Erm. No. Not my favorite. The fam & I popped in here on a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon for two reasons: 1) To check out the closest grocery store to our new house and 2) Pick up just a few provisions for the week ahead. Simple enough, right? Not so much. You’d think this Dominick’s would be well-stocked, sensibly laid out and sparkling clean. Because, well, it’s not that old, it’s set in the heart of Schaumburg and just a stone’s throw away from the *awesome* library. Again, not so much. The lay out is confusing, the shelves left me nonplussed(so many items *thisclose* to expiration and some even past their expiration — yikes), and what’s even stranger — the store was practically empty on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. Say what?! It seemed twilight-zone ish. I’m not crazy about the Jewel down the street, but it’s a helluva lot better than this Dominick’s.

Most bizarrely laid out Dominick’s I’ve ever seen. I think that says it all.

I generally do not like shopping at Dominicks or Jewel but sometimes you just have to out of convenience. I have gone here several time since I moved to the area. Generally its an unpleasant experiene. On April 5th I went there to get a few things. While in the dairy department I saw a few things that were in the 50% off cooler. There was cottage cheese thatI often eat so I checked it out. It had expired 2 weeks prior. Is it legal to sell that? This area was full of expired items or about to expire items. The last time I had the pleasure to be rung up in the express lane by a young man name Brain. He has made Dominicks a happy place for me. He is very pleasant and personable. He is talkative but not annoyingly so and he helped us once with a refill on a propane tank.

Crap. Went here to get my license plate sticker. On a busy Sunday they had one real winner working the service desk. This guy didnt know how to work the program to renew the license plates so he thought he’d put on an acting clinic of «whats going on!!!»… «the system wont let me log in». Hey guy, just say you work for a company that doesnt care enough to train you — its ok. Not coming back again. See you folks at Jewel!

Going to write about the food area today. This place used to have a salad bar and now they don’t. I must say it took them forever to notice I was waiting to order my 3 piece chicken meal. Finally the lady came over after cutting like 100 pieces of deli slices. She was very nice though because she allowed me to substitute salads for my sides. SO3 pieces of chicken and 2 sides for 4.99, not a bad quick meal.

Bait and switch never ever have advertised sale items. Cashiers are either snotty middle aged woman who’s always there or 20 year olds looking everywhere but at what they’re doing so you have to rip the receipt out of their hands.

This Dominicks used to be my favorite, since it’s so convinent for me. However, everytime I bought food I would end up having one item that was EXPIRED! It really ends up getting annoying having to stress and check the tiny little dates, just to make sure I’m not buying spoiled food. Isn’t that the workers jobs? Also the shelves seem to never be stocked and are very dusty. The only plus is there are hardly any line for the register; but now I know why.

Do not shop here! Your health is at stake. Out of date food, surly employees, one register open… Sukky. Also EVERYONE that works the deli counter acts bugged when you want to order something.
