Sailing on San Francisco Bay is one of the world’s great sailing experiences. Let Captain Paul Adams show you and your guests the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sausalito and San Francisco waterfronts plus Angel and Alcatraz Islands. You’ll also experience our beautiful SF Bay sea life from the water, something most of our many visitors miss.

Fansea is conveniently berthed near downtown Sausalito, nestled under the Golden Gate Bridge. Fansea is a MK II Catalina 34 sailing sloop with generous accommodations for captain and passengers.

Her Hood sails are controlled from the cockpit and provide great performance and stability. Roller-​furling jib sail and in-​mast furling mainsail provides quick reefing ability. Her expertly crafted dodger and bimini provide a comfortable ride with a great view for all passengers, even on our windy or foggy days. She is a USCG documented yacht fitted with all the latest safety and communications gear, including a life raft and GPS-​enabled EPIRB.

As a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain, Master-​100 Ton vessels with Sailing and Radar endorsements, License # 1 100 981, Paul has verifiable experience and technical training.

Absolutely wonderful and perfect experience with Capt Paul! I wanted to surprise my boyfriend for our anniversary with a sailing trip because he had always wanted to learn how to sail, and Captain Paul worked with me beforehand to make sure that everything went smoothly, from getting to the location, to the surprise, and to the trip itself, which was exactly what I was hoping for – and more. I told my bf that we were going «hiking» but he started to get suspicious when we approached the pier and he noticed there were more sails than trees. He was still super surprised when Capt Paul greeted us on his beautiful boat. Capt Paul gave my bf an intro lesson to sailing and let him sail the boat near the bridge, past Alcatraz, with wonderful views of the city. He is extremely friendly, knowledgable, and made us feel safe and comfortable on the boat (my first time on a boat, actually), which he clearly maintains in extremely good condition. My bf enjoyed the experience so much that he bought boating shoes immediately after! Great communication, friendly service, and Capt Paul really cares about personal preferences and will go the extra mile to make sure you get the experience you want. Don’t think twice, just book a trip with Capt Paul, you won’t regret it!

I recently proposed to my GF on Capt Paul’s boat and it was absolutely perfect. I was running a little late and Paul worked with me and my fiancé’s schedule to make sure we still had a great experience. Super nice guy. Great afternoon. Looking forward to sailing again.

Captain Paul and his sailboat were awesome! We went several months ago during the Christmas break. He graciously scheduled us in for another day that worked better for his schedule, and allowed us to examine the boat beforehand which was very spacious for just the 2 (incl him would be 3) of us.
He gave us a delightful ride out under the Golden Gate Bridge, took some pictures of us and entertained us with several interesting historical tidbits and stories of folks before.
It was a beautiful day for sailing. He’s very experienced and even noticed/​realized before I did that my husband was feeling sea sick.
He also allowed us to stay afterwards to enjoy our delayed lunch after the trip while on the boat.
He was really friendly and comfortable to be with. We will reserve him for the next time we want to go sailing in the Marin. :)

Called Captain Paul on Saturday at 1pm, he answered his phone and said he’d call back after he checked with his wife if he could take us on the bay at 3pm. We met him at Taste of Rome café right down the street from Bar Bocce where we had lunch.
Paul has great stories from his past he has certainly lived an incredibly interesting life. I’ll leave it at that :).
His boat is cleaner than a hospital operating room. Inline with the cleanness of the boat he he takes safety seriously and explains how everything works in an emergency. He’s methodical like any good engineer is.
We had an awesome time on the water with him. He can only take 5 folks on his boat. If you’re looking for a boat to do an engagement he’s done something like ~60 on the water.
Looking forward to my next outing.

My daughter moved to San Fransisco and we chartered Paul for a bay cruise on 4⁄27 and three of us sailed the bay and learned many interesting things about sailing,
Alcatraz, and Angel Island. Highly recommend this charter.

I contacted Captain Paul a few months before my trip to San Francisco and inquired about chartering his proposal package. From the very first communication with him I felt comfortable as he replied quickly and provided a lot of useful information.
After scheduling a charter he sent detailed instructions on how to find his boat aand how the events would unfold. He also told me to relax as everything would go well!
The weather could not have been better and when we arrived at his boat, he greeted Emily by name and took a few pictures of us. He gave us a tour and told us to make ourselves at home on his sail boat (which by the way was beautiful).
During the cruise he taught us basic sailing techniques as well as facts about the area. We were completely at ease when he said we should go up to the front of the boat to take in the view from there. He had a blanket ready with a rose inside for me to present to Emily. I asked her to marry me and after she said yes, he came up to the front with a bottle of champagne.
Captain Paul made us feel so relaxed that Emily never expected a thing. He took care of all the small details and made it a very memorable trip. A few days later he followed up with a call and also sent us many pictures he had taken of the trip.
I couldn’t recommend him more for a proposal trip or just to see the San Francisco bay from a unique vantage point!

This review is long overdue, but better late than never, right?
My fiancé surprised me with a sailing trip on Captain Paul’s boat on the day he proposed last year. It had been raining on and off, but Captain Paul watched the weather satellites all morning and kept in close contact with my fiancé. He ended up pushing our departure time back a bit in hopes of having good weather. Well, he was right on, because it stopped raining right as we got on board, the sun even came out for a bit while we were on the bay, and it didn’t start raining again until we were on our way home. I was really impressed that he took the time to make sure we had perfect weather!
Captain Paul was also really fun to hang out with! He let my fiancé steer the boat, told us all kinds of cool sailing stories, and took pictures of us (which he emailed to my fiancé the next day). We broght our own snacks and champagne, but the boat was stocked with drinks, jackets and other sailing essentials. He also let me wear this little device that looked like a watch to prevent me from getting seasick.
I can’t recommend Captain Paul highly enough, he made an already special day even more memorable for us. We’ll definitely be going out on his boat again, hopefully next time with friends.

Wow, what an incredible experience! Paul’s sailboat was gorgeous and he could not have been friendlier or more accomodating. We sailed out around Angel Island and Alcatraz, but he lets the passengers pick the destination. We were lucky enough to see swimming seals and porpoises on our excursion — they could not have been cuter.
Paul actually let us steer and taught us about sailing which was amazing as most captains don’t really want passengers near the wheel. He is also thoughtful enough to stock his boat with the essentials: sunblock, beer, whiskey, soda, and water which is also included in the price — awesome right?
It couldn’t have been a better experience and we will definitely do it again. Apparently over 40 couples have gotten engaged on his boat and I can see why. Great captain, great boat, and very reasonable prices for the level of service and trip!

We had an amazing time on Captain Paul’s yacht. My boyfriend surprised me on my birthday with a trip around San Francisco Bay. Captain Paul was full of all sort of great information, was completely personable and even had sunscreen to share when we had forgotten our own. At sunset, Captain Paul suggested we get some photos from the front of the yacht… and much to my surprise he had carefully and perfectly arranged the best marriage proposal I can possibly imagine!
I can’t rate Captain Paul high enough! We hope to go back and share another sailing experience with him, and hopefully his wife next time.

We really enjoyed our sail with Captain Paul. He was professional, safe and friendly from start to end. He’s very knowledgeable of the area and has great stories to keep you entertained throughout the cruise. We wanted to learn a little bit about how to sail ourselves and Captain Paul provided us with a lot of information as well as hands-​on experience. This was by far the best part of our weekend in the Bay Area.

My wife surprised me for my birthday with a ride on Paul’s boat. Paul treats you like you are a friend of his that he hasn’t seen in the last 10 years.
Plus finding a conservative in S.F. Is amazing!
