather. Beyond that, it’s a no-​frills kind of place; the facilities are no nicer than they have to be, the manager is no friendlier than he has to be, the mini-​golf course is tiny and looks like it would be close to no fun at all… but that’s OK. When I go to a driving range, I’m looking for a place to hit golf balls, and this place delivers.
If the guy using the mat next to me looks like he is going to blow a gasket if he doesn’t straighten out his drive prior to next weekend’s long drive contest, so be it. It’s just a place to hit golf balls. If the two 300 lbs guys next to me want to expound on the difference between «white chicks and black chicks» during my back swing, that’s fine. It’s just a place to hit golf balls. If the man and the woman next to me are clearly on their first real date after having chatted on the internet for weeks and he is delivering every cheesy pickup line that he can think of with the thickest Boston accent imaginable, that’s fine, it’s just a place to go and hit some golf balls.

This place is the closest place to my house where I can hit golf balls without anyone yelling at me that I broke something of theirs. I don’t even really golf… but I like going to the driving range because it’s a great stress reliever and sometimes, a girl just needs to bust some balls, y’know?
OK, so it’s not the greatest driving range in the world, but I am not the greatest golfer either. All I need is a club, some balls, and some green. I’m not a golf snob, but if I were, I would probably rate this place even lower.
They have clubs (including left-​handed ones) that you can borrow, and three different sizes of buckets you can buy. They also have a frequent member card. I think if you go 10 times, you get a free bucket of balls or something like that. So, be sure to ask for one if you’re there.
There is a lower level and upper level for the driving range. The green is kinda hilly and has the requisite distance flags on there. Nothing fancy… very plain and relatively cheap.
And, after you’re done, go over to Fuddrucker’s right next door and get a greasy burger. Yum!
