In addition, the experience would not be complete without customer service playing a primary role in our day-​to-​day interaction with all of our customers. Zachys was a family business in 1944 and remains a family business today… SERVICE is our motto. Our website offers thousands of selections complete with label images and tasting notes and an inventory system that updates constantly. Our brick & mortar store is located in the heart of Scarsdale Village and conveniently located across the street from a MetroNorth train stop. Unique e-​mail offers/​catalogs are regularly released throughout the course of the year.

Manager

Andrew McMurray has been part of the Zacharia family (a.k.a. The son-​in-​law) and working at Zachys since 1993. Over the course of the 18 years he has been at the store he has played an active role at being the «voice of promotions» of the retail portion of the business. His energy and enthusiasm are infectious to all that work around him and he is never willing to rest on the store’s laurels.

Always looking to push the envelope, and is always happiest when he creates «Tumult» in his e-​mail promotions… It means he is pressing the right buttons!

With a GREAT passion for Italian wines (As this is where he got his start in the store) his tastes run the full gamut of the best of the best at all price points.

Still true about the high end. They seem to do you a favor if they exchange a bottle, even if it is bad wine that you’ve been embarassed to serve to guests. Customer service is probably lights out if you’re buying Château Petrus.

Zachys offers top notch tasting events. I came in recently for the champagne extravaganza I got to taste some great champagne at a variety of price points and had a great time! I’ll definitely be back soon!

DO NOT BUY ONLINE FROM THEM!!! The worst customer service. They shipped me the wrong wine. When I called them to resolve the matter, they were unprofessional and rude. I shipped the wine back to them and a week after they received it, I called them to find out when they would ship out the correct wine. The salesperson said the wine they shipped was the correct wine even though it wasn’t wriiten on the label of the wine. WOW! Is that an insult to my intelligence? To top it off, they are attempting to charge me a restocking fee. Thank you American Express for not allowing this company to get away with these business practices. Stay away from this company!

This place is the pits. I’ve been there a dozen times; I’ve bought, I’ve browsed, I’ve custom ordered. Every single time, I’m disappointed. They have a great selection, the prices are tolerable, but the service is non existent. They are well staffed, there are plenty of employees milling about, they just never acknowledge my existence. This happens every time. I try to make eye contact and gesture over, they see me and then go back to their phone. As much as I’d like to patronize the store, I’d rather burn the money than give them my business. I just see what they have and go on K&L wines instead. They should be ashamed, but they’re not. I’ve told them how I feel twice and they aren’t even apologetic. Sadly they’ll stay open since people with more money than sense are their client of choice.

This place rocks. I was visiting a friend this weekend and forgot a gift. Stopped in for a bottle and left with a few bottles (A CASE). If you ask for John you will leave with more than you were planning to get. I promise you!

I called to have 2 bottles champagne delivered locally for New years’ (I live out of state and found them on Google) and was told that they were «very busy and unsure whether they could do that and would need to check with the manager». The person I spoke with never bothered calling me back. I guess they were not interested in my business. I understand that they may in fact have been too busy but not following up is terrible customer service!
Another area wine store not only took my order but delivered it within one hour! The prices were the same.

While they may have a great selection of wine, they don’t share it with women, and in general are very dismissive of women going in to buy wine. I am a member of a wine club and consider myself fairly knowledgeable about wine. I have never had anyone take the time to show me the types of wines I’m inquiring about. Instead they generally point me to a cheap wine without much of a description or review. At first I thought I must have gotten someone there on an off day, however I’ve had this experience several times… I will not be patronizing them again.

Be careful if buying here from out of state. I ordered a mixed case of three wines during a sale, talked about it with their Customer Service department and was assured everything was OK and the required amounts were in stock, then, a couple of weeks later, just before shipping, they sent me an email saying that they had been mistaken and some of the wine I had ordered was not available.
I’ve bought wine from Zachy’s occasionally over the years, both ordering from a distance and having it shipped to my home, and stopping off and buying in person when passing through Scarsdale, but will not buy from them again, unless I am doing it in person and can pick out the bottles and fill the case myself, so I can see what I am getting.
There is an odor of scam here, and if not that, then lousy processes; either way, the customer buying from a distance, at least in my recent experience, does not get what they are promised. Buyer beware.

