History
Established in 1998.
One Fish Two Fish was always a dream for Jennifer Grayson and Savannah seemed like the perfect location because it draws people from all over the world, the downtown area had yet to prosper, and it was near her family and childhood home on St. Simons.
So, in 1998, she applied for a $ 5000 loan, found a little storefront, bought a computer, opened the doors to One Fish Two Fish and never looked back.
Although she initially opened the shop in midtown, she soon discovered that her customers were downtown. So a few months later, she moved next door to her current location and became one of the first stores in the Downtown Design District. In 2002, she moved into the corner store, which used to be an old dairy building and has been there ever since.
She chose the store name, One Fish Two Fish, because it reminds her of her coastal childhood and is playfully catchy. She says she still laughs when the phone rings and she hears, «What is the catch of the day?»
Meet the Business Owner
Jennifer G.
Business Owner
Jennifer grew up on St. Simons Island, which is about an hour south of Savannah. She left the coast to go to the University of Georgia where she obtained a degree in marketing and merchandising. After college, she landed a job at Christian Dior in New York City where she opened the flagship store and then moved to Paris as a buyer for Dior’s haute couture collection. Leaving the fast-paced fashion world, Jennifer returned back to Georgia by taking a retail merchandising job in Atlanta. Her next venture was to Savannah. She opened the door to One Fish Two Fish in 1998 with just a $ 5000 loan and turned it into what it is today.
