Olde Schaumburg Dental

This is one of the best dental experiences I have ever had! I just moved to Schaumburg and hadn’t found a dentist yet in town, I found this dentist on Unilocal,and I’m so glad I did! I called hoping to get an appointment asap, due to my permanent retainer coming detached, and I was able to get in the same day! Talk about awesome! The front desk staff was so welcoming and and nice. Like they were excited for you to be there. I saw Dr. Turnwald, he was kind, friendly, and professional. He did a wonderful job fixing my retainer. I will for sure be returning for future visits! Happy to have found such a great dentist close to home.

The customer service was excellent. My filling was handled well, Dr. Stump was efficient and professional, and Jeannie, at the front desk, was exceptionally polite and proficient. I requested my itemized bill and Kim was prompt in response.
Service was great, excellent follow up, and would highly recommend this place!

For all those that experience anxiety and aren’t the best patients when it comes to your Dental appointments — can’t say enough about this place! I spoke to Janie and she was was able to set me up today same day for an emergency appointment. My crown came out yesterday and I had driven to Happy Smiles today at 7 am (their open time) thinking I could get in there but they weren’t even open so I left half an hour later.
I’m so glad I found them on Unilocal as Dr Stump was able to get my crown back on and Mike his assistant was great. I even have a dental cleaning appointment in a few weeks! They were patient with me and caused me zero pain and made me feel at ease. Thank you!!!

This review is long overdue. I’m from Austin, TX so Olde Schaumburg is not my usual dentist, but the night before flying up for meetings in Chicago I chipped my front tooth, called this office from the airport in the morning and they were able to get me in that day during lunch when I landed! Dr. Turnball was great, and took as much concern as I in making sure this front tooth filling was perfect. The office staff was very welcoming and even have me a full office tour and introductions even though I was only a one-​time patient.
Also, the massaging chair and heated neck pillow during my treatment were a huge plus! Unfortunately it’s not convenient to have a dentist 1500 miles away, but I would certainly recommend this office to anyone in the area.

Just moved to the area and searched Unilocal for a dentist. I wasn’t thinking anything would pop up but was surprised when it did! Wow a perfect score for a dentist? No way! Called and scheduled an appointment for a cleaning and was able to get an evening appointment about a month out. They called me to confirm which was a definite plus. I was greeted by Michelle at the front of the office. They gave me a tour of the office and showed me everything. Nice touch. Extremely clean. I mean I didn’t see dust, smudge, nothing. Very sterile environment. A cozy pillow that smells like lavender… umm YES!!! They explained everything as she went along. A new device to me was the water pic. A little weird feeling but I’m pretty sure it did the job. I have to go back for a consult on my issues and a cavity. lucky me. Great professional, clean business. Would highly recommend.

I have been coming here for years and have always had a good experience. I’ve come to both the morning and evening staff and always find service to be prompt, courteous, and gentle. I feel they go above and beyond to ensure that patients are comfortable… they even offered me a neck pillow!
I recently tried to make an appointment at a time that was convenient for me, but they had none available. So I took one for a less convenient time, but they said they’d call me if anything in my preferred time slot opened up. And they actually DID it, even though it had been more than a week since the initial phone call. Such great service!

I got a call the next day after I left a message and explained that I was under the impression that my appointment was at 7:30pm; the woman at that time said that they close at 7pm so the appointment was for 7:30am — I asked why I wasn’t called when I clearly didn’t show up and they said they generally do calls the day before but since I booked the day before, there was no call. They asked if I wanted to reschedule and I wasn’t really interested in giving this place another shot so I said I’d just call back.
Fast forward a few weeks and I receive a voicemail from Michelle — she said that they were sorry for the misunderstanding that occurred with the first appointment and saw the review here and really wanted another chance by offering me a free cleaning. I called and said that would be fine.
I had my appointment yesterday and they went above and beyond to make my visit great. Once the new patient paperwork was complete, I was offered bottled water and taken on a small tour of the office by Courtney. Courtney was very friendly, hospitable, and explained different things I should be doing while she completed my cleaning. After, I met with Dr. Stump and he did a quick look at my teeth after the cleaning. He said that we would have to make an appointment to do a full exam and x-​ray that would take longer than the allotted time we had that day.
After my appointment, I waited with coffee for my fiancé who said that he had a good appointment as well. It was a better experience so I will keep with it for now. Just as a reminder, the parking lot is in the back but the entrance is around the front following the path on the side of the building.

Both Dr. Stump and Dr. Turnwald are great at keeping your smile looking its best. I lost a filling earlier this year and was able to get an immediate appointment to get my mouth fixed up. I’ve been coming here for my entire life and am lucky to have such an awesome dentist.

