The food was great, and the waitress was so sweet and attentive! Large portions and delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be back!

I have to say… The food was good. However, TWICE I have found hair IN my food. I’m not talking on the plate. This was cooked into the dish. The first time, the server asked if it was mine. Excuse me? Then the last time, the manager apologized but never even offered another dish or to take it off the bill. I was very confused and disappointed.

Not sure about the recent«inconsistent food» reviews. I have been coming here for close to 10 years and this place has probably had the most consistent food of all NJ restaurants I have been to. From their specials, appetizers and drinks, this is a place I look forward to going weekly. Chicken Parmesan and Shrimp fra diavolo rivals some of the best I have had in NY restaurants. Staff is friendly and portions are huge, trust me you will not be disappointed.

Camillos is our go to place for local Italian. There are always seats available and it’s a great place for a private party too. My favorite is the chicken piccata! It is divine! My only gripe is that the food is inconsistent and they don’t have gluten free options.

Had 60th birthday party for my wife last month. Excellent food, large portions, good service. A perfect place for a party or large group. We had almost 30 guests and everyone left happy.

Not my favorite Italian restaurant. I have been a resident of Sayreville my entire life and in that time I have visit camillo’s several times. Every time I have frequented this establishment I have left feeling a bit let down. I have found the food to be somewhat bland and quite unimpressive. Not taking away from the portion sizes, which are more then ample, it’s just the food is not quite what you would hope for from a restaurant that has been in business for so long. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a local establishment, relaxed and welcoming, with a home town feel. The service is on an off. I have had some servers that were excellent, helpful and courteous, but I have had servers that were down right lazy. Good consistent service goes a long way with me. On one occasion we actually had to clear away our own dirty dishes to make room at the table. Price is excellent, a lot of food for a good price, I just wish it was a bit better. I wouldn’t say stay away, but I have definitely had better Italian food.

Best restaurant ever! Great prices, great food and amazing service! Great for parties, they have an awesome back area to handle a larger group. Pizza there is the great and all the employees are so friendly! Camillo and Kevin the two owners always are there and always say hello! One of my favorites in the area!

The food was delicious!(I had the stuffed rigatoni) It definitely had plenty of flavor! The service was ehhh. They don’t take dirty/empty dishes off your table when they come to check on you. My server was a highschool kid, which is fine, but I felt a bit forgotten about when he sat down to eat with the rest of the waitstaff and I was waiting to pay my bill. I won’t let that hold me back, I’ll definitely go back; but this wasn’t a 5 star first impression. Easily could have been.

My family and I have been going to Camillo’s since they were in their previous smaller location. We LOVE their food and the service. All menu items are well prepared and consistent. We’ve had family parties in the back room that were also well done.

I don’t understand why this place has some bad reviews. The food and atmosphere were both great! Plus, this business deserves even more support from us because it was destroyed during Superstorm Sandy. The warm bread was perfectly baked and the olive oil spice dipping sauce was mm mm good! I ordered the Stuffed Rigatoni on the specials menu — it came in a sherry cream sauce with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and spinach. It was delicious and flavorful. My sister got a cheesesteak which she enjoyed and my parents both got veal parmesan, which they both devoured. The portions are so big though that we all had leftovers to take home. Overall, I’d definitely go back again. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

This place has gone downhill. It only gets many customers as it is one of the few restaurants in Sayreville. I’ve been here multiple times and each time the food has either been undercooked or chewy. It seems that most of the food is frozen and then just heated up. Would not eat here again.

I had to drop my previous review from 4 stars to 3. The reason for this was that my son said his Calamari tasted like they a were frozen big box store that was reheated. He said Gordon Ramsey would not have been happy. That being said, most of the food was good and I wouldn’t mind going there again. Needs tweaking to raise the rating.

Great food! Lovely Italian place. Their spaghetti meatballs is amazing, as it should be in an Italian restaurant. Heard they renovated & now have a nice bar inside after Sandy. Have yet to see :)

Been to this place three time, and it’s gotten worse each time. The food is horrible, the service was good, prices are high for what you get, atmosphere is nice, there is plenty of parking and they have great wine. One star? Yes, one star. The veal parmigiana is gross. Disclaimer — This is my opinion, not fact… if they are using real veal in the veal parmigiana then it is by far the worst veal I have ever tasted. If they are using white pork(which I think they are), then that is deceiving and not fair to the customer. And if they are using pork instead of veal, damn that is bad pork. The red sauce is forgettable, the portions are decent size and the pasta was fine. I just can’t get over how horrible the«veal» is. Let’s move on to the pizza. This is by far the second worst pizza(worst was in TN) I have ever had. If you put cheap red sauce and really cheap cheese on a cardboard box… it would taste better, but have the same consistency. All in all I really want to like this place. It’s a local restaurant in the community. They have great house wine in a carafe, decent atmosphere and good service. But the food is just plain bad! I’ve been there three times and each time was as bad as the other, and I will not go back.

I take it from other reviews that the restaurant was damaged by superstorm Sandy and closed for a while. The space is pleasantly decorated with a modern classy feel. So they did a good job on the renovation. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness of the place is questionable. There was a large dead fly right at eye level on the window ledge by our table, the tabletop hadn’t been properly cleaned after the previous guests, and the bread plates weren’t properly cleaned either. The food is pretty much the same as carry-out from your local pizzeria. If you say«that’s fine with me», then you’ll probably like this place. When I’m dining out in a restaurant, my expectations are higher than pizzeria take-out. We had the Mozzarella Caprese to start. The«fresh mozzarella» wasn’t fresh and neither was the prosciutto. The prosciutto was more like lunch meat than Italian ham. Both mozzarella and prosciutto were at least a day past when they should have been served to customers. They covered the whole thing with minced garlic from a can, probably because it otherwise doesn’t have any flavor. Overall, a pretty lame dish. Use fresh ingredients and lose the minced garlic. After the appetizer, it was obvious we needed to stay safe with the main course. So I went with chicken parm and my wife went for the«grilled chicken»(which is really a salad with grilled chicken on top). Generous portions for sure, but you can get this kind of average Italian food in any pizza shop in the area. Any reviewer calling this the«best» Italian food in NJ” doesn’t get out much. At best, they have the best Italian food in Sayreville… maybe.

The fish was old and smelled. The penne vodka with sauce with watered down. The steak was vey dry. The calamari was tasted like rubber. No water, nor asked. The service felt was unfriendly. Would not go again. also used same knife for butter as for main meal. Waitress asked when leaving… How was everything? Didnt care for it. Responded with… I can tell. wtf?

Camillo’s is my favorite local Sayreville restaurant. It’s been around since the 90’s and I believe the same people have owned it. I recommend making a reservation, especially if you have a large group or party. The portions are HUGE! I usually order Chicken Parmesan and it comes with pasta and salad. I always ended up taking my leftovers home. The pizzeria is on the right side of the restaurant and you can eat or order from that menu and eat in the main dining room. Their pizza is fresh and yummy! It’s pretty loud here and gets crowded on weekends. The parking lot gets full, but you can always park on the street or in another parking lot across the street. You’ll never go wrong at Camillo’s! It’s Italian hospitality and cooking at its best.
