Islands Ace Hardware

To begin with, I shop there are somewhat regularly. Floor staff are very helpful in guiding you towards the product that you are seeking. And likewise in the garden department. Over all staff show a great interest in helping you find what you are looking for.
The problem comes when you are ready to return something that did not work out for you. These returns require a manager’s signature. The manager is called from whatever part of the store he or she is in and come to meet with you face-​to-​face to interrogate you about the product and why you are bringing it in. The only simple return can be made with something unopened, otherwise prepare for an inquiry and this inquiry does not have the same friendly feeling that that helpful store person had when he or she was helping you find your product.
I purchased an out door flood light on-​off Sensor a few weeks ago to regulate an outdoor floodlight. Before I got home I realized that if I used this item and it did not perform properly, I would be interrogated by a manager not going out of his way to respect my position. So I kept the item packaged as it was and headed to Home Depot, where I know I could return the item with no questions asked. I then returned the unopened item to Ace, and told the clerk I was returning it after buying the same item at Home Depot, because the extra drive was worth forgoing the interrogation that I would have to receive when I returned it.
If you are certain you will not be needing to return your item, it’s a great place to shop. Otherwise, beware!!2

My visits have been about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ with getting friendly service from anybody other than the cashiers (they’re always nice to my daughter and I really appreciate that), however I’ve worked with their lawnmower repair dept and they were GREAT. Nice guys that fixed my mower very quickly and for a cheap price.
Selection has always been limited as well, but then I’ve always regarded ACE as more of a boutique-​style hardware store so it’ll never be as well-​stocked as either Home Depot or Lowe’s.

I shop here more often than I would like due to the convenient location. The employees go out of their way to avoid helping patrons. Checkout gals are also very unfriendly. I wish there was another close option.

I saw at least 15 people working in this ace. All of which wanted no part in assisting or speaking to my group. As deserved I laid my merchandise down and left. I hate supporting any business that shouldn’t be in business.
Go somewhere else!

In contrast to the other review, I love this ACE Hardware. Staff is always friendly and helpful as one would expect in a store like this. Prices tend to be higher than the big chain home improvement stores but I feel better shopping here. Also, if you are looking for something the big hardware stores don’t have, ACE always seems to have it.

unfriendly people if you have a problem, it is never their mistake. I purchased the same paint on two separate occassions, (mixed to order) the colors were not the same, i brought it back and showed them the different formula on the cans and the different color on the paint chip on the top of the cans. They looked at me and said they were the same color. And they couldn’t just take back paint from people.
I mean, it was wrongly mixed, I wasn’t asking for the labor for my painter, just the right color in replacement. quess it is asking too much to expect them to do the right thing.