I would (and will) recommend Olde Schaumburg Dental to anyone looking for a dentist.
From the second you walk in, you’re hit with a feeling of comfort. Their office and the staff is so warm and inviting — and they are genuinely happy to see you. They give a full office tour to new patients (which I was). The consultation room is completely private — and again, comforting. I had my teeth cleaned by Courtney, and she is not only thorough, but incredibly knowledgeable and offers great simple and effective tips. The communication between the staff and the doctors is impeccable. They speak professionally, warmly and in a concise manner.
I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Turnwald and Dr. Stump during my two visits so far — and both give you the feeling that you are in the best hands available. And, you really are.
Financials are explained fully and politely and they offer payment options, which I think is just fantastic for those of us who don’t have dental insurance.
Again, I’d strongly recommend Olde Schaumburg Dental — I’m so thrilled to have found them.

I was looking for a new dentist in Schaumburg and i found this place on Unilocal.I read the reviews and decided to visit. I went for a routine teeth cleaning and met Leah, the dental hygienist, she is wonderful, pleasant, and very knowledgeable about her job and your teeth. She handled my teeth with care. She was very thorough in explaining procedure and answering any questions you may have. Next, I met Dr. Stump and he is awesome as well. They made my experience comforting and pleasant. I will be back and refer my friends here!!!

I love this place. Very friendly and helpful! Plus, a small discount if you pay with cash or debit card the entire amount vs a payment plan.

I was a patient here in the early 80’s, when I lived in the area. When I moved, I went to another dentist. Well, a couple others. But after the last one screwed up (I think he had a drinking problem) I went back to Dr. Stump. So now I make a 60 minute trip to the dentist. Because I know I’ll get top quality care.

This office is great! From the moment you walk in, you feel comfortable. I needed a lot of work done, and they didn’t make me feel self conscious at all. The staff is very professional and caring. I’ve seen both doctors, and they’re both very thorough, and want to make sure you know each step of a procedure, and they explain everything thoroughly. They also offer a warm neck pillow, and music while having work done, which is a first. They really understand what the patient expects. I’m very satisfied with everyone at the office :)

I was a little nervous about going to the dentist since I have not been to one in a long time… The staff was very informative, professional, and super friendly. I will definitely be a regular. Awesome dentist office.

Let me start by saying that I am one of those people who are terrified of the dentist. As in, I want to vomit at the thought of going — it’s a phobia. It’s been 3 years since I last went (to a different dentist) and the experience was… well, not that great.
I read the reviews on Unilocal about Olde Schaumburg Dental, and everything seemed so positive. As I’ve experienced, they are all true.
The entire staff is so friendly, to start. They know your name, give you a tour of the office, and stress that they want to make you comfortable. The Patient Care Coordinator, Jim, is so personable and easy to work with, and explains all the insurance and financials very well. My first appointment was for a cleaning, performed by Emma, and it was great. She brought out the lavendar-​scented neck pillow (awesome!) to help me relax. She was very gentle, and it was a great experience. Dr. Turnwald came in to examine my teeth, and he too was gentle using all the instruments, and it was a pain-​free exam. My 2^nd appointment was a very thorough one, and as I suspected, I needed some work done on cavities.
My 3^rd appointment (today) consisted of 3 fillings. Dr. Turnwald and his assistant, Terri, were incredible. I got the warm neck pillow again, and Terri brought me their iPad with noice-​cancelling headphones so I could crank up some music on Pandora to cover the sound of the handpiece (read: drill). Turns out, when you can’t hear the WHIRRR of the drill, you barely notice when it’s on. Dr. Turnwald and Terri worked very well together, efficiently doing a ton of work in what felt like no time at all. If I so much as flinched, they would stop and ask if I was ok, and give another shot if I needed it.
I can’t recommend Olde Schaumburg Dental enough. They’ve turned this nervous nellie in to a confident dental patient. I know at my next appointment, everyone will remember my name, the staff will be so friendly, and most importantly, it will be painless.

I’m not one to write a review but I’ve been to Olde Schaumburg dental on 4 different occasions now and they are the most professional, experienced dental office I’ve ever been too. The staff there is amazing and very friendly.
I’ve worked in guest service industry for years and one of the key things to remember about your customers is their name. The whole staff at Olde Schaumburg Dental remembered me each and every time I went there.
Dr. Benjamin Turnwald did a fantastic job explaining in detail my oral exam and the options I had in perfecting my teeth. I know now I will be in good hands with Dr. Turnwald and his staff when I return in a few weeks to get Invisalign braces.

