Aroy-Jung Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar

Had dinner here with my family after a long day of walking around Savannah. The ambience is lovely — big spacious dining room with several burbling water features, Buddhas and colorful mosaic lamps. We were seated in front of the big picture windows where we could people watch.
Food was good. I had a very fresh green papaya and shrimp salad. Son had the phở and loved it. Husband had drunken noodles and thought it was very good — just wished there had been a little more meat in it. Lemongrass chicken and teriyaki chicken were also tasty.
Avoid the tempura — too oily and not well– battered.
Our waitress recommended the white wine sangria which was delightful with sliced green apple in it.

I saw in their window that they were now also Saigon Flavors, so I was interested in trying it out since I enjoy Vietnamese food. The place was pretty much empty at lunch (first bad sign). The food took forever, considering there were maybe 1 – 2 other tables occupied (second bad sign). Shortly before our food arrived, I noticed where a solo diner at another table received her food, sent it back, paid her bill (I assume just for their drink) and left (third bad sign). Our food arrived, and while it wasn’t bad, it was nothing amazing. The chief problem I had with it, however, was they brought me the pork version of the dish I asked for instead of the chicken version. I wasn’t about to wait another 30ish minutes for a new plate, so I mentioned it to my dining companions but wasn’t going to ask for a replacement. When the waitress came back, one of my dining companions mentioned the error to her, but I told her that I was OK with keeping the dish. Evidently she talked to the cook about it, then came back and said that it was indeed chicken. Chicken and pork are pretty darn easy to tell apart, so I really got irked at that point that she was going to insult my intelligence and imply I couldn’t tell the difference (fourth bad sign). On top of that, the waitress told us the kitchen was «swamped» as an excuse for the slowness of the food. Really??? If three tables being occupied counts for being swamped, I’d hate to see how they dealt with an actual crowd.
I’m giving them two stars for the fact that the food was edible, and I didn’t get food poisoning.

Went in on a Thursday late summer afternoon and was greeted by an unenthusiastic staff, and a stuffy/​hot restaurant. The air and fans were not on. Thai iced tea was watery and bubbles tasted old. Would not recommend!

Will not return. Chicken overcooked, vegetables way undercooked. We got pur food and it was about 45 minutes before anyone came by to check on us anything. Very rude staff. The place has a very cheap feel and the booths/​tables are all used junk or plywood.

So, went there last night. The food wasn’t great. The service was horrible. The sushi roll wasn’t going to come out until after the entrées (ordered 15 min before them.) and then got sick from the food. Overpriced disaster!

First let me start out by saying… I am not a sushi person at all. When I go to an Asian restaurant I know what I’m ordering before I even walk in. I’m getting teriyaki chicken and rice. One, I’m allergic to shellfish so I avoid it, because I like breathing. Two, I’ve tried sushi and fish before and it tastes «fishy». Even though everyone I’ve ever met has said, «Taste my fish, you’ll love it.» It always turns out «fishy».
Fast forward to this place. I was on the way to a noodle spot with a friend and had never eaten here. Since I like to try new things, we stopped in and had a bite. My friend is a sushi lover and takes her sushi serious, so we sat at the sushi bar and she was ready. I sat down, opened the menu, saw what I wanted within 30 seconds, and set it down. My friend couldn’t decide between the curry and some sushi rolls, so I made her get both. I’m mean like that. Then, we had to decide what type of rolls.
On the menu they already have more choices than I would know what to do with, but the chef said that he could «craft» whatever kind of rolls you like. I told him about my dislike for «fishy» fish and he said he had just the thing. He then made a seared, tuna, tartar, with some sauce, a little spice, a something else, and crunchy stuff. I don’t usually give in to the peer pressure, but I ended up trying it. It was AMAZING… I think I ate more sushi than my friend. I asked what the name was and he didn’t have one. So I named it «Dat Ish»… Go in and tell Jack you want «Dat Ish»… He will laugh and make you some of it. You won’t regret it.
Overall the service was good, atmosphere was friendly and chill, and the food spoke for itself. I like this place and will be beinging the crew.

Food was decent but not great. Bubble tea took over 20 minutes to getService was slow and not very good even though they weren’t very busy. Sushi chef had a foul mouth and brought up some inappropriate conversation and negativity about savannah. Took forever to check us out and bring us a to go container. Not impressed. Probably won’t be back.

We visited on a Tuesday night and the place was empty with only 2 other diners present. The service was adequate in regards to speed but our waitress was unable to answer questions regarding the menu and stated that their sushi chef was new so may not know how to do everything on the menu. When we received our food, we were all disappointed. The noodle bowls were bland with not enough flavor to even continue eating them. I attempted to douse mine in soy sauce just to taste something but nothing helped. The sushi rolls our party ordered fell apart as soon as one tried to lift them and were completely unappetizing. We ended up leaving more than half of each dish uneaten. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Walked in on a Friday night and to our surprise it was fairly empty. The waitress highly recommended the drunken fried rice and some of the rolls. So we decided to go with her suggestions, the rice with beef and the thai lava rolls and the dynamite rolls. The rice was just regular fried rice, nothing out of the ordinary. Though we were in a group, our food came out at different times. The sushi was the last to come and the waitress forgot to bring the chopsticks. It took another 10 minutes to get her attention and ask her for chopsticks. The rolls tasted great but they were falling apart. So it was tough to eat them. The service wasnt great either. Would not return !

