Marin Photo Tours provides an environment for people to learn how best to use their cameras with instructions and feedback as we walk through the scenic and very interesting areas of Marin County, California.

The goal of our program is to have relaxing walks, meet like-​minded individuals, view the beautiful scenery, become comfortable with our cameras and with feedback from our professional instructors learn to take great photographs.

History

Established in 2011.

As a photographer and resident of Marin County, California for over 30 years I enjoy walking the rural neighborhoods and natural areas of the county. I love photographing the scenery, the neighborhoods and the people. I feel blessed to live in such a beautiful and diverse environment.

The idea of Marin Photo Tours is to share my enthusiasm for walking the trails and streets of Marin and my love of photography with other like-​minded folks. I like helping people to grow their photographic skills, develop their creative eye and appreciate the world around us.

I’ve been taking photographs for over 40 years.

I enjoy photographing everything, but my favorites are photos of people, living their lives and telling their stories.

I have traveled and photographed five continents and my images have appeared in magazines, on billboards and books.

Through Marin Photo Tours, I decided to offer classes and workshops for both beginning and intermediate photographers wishing to build their picture taking knowledge. I provide Photo Walks where a small group of us can explore a specific area and hone our ‘artistic eye’ for composition and our skills for picture taking.

I was awarded the Certified Professional Photographer designation from the Professional Photographers of America. Additionally I am a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and PPA.

David is not a professional and rude. I left a clear message with phone number to reach me at. Per my Living Social voucher I called him in order to redeem my voucher. He did not call me at at the number I left. He does not care to honor his voucher and told me to contact Living Social to deal with it. I would give him no stars if it was an option. There are so many other photographers and photo teachers that no one should deal with his inability to run a small business. He went so far as to tell me that I wouldn’t know how to run a business like his. Newsflash he knows nothing about me and the first point of business is customer service, a skill he lacks. He choose not to listen to my voicemail message, that is not my problem. I was clear in leaving my call back number twice in that message. I followed the instructions to redeem on the voucher yet he said it was my fault that I did not look up his website in order to find his email. He wanted people to use his email to redeem the vouchers why didn’t he have it listed on the voucher? Why did he only put a phone number in the directions?
Obviously from Stephanie T’s post he didn’t make money from the Living Social vouchers and treated some of us with disdain because of it.
I have nothing positive to say from my interaction with David wish never to have to interact with him again.

I am so sad to see such high ratings for David after our encounter with him. We purchased a living social deal for an hour of photography, 10 images and an 8×10. We had to call LS when he was not reachable to schedule the sessions. We finally reached him, got a 45 min, not an hour photo shoot and the whole time he made it clear LS was a rip off and he made no money off of it. Then when I asked how we would get our 10 images, by disk or email, and he said they are not actual jpegs but just Facebook quality photos, not to be reproduced. And if he gave me the jpegs he wouldn’t make any money. I was confused, went home and reviewed the deal I purchased, as I thought I was getting the the jpegs and the deal didn’t specify the kind of photos I was going to receive. I contacted David, hoping he’d work with me, as I felt the deal was not represented accurately. He ignored my request and stated that if I wanted any photos, he would produce them starting at $ 30 for each print. I was appalled! This is a classic bait and switch and after contacting LS and then my credit card trying to get my money back to no avail I finally told David, fine just send me the 8×10, which was part of the deal. He never sent it to me. I called LS again and they finally gave me my money back… DO NOT hire this man to do anything for you. He’s a liar, swindler and even when I tried to work with him he was unwilling. That was just his business practice. The actual photos were mediocre as he was impatient to get the shoot over with. I would get my family ready for the shot and have to rush into position and while he’s snapping away while I wasn’t ready, and the photos illustrated this. Simply terrible.

It was a truly enjoyable experience. David was knowledgeable and patient and we would recommend this workshop to anyone who has a good camera and not quite sure how to use it.
My husband and I both learned so much from this class, it was worth every penney. We are looking forward to the Floating Homes Tour in September, camera ready! Thanks, David!

Thanks to Living Social I had the opportunity to take David’s Sausalito Houseboat Tour. David was very helpful and patient with all my questions regarding shooting in manual mode. I had never used my manual settings before but he made it easier to understand and I am forever grateful for this.

David is an excellent teacher and a lovely fellow with whom to spend a few hours talking and learning about photography.
His teaching is very simple and practical and he makes the mechanics of digital cameras easy to understand and remember. His introduction to the principles of good photography and composition makes them easy to understand and apply.
I didn’t know what to expect when I sign up for this class, especially since my husband and I have very different levels of familiarity with photography. But we both enjoyed it thoroughly and learned a lot.

David English is an excellent teacher (take it from me… I train teachers!). He knows photography, explains things clearly, makes the learning easy and fun, and has a lot of patience. His love of photography is contagious.
The walking tour of the houseboat communities of Sausalito is the icing on the cake, rich in photographic possibilities.
I’ve been doing photography for years and still learned a lot.
It was a valuable and fun 3 hours that was worth every dollar and more. I hope he follows through on his plans to offer one on photo processing.

I just spent the morning with David and three others walking through two houseboat communities in Sausalito. We had a wonderful time. We came with different cameras and different levels of knowledge of the art of photography but I think we all went away with new insights. I would highly recommend this tour.

The photo tour with David E was great ! Small group size meant personal attention and plenty of time to ask questions.
We met at the Bayside Café, then walked over to David’s house boat stopping on the way and talking about some camera basics and taking pictures. Once inside his houseboat, he offered us tea ! (who does that !) and went over some more basics and fundamentals of photography. Then we went up to the roof to shoot some more pictures based on what we just learnt. After that we walked out towards the docks and got some great shots, talking to some friendly people on the way. We talked a lot about the history of surrounding areas and David was kind enough to share with us his stories from yesteryears.
I learnt a lot from this session and so will you. If you own a dslr, read the manual. Basics on how to adjust your shutter speed and aperture, viewing the histogram etc. will help you get the max. out of your time with David.

We had a great time with David and took away many tips that we were unware of prior. If you have the slightest interest in photography or just want to learn to take a better picture, I highly recommend a session with David. I also learned a little history about Sausalito that was new to me.
