Artists of Issaquah

Let’s not lie. The thrill of this small, varied art showing is getting to walk the long dock of Sausalito’s Issaquah houseboat community and enter some of those houseboats. And dream about living on the water but not as in «anchor out». This lifestyle seems more manageable, with no rowing involved and no peeing in a can.
And, in the process of viewing this very appealing community, you get to see — possibly purchase — some cool art, so all the better. The only problem here is that there’s only a handful (13, a malformed handful) of artists on display. Some, like RIc Miller’s gorgeous, well-​priced, panoramic photos of Marin waterscapes are really worth a view. Others, not so much. In a big showing you walk right by the stuff that doesn’t appeal. Here, you’ve entered someone’s home. Walking in, looking around, and walking out isn’t awkward. Rather, it just means that the whole thing is over pretty fast.
So, plan on spending about 60 minutes here the next time the show comes around (it’s annual, going on it’s 11^th year). Hopefully you hit it on a gorgeous day with the sun glistening on the bay and flower pots in bloom. There’s a lot worse ways to spend an afternoon.