Two of us finally got our main dish. They forgot our salads. They must be having a bad day because most the reviews are good.

Nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff, good sushi. I give it four stars because another reviewer said they received complementary sushi roll. We got here before six. The place wasn’t crowded. We were waited on and food came out quickly. We got to rainbow rolls and two nigiri. The portions were good the fish was fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. I recommended and will eat here on my next visit.

Went in on a Saturday with a party of 11, they take reservations. The place was almost empty, there was maybe two other couples asides from us.
Tip: there are great Groupons available online for this restaurant.
I didn’t order any appetizers, but for entrée we got the drunken fried rice with chicken and Hurricane Lobster sushi ($ 22, $ 2 more than the Lobster roll). The sushi was one of the daily specials and is really similar to the Lobster roll but had a little twist added to it. It wasn’t the best sushi I have ever had, tasted average to me. The drunken fried rice was amazing, we got no spice but it still had a little spice added to it. If you can’t handle spice or can handle little spice, I would recommend going for no spice. They give you three different hot sauce/​powder in case you want to add more spice. Also, the portion size is great. Me and my friend shared the sushi and the fried rice and we were full when we left.
The prices are reasonable, $ 14 for the drunken fried rice (I’m not sure why it’s not mentioned on the menu) but they definitely don’t have the best sushi in Savannah.

We had the spicy tuna sushi and it was very good. No soy sauce required which speaks volumes about the quality and flavor. My girlfriend ordered the Tom ka gai soup and in her words. «I could live in this soup.» I had the curry noodle and It was light and flavorful. The ginger dressing was home made and it showed in a positive way. I recommend this place to everyone. Great lunch prices too.

Fresh and tasty sushi and sashimi. Was so good I brought my husband back for dinner when he got out of class. I wish I had found this place before our last day here. I want to eat here everyday. Way better than the other two Asian restaurants I tried in town.

It was good but be aware that coupons from
cannot be used on certain days so call ahead. We loved the «Sue»! She took very good care of us. Very nice and accomodating.

I have been here several times since we moved here and they have never disappointed! I have had quite a few of the speciality rolls and they can make most of them gluten free, I have an allergy. They also have gluten free soy sauce upon request.

The food was decent, nothing I would write home about. Sushi was better than most places I visited since coming to Savannah, but for the prices I could have gone to Kroger and gotten a better deal out of it. Would totally come back if they lowered the prices for the sushi or upped the quality.

The most terrible service I’ve ever experienced!
We entered the restaurant, were seated, and had waited for 15 mins and not a single greet from waitress was made. The restaurant was not busy at all (that was a bad sign). After we saw that the new customers who entered this place after us were promptly taken care, we decided to leave.
However I had to thank them for treating us badly so that we left and walked further down the street and we found the really nice noodle bar.
The bottom line is, if you are craving for real asian food with good service, stay away from this place.

After a tireless search we finally found our new sushi restaurant! After recently moving from the Florida panhandle where we were spoiled rotten by hands down the best sushi restaurant ever (sushimoto in destin), I was terrified we weren’t going to find anything edible locally. We tried at least 5 other places all with miserable results. We still have a couple other places to try but we might not even bother after eating here.
With the exception of the thai lemon chicken appetizer for our son (which was tender and flavorful), all we had was sushi so I can’t vouch for anything else, but the specialty rolls were delicious! So was the tuna tartare appetizer. We had 4 specialty rolls (the only names I can remember are red dragon) and loved every single one.
Service was excellent. We had a very sweet, friendly, smiley, attentive waitress and the sushi chef sent over a glazed orange on the house. We went early since we were taking our 15 month old son and didn’t want to ruin the sexy vibe that this place puts off. Nobody seemed annoyed that he was with us and everybody was accommodating.
My only complaint is price. I have no problem paying for quality but this was still overpriced.
We had a great window table, mood and lighting was nice, and food was fantastic — what more do you want! Don’t waste your time at any other sushi place in Savannah!

Es war wirklich lecker! Wir hatten die Edamame Bohnen, den frittierten Tofu, eine Miso Suppe– eine der besten die ich je gegessen habe, Teriyaki Tofu, und vegetarisches Sushi. Alles war wirklich ausgezeichnet und in vernünftigen Portionen. Unsere Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hilfreich. Wir essen oft Asiatisch und können dieses Restaurant sehr empfehlen!

This place was never on my radar as a place to try while in Savannah. We just went in with no expectation. Place is right on Broughton Street which has most of the shopping options in the historic district.
My initial concerns were
1) Place was almost empty during dinner prime time
2) Waiter told us the sushi chef was out of town so sushi was off the menu (WTF?)
This is truly an asian fusion menu. Lots of choices and everything we tried was surprisingly very good.

So for a place where we just stumbled in, showing the warning signs of a bad experience, turned out to be a hidden gem. I have to highly recommend this place. We were pleasantly surprised how good the the food was.
