Description

Specialties

Audio mastering is arguably one of the most critical, but often the most misunderstood part of the audio production process.

Your mastering session is the final step — The ultimate hours of the assembly of your project. Levels set — EQ tweaked — Stereo field adjusted — Fades established — Dynamics optimized. The mastering session is the last chance to get your project sounding its best before manufacturing or digital distribution.

The professional results you desire at rates that make indie labels blush. This isn’t a «cookie cutter» service… Serious results, in a dedicated mastering suite, with a reasonable price tag. Bottom line.

History

Established in 1995.

The vision of former JEM Music Complex chief engineer & senior mastering engineer John Scrip, MASSIVE Mastering provides artists and labels an affordable, top-quality, dedicated audio mastering service. Modern and ‘old school’ techniques mesh with a chain of world-class analog technology that any mastering studio would be proud to utilize.

Meet the Business Owner

John S.

Business Owner

After interning and freelance engineering at several local studios in the 1980’s, John was hired by Engel Media to create a private project studio for the owner in Niles, Illinois. Quickly outgrowing the original space, along with the idea to open the studio commercially, he was charged with conceptualizing the design and implementation of the JEM Music Complex.

John was hired on as Chief Engineer, overseeing studio operations and eventually was asked by management to add basic mastering options to the studio’s available services. John went from a ‘passing interest’ to intense study of the craft, sitting in with and eventually working alongside some of the most proficient mastering engineers in the area. This eventually led to a side-step to Senior Mastering Engineer at JEM and eventually creating MASSIVE Mastering LLC, which now serves a diverse clientele from around the world in all genres.

Quite literally, «from rookies to Royalty, from garage bands to Grammy contenders.»
