Olde Harbour Inn

I can’t say enough about how incredibly this hotel is. Not because they have the latest furnishings, the most amenities, but because their kindness when dealing with unusual requests is better than any place I’ve ever stayed (and I’ve stayed a LOT of places).
I was in Savannah because my grandchild was very sick and at the hospital right down the road. I need a dog friendly hotel because I had to get here fast and my dog sitter wasn’t available on short notice.
I called in as I was driving here (12 long hours) and asked if I could please check in at around 10 a.m. My grandson was scheduled for surgery right as I was about to get there and I needed to drop my dogs off and run. If you know anything about hotels most don’t have that early of a check-​in because of having to clean rooms from the previous night. They made sure I had a room and could come in and get to the hospital quickly.
I was really expecting a room that was subpar (that’s what most hotels will give you when you put them out by requesting something out of the ordinary), but this room was spectacular! It was as though they saved the best for knowing everything I was going through. I was speechless.
The room was a suite (I’d only booked a king) with a kitchen and a beautiful bathroom and bedroom. The bed was gigantic and SO comfortable. It was right within walking distance of anything you could want in Savannah as well. I was blown away.
Again, though, the hotel was beautiful and perfectly located, but the kindness of the employees was beyond anything I could ever have hoped for. From the beautiful room, to the Klondike bars (my grandchildren loved those!) to an employee giving up his parking space so I wouldn’t have to walk so far, to the doggy treats… I COULD GO ON AND ON!
Every, single time I am ever in Savannah I will stay here. I have found no better service anywhere else in my lifetime of travel. Thank you, Olde Harbour Inn, you made a terrible situation much more bearable!

Our experience at OHI was excellent. The suites are the size of apartments, and the views of the river and city are spectacular. We stayed in a two-​bedroom suite for the same price another popular River Street hotel was charging for a standard room. We chose this place because it is pet friendly, and we were traveling with our cat. Here are a few tips to insure your stay will be as pleasant as ours. Please anticipate that other guests also bring pets, and dogs sometimes bark while their owners are out. The inconvenience of having no elevator is a minor one, but it may be a problem for handicapped guests. The parking spaces in the alley to the right of the hotel are for three hours only during the day. Designated parking spaces for the hotel are located in a separate parking lot behind the Hilton Homewood Suites. In summary, if you’re looking for spaciousness, affordability, and convenience of location that happens to also be pet-​friendly, this is the place to stay.

Wow! What a great stay for our anniversary trip! From the moment we walked into the lobby I was impressed. They let us check into our room early, there was a very nice man there that showed us right where to park, and helped us with our bags. When we walked into our room we were sooooooo excited! It was like a mini apartment with a kitchen, and a huge room lit up with so much light, and a great view of the river. At first we thought the bed was our least favorite part of the room, but we were pleasantly surprised by how well we slept! (we are not good sleepers at all) We loved the Wine and cheese at 5:30. We even met some of the other guests, which made it feel homey. The ice cream was a great touch also. This hotel had so many positives. I would definitely stay here again. I would however suggest to the hotel to maybe add some kitchen supplies (pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc. although there are so many great places to eat you might not need them) Other than that, a perfect stay!

What a charming gem of a hotel. The hotel overlooks River St central to most things. We were given a suite with kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom with river view. Room 309. When we arrived you have to go down Lincoln Ramp and take the first right. I missed this and ended up driving along River St parking in the 2 hr parking and walking up the steps to check in. Dominic who is an excellent ambassador for the hotel came back to the car with me picked up the bags and directed me to the free parking at the end of River St. I read a few reviews knocking the parking but it was easy. The rooms very clean, the breakfast buffet was nice, they offer a cheese and wine horsdouvres and a daily Klondike bar each. To stay in a central place with great staff was priceless. Highly recommended. I held back 1 star as I didn’t see the ghost.

I booked this hotel through kayak and was pleasantly surprised!
The room is spacious and clean. The staff has been an absolute delight. When we first arrived to our room, the front desk called about 10 minutes in to make sure everything was good for us. At 5:30 they offer complimentary wine and cheese. Also before bed they do a «turn down» service and put Klondike bars in our freezer! The complimentary breakfast was good as well.
Overall, I am very pleased and would definitely return. The location is awesome!

