Fairfield Inn Portland Maine Mall

What a great place! Clean, very nice staff and the breakfast was AWESOME! Our room was spotless and lots of amenities… we went to visit dear friends and it made our stay some easy, fun a stress free. While its not super fancy… its a great place to stay — children friendly — close to the Maine Mall as well! Thanks to the team @ Fairfield Inn!

Too bad I can’t give negative stars here. Where to start? The place reeks of smoke. the rooms, at least our two rooms were tiny. the ceilings had mold and and water stains on them. the beds seem to be recycled or out of a thrift store. I had High hopes though. we called Marriott and they moved us to the Residence Inn in Auburn. A fairly short drive and a World of difference. the rooms had to be at least twice the size and so Clean in comparison. This place should not have the Marriott name attached to it. it falls way short.

This hotel is conveniently located off interstate 95, a short distance from exit 1. We stayed at this facility on the first and last night of our 8-​night vacation to Maine. I was using Marriott points so both nights were free. At check-​in on our first night we were told there was a nightly 5PM manager’s reception and that rice and beans plus chicken were being served, it was meatballs and salad on our last night, but it conflicted with our plans for happy hour in downtown Portland so we took a pass. We have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past and the reception area appeared to have been upgraded a smidgen since last August or maybe our standards have regressed. I had requested an upper level room away from the elevator (singular) and was assigned room 308 with a breathtaking view of the parking lot. Room amenities include a king bed, table and chair, flat screen TV, mini refrigerator, microwave and soap. A hot breakfast is included that features fruit juices, make-​your-​own waffles, bacon, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, a variety of yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, canned fruit and more. Overall we found this facility to be one will continue to frequent.

I have stayed at this location Fairfield Inn numerous times. I’m a Marriott rewards member and feel I’ve been to enough locations to give a full review.
CONS: Small rooms. Not much of any view.
PROS: Customer service is the BEST, complimentary comforts overall, good location, comfortable, clean, always a room available and virtually no wait ever.
I can’t say enough good things about this location. If you are staying at a Fairfield and you know Marriott then you already know the rooms will be small. The rest is great.

Chose this Marriott for its convenience to restaurants and the airport. It was also more on the affordable side compared to the other Marriotts, especially downtown. I definitely was not impressed and even though the front desk staff was helpful, the service itself was definitely not up to the charm of the hotel.
The room was OK but definitely not as clean as I’m used to for a Marriott. The duvet had stains and it seemed like the carpet had not been vacuumed for quite some time. Even when I would request for service, I didn’t get it. They would make the bed and leave trash. The bed linen would easy slip off the mattress to see a cotton mattress cover falling to pieces.
The walls are very thin and you can hear everything going on in the hallways and the rooms next to you. There was a large group a few doors down and I could hear their entire conversation. This is a good choice for something quick and convenient but definitely not for the 4 nights that I stayed. I’d prefer to pay more for a Marriott quality hotel rather than what I got, unfortunately. I was really hoping it would live up to its charm the moment I walked in.

Stayed here for one night. It was alot cheaper than staying in Downtown Portland. 15 min easy drive to downtown. Lots of retail (dining & shopping) in the area. Everything u need.
The hotel was clean & updated. U need a room key to access the elevator which made me feel a bit more secure. Free breakfast & wi-​fi were added bonuses. Fridge in room. No complaints. Would stay again.

Older hotel building but pleasant staff offset that. Free breakfast gets very busy so seating can be difficult to obtain but again staff do well to help out during rush time

Weekend getaway to Maine from Boston and this hotel was perfect for it! The staff were so welcoming, kind, helpful and informative! Clean room, comfortable bed, heated pool, free –better than average– breakfast (included healthy options and a waffle bar). They have a free shuttle service and will drive you wherever you need to go including the airport, mall and gym. Jeff the manager went above and beyond and really reached out to all the guests during breakfast to see how their stay was going and helped in any way he could to make it excellent! I would definitely recommend this hotel, it is 2 minutes from the Maine Mall, 2 blocks away from Sebago Brewing Company, 15 minutes away from Old Orchard Beach and or Old Port Portland. Fantastic stay!

