Papillote

We stopped in for lunch on a weekend we were visiting Savannah, and we were unimpressed. I had the shrimp and prosciutto salad and my wife had the chic chicken salad. Both were very simple salads that are easily prepared. The taste was very bland, yet presentation was very well done. It seems they cared more about presentation than taste

I was pretty sad to go in and find that some of their ovens weren’t functioning. I simply couldn’t wait 45 minutes for a hot breakfast.
They are also small… maybe seating for 12 throughout the whole place. Not a place for a family, but maybe parties of three maximum.
The macaroons were great! BUT incredibly expensive. $ 10 for 5 macaroons. Yikes.

Yummy little place to have a little lunch. My husband and I shared a bouchee a la reine and an almond croissant. He also got a lavender macaroon and I ordered a biscoff macaroon. The lavender was definitely the best out of the two.

On this trip to Savannah, we were staying in one of the apartments on Brought on street. Waking up on Saturday morning /​afternoon, we were absolutely starving.
We walked by a couple of restaurants, finding lines out the door and relatively basic menus. On the way back to McDonalds, we noticed this small French café and as there was no wait, figured it was worth a shot.
The folks working here were absolutely delightful, and I ordered a cup of coffee and a Croque Madame. The coffee was quickly poured and was kept full throughout our brunch. It did taste slightly burnt, but not enough to really complain.
The Croque Madame was something that I will truly dream about for a long time. This was a sandwich, made on thick Texas toast (for lack of a better description) with ham and melted cheese and a fried egg on top. It was truly delicious.
Would highly recommend and definitely plan to come back on my next trip.

I love French food. Now, I’m no expert, but good food is good food. The menu sounds so appetizing that it’s hard to make a selection. Eventually, I ordered the shrimp and prosciutto salad, and it was so refreshing. The shrimp were large and juicy. Combining a light vinaigrette with salty, savory prosciutto is absolutely perfect.
While waiting, I couldn’t help myself, so I ordered the pink lemonade and a rosewater macaron. Delish.
I only wish this place was large enough to stay and bite. The ambiance is magnifique If you’re looking for sophisticated to-​go, please come here.

My husband and I randomly decided to come here for brunch and let me just say it was the best decision we made all week!
Charming little eatery that you order over the counter. He ordered the Melted Angel and I the Croque Monsieur. The husband just dug right in and did not stop until every last bit was gone. My plate was utterly delicious, everything about it was just perfect. Oh, and the cheese Flan was Amazing!
I just love everything about this place and can’t wait to explore the rest of their menu.

This is a cute little place on Broughton St. I found it while searching for places to go while in Savannah.
I ordered the Bouche a la reine, which was a fluffy pastry filled with mushroom and chicken in a creamy sauce. I really liked the pastry like outside, but the inside was slightly under seasoned to me and call me amateur but reminiscent of chicken pot pie.
My husband got the croque Madame, which is delicious and super crunchy and cheesy. That in my opinion was a better choice than what I got.
Both were great to taste and try though. No regrets in what we ordered. If you spend $ 10 you get a free macaroon on Unilocal.The Nutella macaroon was amazing! Probably the best I have ever tasted. It was a good size and crunchy on the outside with the soft gooey center. Yum! And not too sweet but pretty sweet. Loved it! Especially with the lorina French soda in blood orange flavor. Perfection!
Also the crime brûlée was so great. Perfectly vanilla and creamy, smooth texture. Yum!
I want more macaroons with the bottled French soda from this place already!

We stopped for lunch in Savannah on our way home from Orlando. I found this place on Unilocal and it has great reviews. The atmosphere is adorable. There is not a lot of seating and the majority of tables are tiny. There was one table that sat 6. It was a hot day and the restaurant was very warm, almost uncomfortable. They served warm water, with no ice. I made a terrible decision for a hot day and had the Tomato bisque. It tasted like marinara sauce, and needed salt. It was missing the creamy element I would expect from a bisque. I also had the brioche French toast, which was wonderful. It’s served with a fresh fruit compote, whipped cream and maple syrup. It had a crispy outside and soft inside. They served warm water, no ice. I had the caramel apple macaroon (which was free with my Unilocal check-​in), and it was amazing.

Stopped into this quaint, Parisian themed shoppe for a quick lunch. While the Eiffel heavy décor is a bit much, the food was scrumptious.
The cheese plate was $ 10, which was unfortunately not a good value for the amount of food received. Four tiny slivers of cheese, accompanied by 5 grapes, 2 prunes, a dried apricot and a handful of walnuts.
The Melted Angel, on the other hand, was well worth the $ 10 I paid. The brisket was as tender as a virgin on prom night, and the melted cheese provided just the right amount of umami backup.
I was full at meal’s end, but still found room enough for a single biscoff macaron. It’s like a party in your mouth, only you don’t have to clean up afterwards… because you’ve eaten it all and then your friends get mad at you for not sharing.