Love this hotel! A large space with a functional kitchen! Gives you the feel of having an apartment in Savannah right on the river walk! My wife and I keep coming back here… it is charming, convenient, and the staff are lovely and always accommodating! Room 202 is the best! it is even fun to write in the guest book they provide you with to write about your stay Savannah and your time spent at the Olde Harbor Inn. 1 Star off because it can be a bit noisy in the halls and from Joes Crab Shack but that is really hit or miss! we will definitely be staying here again!

Great location. Within walking distance to East River street with shops, bars, and restaurants. Room is very spacious. Living room is separate from the bedroom and there’s a kitchenette. Pet friendly is a plus, and they provide turn down service complete with a ice cream treat! Even a doggie bag with treats. Wine and cheese happy hour at 5:00. Supposedly haunted by ghost named Hank– so far only have some flickering lights but will follow up if we get anything good to report. Love it so far.

Best hotel in Savannah, when compared to their local competition (Gastonian, The Bohemian, The Mansion, The Cotton Sail). This is based on their huge room size and based on the fact that they are located VERY close to the river walk.

This is an excellent place to stay whale in Savannah. This Inn is right on the river and you can watch the ships come in to the harbor from your room window or from the windows of the dining room in which a pretty good breakfast is served everyday. Nothing better than buttered grits in Georgia!
The rooms are huge, and beautiful. hardwood flooring throughout. Exposed brick walls, large wooden beams and large windows facing the river. There is also a fully functional galley style kitchen if you want to cook… but you’re in Savannah man! Why in the world would you want to cook when you are surrounded by awesome restaurants?!? And unlike other hotels they do not leave a little chocolate on your pillow when the bed is turned down. No! They leave ice cream for you in the fridge! WOOHOO!
Speaking of the staff, they were all excellent, very friendly and helpful. One small thing I noticed (that I loved) was that whenever we had a question or even addressed the staff, they stopped doing what they were doing & looked us in the eyes when they answered. Southern Hospitality folks!
The rates were not that expensive and were well below what some other places were charging. I don’t think you would be disappointed if you choose to stay here while in town.

Loved this hotel. The rooms were more like a suite. The décor was beautiful. Yhe bathroom was small, but adequate. The kitchenette would have been useful if we had been staying for more than a day. They provided complimentary bottled water, and Klondike bars at bed time. We could hear the horn of the boats on the river and some of the street noise, but for us it only added to the charm. They even provided a complimentary breakfast with fresh scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, various breads, coffee, juice, cereal, oatmeal… the works. We will definitely return.

True Southern Hospitality!!!
My husband and I stayed here a few weeks ago and had an incredible visit. The suites were extremely spacious, very well appointed and decorated, featured a full kitchenette, and overlooked the river. I truly felt at home and relaxed. The location was great– right along East Bay Street, but off enough to the side to be quiet. It was a short walk to the restaurants and pretty city squares. Despite being on the water, it was surprisingly quiet– I only heard one barge coming through in the morning.
The hospitality was fantastic. Not only was there a delicious hot breakfast, but there was a happy hour with wine, soft drinks, cheese, and assorted tasty snacks– they put a lot of effort into creating varied and pretty snack bites. The lounge was warm and inviting — the perfect locale to meet new friends. On top of that, the turn down service even featured ice cream!
The service was outstanding as well. Rates were very competitive and parking rates were much lower than most places around. Thanks to Rachel who went out of her way to accommodate us on a very busy night, and to Kevin who truly went above and beyond to help us find some free parking! I would definitely stay again.

Olde Harbour Inn delivered great first impressions for us. The check in area is beautiful and a clean country modern type style. We were also impressed with the size of the room. (Room 302). high ceilings with a long hallway passing a bathroom and kitchen opening up to a huge bedroom and sitting areas. (Our room was carpeted.)
I’d originally wanted to stay at the Brice, but the rate went up the night before we booked. I then chose the Hyatt and then did a free cancellation when I saw the Olde Harbour Inn. (That will give you an idea of the types of hotels we were considering.)
The location is very convenient to the river street bars and restaurants, and given that it was Oktoberfest weekend, we still found parking on the cobblestones very, very close to our room. (Room entrances are in clusters accessible off the street, with 1 keyed door serving as an entry way to a small foyer to access 3 rooms.)
Turn down service results in crunch ice cream bars in the freezer — a welcome touch in the evenings! The bed was very comfortable with multiple sheet layers. The hot morning breakfast buffet is complimentary with the room and had plenty of options to choose from. We were also pleased with the evening wine and snack reception, also included. I also made use of the room’s coffee maker which was clean. Hubby would have preferred a larger TV, but I’m grateful that it gave me better odds of getting him out sightseeing and away from the games on TV. :)
I’d made the mistake of searching to see if the hotel might be haunted (most of Savannah is, it seems), so my overactive imagination made me sleep lightly when I read reports of Hank. I think I was sleeping when I imagined my covers being pulled towards the window (opposite direction from my sleeping husband) because when I checked, nothing appeared to be shifted. That doesn’t seem to line up with the reports anyways. Like I said, overactive imagination! We were able to hear the street cleaners in the early morning hours as they made multiple passes cleaning the streets on Sunday morning and the floor above us did creak which wasn’t helped by the guest above us having their dog with them to constantly move around. It IS an older building, so those things are to be expected.
Overall, it is a charming hotel. You can tell the owners have worked hard to create a pleasant staying experience. :)