One week later: I wanted to update this to reflect the fact that Zachy’s behaved pretty well about this, under the circumstances. They were forthright with me, promptly admitted they had made a mistake, apologized for it, promised it wouldn’t happen again, and — without me asking — sent me an appropriate token of apology — a bottle similar to the type I had ordered. Given that the mistake happened in the first place and there was no way to fix it directly, I thought this was a pretty fair-​minded way to handle it: they didn’t try to duck, or waffle, or deny, but instead dealt with it in a professional and businesslike manner. So I’m changing my rating, from one star to four — and yes, after this experience, I would order from them again, at a distance. If by chance something does go wrong, my experience is that they will do their best to make it right.

I want to give a big shout out to Zachy’s and give praise to the team that gets little credit but does a huge and important job — the wharehouse and shipping team. Per the terms of Unilocal I can’t give her direct credit but I can say that Mademoiselle G D L was able to get my shipment turned around for me on a days noticed when it got warm this week despite being incredible busy. I love it when a company over delivers on what they promise.
The selection they have speaks for itself, I mean why else would I be shopping there in the first place but it’s the service that sells me.

Here’s the story. I bought wine as a pre-​arrival. When it arrived, without informing me that the wine was ready to ship Zachy’s shipped it to a wrong address. When it came back to them, they resold the wine to someone else. When I figured it out and complained, they were out of stock, and refunded my money. A bit later, I noticed that they had the wine back in stock. I called to ask them to fulfill my original order, and they refused because the new price was higher than my price. I wrote twice to management, and was ignored both times. There are *lots* of places to buy wine where you can get reasonable customer service as well.

Went to the store and paid for two bottles of johnny walker to be shipped, was sent an email with a reciept and then a few days later an email saying it was shipped, TWO WEEKS later the order still hadn’t shipped! But otherwise nice inside to the store and clean but I will not be returning

During my 8 month excursion for work in NYC, I spent a majority of it living just north of the city in Eastchester. One of the first things I did was look for the best wine shop in the area. There were a couple candidates early on; however about a month in I remembered, Zachys is in Scarsdale!!!
For years, I’ve been ordering some of my better wines through Zachys and during my time in NYC, Zachys became my primary wine provider. Considering its location, there’s a premium paid for buying from them; however the depth and breadth of their selection is phenomenal. This is my only gripe and in an odd way I was fine with it because this place is quality!
For all of you who are in the area, I suggest you stop by once a week and check out their ‘Enomatic Tasting Center’. It’s a fun way to learn, sample a bunch of wines that they are running specials on, as well as an opportunity to try a few that you wouldn’t normally splurge on. The selections are updated weekly on their website and can include anything from a $ 10 Vinho Verde to the $ 200 Super-​Tuscan Sassicaia!
As a collector, I truly appreciate their high-​end room as well. This is where they keep their better juice from older vintages. I’m not sure they’d want me to share this; however they always seem to hide some of the best deals in there for the discerning wine lover/​hunter.
Finally, their staff is helpful, knowledgeable, plentiful and passionate. They also have a commanding knowledge of their inventory, so when it comes to making recommendations to fit what you or your guest may enjoy, they’re more than able.
You guys rock and I’ll treasure the months I had as a regular patron.

From the street it doesn’t seem to be anything special. Walking through the front doors you are amazed to see a bustling wine /​liquor mart with a tasting bar and big screen TV.
The wine selections were clearly marked and offered desired tastes /​dishes to accompany the wine (nice touch).
Everything in the store seems to be at or below market price which is refreshing regarding the location in Westchester.
Not sure about my wine selection yet, but the store was great!

I give Zachys 5 stars on selection and depth of wine available but 3 stars on price. This place is way over priced and I only shop there when its a special they send out on email. Generally if its regular price its about 20% above market…
That being said I do order a few cases a year from them — but it is only when I see a sale from their frequent sale emails that is a good price…