Marriott has always been my family’s hotel of choice and this one was a let down.
The hotel was extremely noisy, the bathrooms are teeny tiny, the pillows are terrible to sleep on, and the comforter was stained and had hair on it (that wasn’t mine).
Avoid and check out the Marriott Courtyard downtown.

Loved it. Nice, clean rooms, friendly staff. Great Continental Breakfast AND Continental Dinner. Stayed here for 6 nights and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. Coffee always available, large eating and/​or socializing area, several TVs. It’s conveniently located just off the main highway and very accessable to major routes. Handy to mall, Walmart, typical franchise strip, and the main draw CABELA’S. Elevator was well planned and is actually accessable at the front door. No walking down any halls. Free Wi-​Fi with optional upgrade for gaming.

Very clean, very straight forward hotel. Facility has a small pool that opens in June. Good breakfast scramble eggs and sausages, and waffles machine. Various yogurt, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, etc.
Do not expect Westin hotel but much better than normal budget hotels. Bathroom on small side but seem to have all been renovated. Road noise from neighboring high on the odd side (309) is not noticeable. I am a light sleeper, fridge is more noisy than road noise, had to unplug it.
Suggest you turn the air exchange on. Initially entering the room the air is a little stale. No problem after exchange.

This is your standard Fairfield Inn, i.e. Marriott’s budget chain.
The best thing about this place is that the staff are very friendly and cheerful.
The bathroom’s are small, but clean.
They have free wifi, which is only good for basic email checking, and high speed for $ 4.95/day (or free if you are a Gold or Platinum member). The ‘free wifi’ is sllooowwww…
Parking areas are well lit.
There is a decent amount of traffic noise.
Other than that, this is your typical Fairfield Inn.

Perfectly adequate, clean, & inexpensive lodging. Could use a slight facelift, but the staff is exceptionally cheerful & accommodating.

This place was GREAT! Very friendly and helpful staff, building was up-​to-​date (failry new) room was perfectly comfortable, tv was a nice lcd, bed was comfortable nice blanket and sheets, clean, was a really terrific experience.
It’s technically a 3 star but I gave it an extra because it felt right, was comfortable and happy all week.

Clean and comfortable. Certainly not a five-​star but for a late night stop it had everything we needed. One drawback was the miniscule bathroom. I’m giving it more then 3 stars because it had to comfort we were looking for. For the hundred dollar price tag it was just fine.

If this place added a fitness center, it would have gotten one more star. I loved the place, even though the rooms are a tad small and the bathrooms are clean but a little small also. Front desk was excellent and breakfast was fun for my family! The food was on the money, but waffle batter was a little dense. Great to be able to get coffee and the pool was super clean and towels a plenty.

We stayed here on a return trip to Boston in August 2013 since it had a great location near I-​295 and a large shopping mall. We arrived early and was assigned a room near the highway at the end of the hotel. I requested another room and the desk clerk was very polite and assigned me a room that was quieter.
The room was very clean with like new furniture. Yes, the bathroom is small but manageable since this basic room is for travelers The rooms are your typical MicroTel or Days Inn room at twice the price due to Marriott markups and area prices.
All in all we enjoyed staying here has an «inn on the road». Great location with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Good service at the hotel.

I travel for business, and I usually use Hilton chains, which in general are more comfortable and better service. My feelings about this stay were– Meh, I’ve had better.
Which was fine– the rate was right. Even when I get a good rate at my usual Hiltons I still get a full size bathroom, and a fitness center. Yea– no fitness center on site, not in the fancy remodel budget I guess. Also the re-​model fogot the mildew-​ed crack in the corner of my room. I happened to be across from the kitchen so I got to hear the breakfast start up, good cue to get up start my day! Nothing special. Oh well.

The front desk staff and lobby/​room staff was largely non-​communicative and distant. The lobby was decent, but the hot water provided for tea was brown. We stayed for four nights (November 12 — November 15) and our room was cleaned just twice. However, the attendant that was in charge of the breakfast area was friendly and attentive. Won’t be staying again.

Stayed here on my way up to Mount Desert Island since I’m a fan of Marriott in general. Staff was friendly, room was clean, décor was a bit weird, but didn’t really put me off. Sure there are a bunch of other places to stay in the area, but all you really need is a place to lay down, you’re not moving in! The one weird thing was the bathroom layout was a bit weird… cramped really. Other than that, great experience!