The staff here is super friendly! Our room was clean and the turn down service and ice cream was a nice touch. They do a wine and cheese reception with light hors d’oeuvres. The first night was a couple different kinds of macaroons and a tuna salad in a light pastry. The second night was a cucumber slice over a piece of cream cheese covered bread and chocolate chip cookies. The breakfast was much more than I expected. We had a scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, cereal, grits, oatmeal, bagels, toast, danishes, and yogurt. The staff were always very friendly. When we arrived it started raining while we were checking in — one of the staff grabbed us an umbrella as we didn’t have one to get to our car and then helped us unload so we didn’t have to be in the rain as long. They gave us a full tour on check in as well. The room was spacious and we couldn’t hear anything from our neighbors. The bed was comfortable and plenty of everything was provided.

This was a beautiful inn that my boyfriend surprised me with for the Fourth of July. The inn itself is quite lovely and has a modern and historic look. We checked in and parking was simple as there were spots available near our room. The front desk was extremely helpful and informative and surprised us with a gift;) We were told breakfast started at 7am-​9am. Then around 5pm-​7pm snacks were provided such as wine, cheese, desserts, and little hors d’ oeuvre that vary every day. That is sweet!!! When we opened the door to our room it was as if we entered into a private underground apartment. We absolutely loved the spacious rooms and opened up the freezer to find two Klondike ice cream bars! I then walked into our master room to find two robes laying on our bed with a note to enjoy our ice cream and the weather for the next day. I walked into the living room to find a bottle of wine, two glasses and a box of chocolates that my sweetie ordered ahead to surprise me with. I was impressed and ecstatic. The location of the inn was very convenient as it was just a walk a way to river street. Restaurants and souvenir shops were everywhere and a ferry to get to the convention Center if needed to. I will forever love this olde harbor inn. My boyfriend proposed to me on july 4 in the inn. I have to say there was no better way to end our stay in romantic savannah georgia, olde harbor inn with my fiancé!!!

I’m a little vexed by how well they are reviewed elsewhere, but after seeing the fellow clientele I realized if you are thirty you aren’t even halfway to the average age, and frankly a savvy selection of review baiting bribes (Gratis wine and ice cream, which is a smart and excellent touch) I feel like expectations might be different for the younger more active Unilocal set.
I will get straight to the important bit, the elephant in the room we aren’t supposed to talk about… Do you want to have sex on your vacation? You can hear your neighbors Snoring, Whispering, Breathing, and Talking in hushed tones, etc. That’s okay, no crazy acrobatics tonight, just gentle missionary and bite your lip… Bam Bam Bam, The headboard slams hard against the brick walls unsecured, the bed frame (It’s a petite hardwood conventional bed frame like at grandma’s house) wobbles comically no matter how gentle the antique bed is operated, the broken wooden slats slam against each other on each rebound so both wall and box spring are getting in on the racket. All in all a gentle session sounded like a comical hollywood sound-​effects level headboard pounding of sleazy motel, all this coupled with paper-​thin doors where your neighbors felt separated by a curtain (The clear visible gaps in the door frame being a likely culprit).
The historic parts are great and beautiful and spacious, love the hardwoods and brick walls with exposed beams, but the hotel elements look built in the 80s or 90s and are getting worn. The bathroom was mildewing and most spigots and drains were broken and clogged. The furniture is faded and some elements sticky, for $ 200+ I feel like these expectations are not out of bounds.
Recommended for exhibitionists with a «Don’t wake Grandma» fetish and Grandmother’s who don’t mind being woken, for me, not the romantic getaway I was hoping for.

