Pippa Murray Mosaic Studio

The first time I saw Pippa’s work was at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. She did a beautiful mosaic with organic shaped tiles. It was simple, modern, and elegant. I went to Pippa’s Studio Christmas party last Friday and saw more of her work. I saw her beautiful water colour sketches for her mosaic design, the tools she used to cut each tile by hand, and pictures of previous work she had done for clients. One of her projects was making the entire bathroom look like a single continous piece of marble from floor to ceiling, with daring black lines going in different directions on a white background, just like an abstract painting. She has also created a 2000 square foot of mosiac with small hand cut tiles, which took 17 000 man hour to finish. The experience of seeing her work more up close and personal really changed the way I look at mosaics.