Papillote is a cute little storefront on bustling Broughton St. in Savannah where you can pop-​in for a made-​to-​order breakfast omelet, sandwich, and more, as well as choose from several house-​made pastries, macarons, and desserts. My friend and I found our way here on Sunday morning when, ill-​prepared tourists that we were, we forgot to either make reservations elsewhere or beat the morning brunch crowd. Fortunately, Papillote welcomed us with open arms, open tables, and no wait.
Since it’s counter-​service, and many people order to-​go, service is quick and table turnover is frequent. Therefore, Papillote is a good option for a swift meal that is still homey and satisfying, with an authentic French twist. The owner/​operator definitely was French, which is a plus, and you can tell she and her employees put a lot of love into their food. Plus, with only a $ 10 purchase, you earn yourself a free freshly-​made macaron. I chose her Nutella macaron, which was probably the most oven-​fresh macaron I’ve ever had, and it sure beats the mass-​produced La Duree variety! Seriously.
While they serve breakfast and lunch all day, the breakfast-​like items are not as plentiful as the sandwiches, soups, etc. However, the breakfast items they have are solid: made-​to-​order omelettes, breakfast sandwich, quiche, full-​service coffee beverages, and fruit. We each opted for the omelette, which includes 3 fillings, but be warned that the additional fillings are quite pricey beyond the included three. The omelette is more French-​style in that it’s not super-​fluffy or over-​eggy, but it’s cute and French and so fresh-​tasting. It was served with three slices of fresh baguette, plus delicious fingerling potatoes.
On a chilly, drizzly summer morning, it was nice to have a little window seat to watch the bustle of Broughton St. wake up while enjoying a well-​executed latte and fresh omelette.
Don’t forget the Unilocal check-​in for your macaron!

I have come back here repeatedly because if you haven’t already enjoyed the terrific French food from here, you certainly have not experienced the international side of Savannah.
The cuisine is well worth a try (which inevitably will lead to a return visit), and everyone there is extremely friendly and will ensure the best experience for your dine in or dine out experience.

Seriously the most consistently excellent food in Savannah. You can’t go wrong with anything that you order.

A fantastic little bistro, just off the main drag downtown. The cuisine is French-​American fusion, which is to say, a bit more cheese and a bit less butter than typical bistro fare. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The French theme is also not over the top, and there is absolutely nothing pretentious about the place. The service was fine, just not as friendly as our general experience throughout the city (which is otherwise the epitome of southern hospitality).

Overall I would say 3.5 stars.
A really quaint little lunch spot along broughton street. I ordered the bbq angel sandwich which I really enjoyed. Comes with a very small (think coleslaw dish) albeit very fresh salad. My boyfriend got the mango and crab sandwich, which he was not impressed by.
We each ordered a glass of wine to go with our meal. We did utilize the Unilocal check in and got a free macaron, which was delicious. Wish we could have had more of the patisserie dishes as all are freshly baked by the owner. All in all lunch cost about $ 50, I’ve had better in Savannah and particularly for the money.

We were feeling a little pimento-​cheesed-​out, so decided to look for fresher, simpler fare. This led us to Papillote, and in return, we have gratitude. The place is a simple, unassuming Parisian-​inspired bistro, where you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. I went with the prosciutto, shrimp, and arugula salad, and my friend got the house salad with added ham and cheese. Both salads were light, fresh, and delightful. Our only complaint (not even MY complaint) was that my friend got a glass of white wine, which she said was exorbitantly expensive.
They had a number of duck confit specials listed, and if I weren’t in a salad mood, I would have opted for one of those. As it was, the food was terrific, and the other diners’ options looked delish as well.

French food rocks here! It’s so good! When you check in and spend &10.00 or more receive a free cookie and they are sooo good!
Plastic all the way here so nothing fancy but everything is wonderful.
Please make sure and check the hours as well. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

We were debating whether to have a proper sit down lunch or get a sandwich to-​go from here. SO happy with our decision.
I got the special of the day which was a loaded baguette — turkey, bacon, tomato, spinach, and a basil aioli on a baguette. The baguette was crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. For other New Englanders reading this, the baguette was better than Iggy’s. The sandwich held up great for the walk down to Forsyth Park. Turkey was nice deli meat, not too salty. Basil aioli was fresh and flavorful.
I also got a sweet tea half cut to go.
PROTIP: Check into Unilocal and get a free macaron. I got the Nutella.

We had four dishes (wanted a duck burger but sadly it had sold out):
* a chicken with mushroom and bechamel sauce dish that was solid, but not spectacular.
* A French onion soup, again very solid, not quite blow-​your-​mind.
* A duck eggroll dish that had some pear and carrot in it – now, this was blow-​your-​mind, one of the more original dishes that I’ve had recently and HIGHLY recommended.
* A very tasty crème brule for dessert, delicious.
Take this as a 4.5 star review – this is a very good restaurant that does tasty but unpretentious French food.

L’ambiance, la nourriture, la musique… Papillote est mon favorite. J’aime bien le Croque Monsieur, c’est vraiment délicieux.

Reading through the reviews here, one will find a couple words that are commonly used to describe Papillote: «cute» and «quaint»… though fitting, I’d prefer the word «cramped». With enough room for only a handful of tables, I was pressed against the wall with insufficient leg room. I sat with my legs to the side of my chair as I labored to figure out how to eat my «Le Parisien».
Truly, how does one eat this thing? It’s an open-​faced sandwich with ham, swiss cheese, brie, and paper-​thin slices of green apple with a touch of honey-​mustard on crunchy and thick ciabatta bread. It was too large and clumsy to handle as a sandwich, it was difficult to cut through… I just had to «make do» and manage the best I could. It was fairly tasty though… something I couldn’t say about the bland salad that accompanied it. My wife enjoyed her roast beef sandwich special… hers could be eaten easily as it was a typical baguette sandwich.
Checking in with the Unilocal app, we were offered one macaron with $ 10 purchase. Of course, their sandwiches were strategically priced just under $ 10… naturally. So, we purchased one macaron to go along with the free one. These macarons were «ok». I’m accustomed to macarons being light and airy, these were more dense and chewy. That said, the flavors were pretty good.
While Papillote was a welcome reprieve from the greasy and fattier foods enjoyed while on vacation, I didn’t leave feeling impressed.
