Larry & Dan’s Marathon Service

You know, a car is a funny thing. It’s almost like your baby since it is often an extension of you or an alter ego. Now that I’m older and oh so much wiser and in far less denial, I am now willing to admit that the car that was always recommended to need repairs did always need them. The staff is always friendly and now that I have returned back to the burbs, I am sure that I will once again be a regular.

Of all my reviews, I’ve decided this one is the top of my reviews. Time after time this place has exceeded expectations. Very reasonably priced also.

Apparently Air is costly at other places but not here.
They even offer assistance to anyone in need of it to fill them up.
Easy in & Easy out just next to the Schaumburg library. Not the largest gas station on earth but pricing is reasonable and being a small business, I love to support these places.

Larry & Dan’s is hands-​down the place to go for the service of your vehicle regardless of the nature. The price points are comparable, if not better, than other establishments and the service is impeccable.
Where else can you have car trouble at 8pm and have someone (Scott) call a mechanic (Jay) at home to troubleshoot the problem or rearrange their work schedule (Dan, Mike, and Jay on separate occasions) to get your car up and running in time for the family vacation without compromising their other customers’ needs?
Scott, Jay, Marty, and Mike have all done timely, quality work on my car and are knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. The many women that handle the service desk answer your calls with your name, are thoughtful and kind, and Dan is always ready for any questions you have and a high five for the kids.
You don’t get price-​gouged, and there «isn’t always something wrong» when they check your car. They make their money on repeat business from quality service not overpricing parts and labor.
It’s nice to know that in this day and age, the customer-​first, service-​oriented mentality still exists.

Intelligent, fast, high integrity. Puts the customer very much first. Saved me a lot of headache and money with their very fast repair job. My car was done in less than a day’s time on very short notice. High quality work that matches high level of customer service. I recommend them to everyone who asks for a great repair shop.

It’s hard to find a service station that is honest and reliable. Larry and Dan’s is just that. Fix what’s wrong, dont try to up-​sell unnecessary stuff, get the work done on time. This place is great. Feel lucky to have them nearby.

My car needed, believe it or not, a new gas tank. Took it to Larry and Dan’s for an estimate. Dale came back with an estimate for a new tank installed… ouch. He then took the time to track down a used tank in another state of all places. He saved me $ 1,000!!! As far as I’m concerned Dale went above and beyond to help a customer who had never even been to their service station before. I am definitely a fan and would highly recommend them! Thanks Dale!

Very friendly and good customer service. We were in from Cleveland for the weekend and had a wheel bearing completely blow up just as we got to the hotel. Called around 8:30pm and Scott told me it shouldn’t be a problem for them to take care of Saturday. I managed to make it in at 8am and met Scott and Jay. Jay confirmed it was the bearing. The wheel was almost locked up at this point and sliding in the snow instrad of rolling. Mary wrote up the order and even offered a get me a ride if I needed. Jay shifted his schedule a bit to take care of my suburban right away since he knew I was in a bind. Mary was very friendly and we talked the entire time between what I could tell were happy trusting customers coming in and out. Jay showed me the destroyed bearing after he had already put the order in and had the new one on the way. I was out by 10:30 and relieved to be on my way. I was happy to find a place that was so friendly and helpful thanks to Unilocal.Mary, Jay and Scott were all very friendly and really turned what could have been a very bad weekend into a great experience. I will remember them. Hopefully they take care of you as well as me.

This place gets 5 starts because they have free air. This is a smaller gas station with friendly customer service. The free air is icing on the cake. I am used to seeing 75 cents for air in the area, but this place takes an extra step to keep customers happy.

Free air and gas on the cheap! I always feel like they have cheaper prices than others in the Schaumburg area. We are frequently over by the town square area, so we always stop here! Nice little place, no complaints! Keep up the great work, Larry & Dan!

I have been going to Larry & Dan’s for quite some time now. First thing that comes to mind is how friendly & helpful these people are. Connie who works the front desk is awesome. The owner Dan is super nice & everyone always greets you by your first name. I have used several mechanics here over the years & have never had a problem. They will definately «go the extra mile» for you. re. car rides home, etc. at no charge. I would recommend this place for sure. Good solid family business. Never have left here with some huge car repair bill. Rarely do I get a list of other things «wrong» or «about to go wrong» that they suggest needs to get fixed. Check this place out.

You won’t be able to buy a hot dog, gallon of milk, or ice cream here. However, you can have your car serviced here. Indeed, it is a service station. There are not many of those left, anywhere.
You will not have to worry about being cheated, lied to, ripped off etc.
You will be treated very nicely. You will be very happy with the service that you receive.

I’ve been going here for a couple years now. They are generally an honest, no frills repair shop. They do what they need to do to get your car fixed and will tell you what you might need in the future, but don’t typically try to sell you unnecessary parts/​services. They also are reasonable on costs (don’t get me wrong, car repairs are expensive!). However, I have had one bad experience with them in that they charged $ 30 to fix an issue that was a result of a repair that they did a week and a half prior (whether they knocked something loose or just didn’t put it back on tight enough, i’m not sure). Come on guys, that’s the kind of stuff you need to just admit that it’s a part of finishing the job, get it done, and get the customer out of there. Besides that, no issues so far. If it weren’t for that one, i’d give them 5 stars. Unfortunately, that kind of stuff is a problem. It takes your customers time to pick their car up and bring it back again for further issues.

wow! fast service! I went in because one of my tires had a slow leak and I asked them to look at it! I think the guy who helped me was Mike?. There was nail stuck in there, he went and grabbed 3 tools and fixed it right there on the spot! I was in and out of there within 5 minutes, no joke, 5 minutes and it only cost me $ 13!!! I work at a hardware store and the parking lot often has nails and screws on the ground from the trucks of contractors, this wasn’t my first nail! so I will definatly be bringing my car there again! Oh and I think they have fairly priced oil changes after 5pm, $ 22! Goodbye Juffy Lube! Hello Larry and Dans! thanks guys!

Great friendly service and good prices for oil changes. Been here a couple times and they really seem to care about your car maintenance and your satisfaction.

The best compliment I think I can give a mechanic is that I feel like I can trust them and that is why I would recommend Larry & Dan’s. They always do good work and I feel like they are not trying to make as much money off of me as they can which is good business because I go back to them for everything and recommend them to others. If you are looking for a mechanic in the area and are unsure who to go to put your mind at ease and bring it to Larry & Dan’s.

Put simply, this place is the best.
I’ve been going to Larry & Dan’s for years now, not only for gas, but also for repairs and tune-​ups. The entire staff is super friendly, honest, and always willing to help. Today I came in because I had a problem with one of my tires. Dan came right out to look at it, fixed it on the spot. That’s just a small example, as these guys regularly go the extra mile for their customers. I know nothing about cars, so having a good, solid, trustworthy mechanic nearby is invaluable. Don’t even think twice about coming here… they’re the best in town!