I really liked this little hotel/​B&B. Great location, especially for catching the ferry over to the convention center. Great walkability to just about anything — restaurants, shopping, the river, etc.
No mints on your pillow here — you get an ice cream bar in your freezer instead! (The rooms have kitchens.)
The staff was very helpful and kind. The room was clean and had everything we needed — TV, internet, lots of room and a cute concept of a «Room Diary.» It’s in one of the drawers and all the guests write in it, giving ideas of things to do, places to go and kind words about the hotel. Really cute.
Oh, and there’s a free wine happy hour every night in the main building. Woo!

We arrived around 4:00 on a Sunday. Greeted by two very nice staff members.
Positives: Very large room. Unique antique feel. Free wine/​cheese/​cookie cocktail hour where we chatted with other guests. Very informative staff. Close to all the River Street shops and bars. Convenient parking. Clean room (at least as clean as it could be while still maintaining the historic feel). Pretty decent breakfast. Nice robes.
Negatives: Shower water was slow to drain. Low shower. Ugly carpet. Outdated décor. View from our downstairs room wasn’t great due to construction going on outside our room. Parking was $ 12 for 48 hours. Room smelled like cleaning products.

For the location, price, service and comfortable rooms, ya can’t get anything better in Savannah, period. I’ve been visiting Savannah for 20 years now and decided to stay at the O.H.I. for the first time a few weeks ago for 3 days. I’m just sorry I never stayed here before. I can’t explain how many nights and money I have wasted on other places in the past.

This was our first trip to Savannah and we chose this B&B because of its location, price, breakfast, and evening wine.
The location was fantastic (based solely on that, I would have rated it 5 stars)!!
The breakfast was ok, they had sausage and biscuits but no eggs … a bit strange. But the sausage was definitely tasty and the biscuits were warm and flaky. I guess my only complaint regarding the breakfast was that I wish they’d had more options. They had cold cereal (but I can’t consume dairy) and yogurt (again, dairy) in addition to the biscuits and sausage.
The evening wine reception was ok. We have stayed at other hotels that had this and in comparison to the others we have experienced, this one was so-​so. They do only have wine (one red and one white, so you may not enjoy it if you are picky about your wines), some cheese, and some very tasty sandwiches and cookies. It is definitely nice to have this available. We were hoping to talk to more of the guests at the reception to get insights into what we should do. But, in the end, it was nice and appreciated!
Where the Olde Harbour Inn truly shines (besides location), is it’s staff! They are FANTASTIC. Extraordinarily helpful and accommodating, they did everything they could to make us comfortable and ensure that we had all the information we needed to be efficient tourists and have a good time. Hands down, possibly the best staff I have ever met in hospitality!
Where the Olde Harbour Inn lost stars with me, was in the level of cleanliness of the bathroom. The tub had hair stuck in the drain (visible), there was (permanently?) stuck dirt on the hair dryer that is attached to the wall, and it just felt overall a bit grimy. I’m sure if we had mentioned this to the staff, someone would have probably come down to take care of it. However, everything else was so spectacular, and they were so nice, friendly, and accommodating, that complaining about something so insignificant at the time did not seem necessary. Had my travel partner said something to me, I probably would have, but who knows … maybe I’m just overly picky about certain things?
I really don’t have any complaints about the Inn. It was wonderful, and I would certainly stay here again. The one thing I do want to mention, is that the bed … can creak a bit. This was our first time in a B&B, so maybe this is to be expected because they are actual bed frames and aren’t attached to the floor, but knowing ahead of time would have been appreciated. So there it is.
Oh, and if you can, request a room that is not on the ground floor. There is nothing wrong with the ground floor (ours was on that level), but staying on a higher floor and having a view is always nicer!

I have no clue if this place is haunted or not. But. It did keep me up all night for two nights in a row from all the ghost stories I read in the room’s guestbook. I am a wuss.
The staff here is southern friendly. Everyone from the doorman to the front desk lady were wonderful and welcoming. I came with a big group, and they remembered what we did each day and suggested new spots to check out each morning after the continental breakfast.
The best two parts… the ice cream sammies that magically appear in your freezer when you come home after a long night of drinking mint juleps and eating pralines. Yummers. And. Wine and cheese hour. Courtesy of the hotel. I great way to start the night of fun or the night of ghost hunting in the loft area of your room.