–The most comprehensive, thorough dental treatment I’ve ever received.
Now on to the details…
I absolutely hate going to the dentist so I had been avoiding it… for like 6 years… So in a moment of clarity, I decided to call Olde Schaumburg Dental and I’m really glad I did. The woman that answered the phone was very nice and when I told her about my irrational fear of dentists, she let me know that I called the right place. I figured that’s what any dentist would say, but she wasn’t kidding; I couldn’t have picked a better place!
Since I hadn’t been to a dentist in so long, they scheduled my first appoint as more of a consultation, and not a cleaning. They brought me in and gave me a tour of the place and introduced me to everyone. Next Dr Stump brought me in to a consultation office to come up with goals and a game plan for what I wanted to achieve. Most dentists just look for cavities and clean your teeth but Dr. Stump seems to be much more interested in the overall health and well being of his patients and their mouths.
After a pretty detailed and lengthy conversation about what I wanted to achieve and why I was so afraid of the dentist we moved on to an exam. This was by far the most extensive dental evaluation I’ve ever received! They looked at the gums around all of my teeth and documented everything in detail. Next, they evaluated all of my teeth, documenting any filling or cavity they saw. Finally they took xrays, pictures and made a mold of my mouth.
After the exam it was back to the consultation room and the verdict was in. I had two cavities and they also suggested a debridement which is a type of cleaning focused on cleaning the gumline. They scheduled me for the next day so I could come in and get everything over with.
The next day I came in and met with Leah (I think that’s her name) for my cleaning. She was great! I was petrified but she assured me that everything would go great and I wouldn’t feel much pain at all. She was right! She was extremely thorough and did a great job!
After the debridement, it was on to the cavities. Dr. Stump wasn’t available but everyone assured me that Dr. Turnwald was just as great. He was extremely kind and did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable. They gave me some numbing gel before giving me a few shots to numb things up. They also give me some nitrous as well. They even gave me an iPad to listen to music so I didn’t have to hear the drill!
Everything went great! I can safely say that this is the best dentist I’ve ever been to. If you don’t like the dentist and you’ve been avoiding making a dentist appointment, you should really call this place. They’re great!

I’ve been to many dentists all around Chicago, and most times, the experience has been fairly standard, which isn’t saying much, but it gets the job done.
I’ve been here 3 times, each with different treatments, so I’ll breakup the review in segments:
*The Initial Visit — Meet and Clean:
My next agenda for dental work was getting my teeth straighten and this time I needed to find the right doc. After talking to a lot of people on the importance of going to a highly recommended dentist, not to mention after a bad experience with an oral surgeon, I decided to check out my Pharm D friend’s dentist, Dr. Turnwald, whom she highly recommended. It’s sort of like being in the inside of a secret society.
As soon as I walked in, the office décor reminded me of a bed and breakfast. Even the staff is very personable and on my first visit they showed me around and introduced me to everyone.
Once you get seated in the chair, you can get a warm lavender scented neck pillow. Leah was my oral hygienist and was very careful and thorough with my teeth cleaning. After several days, I could still feel how clean and smooth my teeth were.
Of course, the real reason I came was to meet Dr. Turnwald and to give me an assessment for correcting and straightening my teeth. He came in gave me an initial exam and another type 2 exam had to be rescheduled.
*Type 2 Oral Exam — the Agenda — perfect smile:
On the second visit, it was an hour long thorough examination, photos, inspection of each tooth and gum, a synopsis of x-​rays, and then options for treatment ranging from conservative to aggressive including an estimate of costs and a Q&A so I can walk out with plenty of info ready to make my big decision. This is what makes my dental experience truly exceptional. Friendly and informative, never rushed. Dr. Turnwald is also licensed to do Invisalign, but his professional opinion suggested braces which was what I ended up doing and he recommended me a wonderful orthodontist.
*Teeth Twist Out:
I had a baby tooth removed as part of my orthodontic procedure. Normally, the dentist has to do this, so back to OS dental with Dr. Turnwald. The whole procedure took less than 10min, very gentle and painless, and yes I did have my warm lavender neck pillow and some extra strength painkillers in case the novacaine wore off. Nice touch.
Also, as an FYI for insurance purposes, they are not part of a network, which means that they can choose the best labs and providers. Last time I went, they do take care of the paperwork.

Needless to say, I’ve been TERRIFIED of the dentist my entire life.
It had been six years (yes, I know…) since I went to the dentist.
Enter Dr. Turnwald.
Dr. Turnwald was highly recommended to me by a friend. I decided I should probably grow up, face my fear, and just go… So I made an appointment. They have plenty of office hours, including later in the evening as well as Saturdays (yay for working people!).
Fast forward a week: que the anxious and terrified patient…
I was greeted by the friendly staff who welcomed me to the office and gave me all my ‘new patient’ paperwork right away. They took care of all my insurance, which is great, because I hardly know anything about it. The waiting room was comfortable. Although I have to say I didn’t wait long.
Dr. Turnwald introduced himself, but couldn’t get too far before I cut him off and told him how nervous I was. He assured me everything would be fine. The office was clean and well organized. Then the moment of truth… I have to get into the chair and start the exam. Dr. Turnwald was patient and dealt with all my anxiety so well which put me at ease. He took the time to explain everything that he was doing and what it all meant. The assistant was also very patient and helpful when doing all the x-​rays, and throughout the whole appointment.
Overall, a great visit. I would have to say I’ll probably even go back for my 6 month appointment. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like a VIP from the minute you walk in the door. Dr. Turnwald was very professional, thorough, and never made me feel bad about my… um…lack of dental appointments over the past 6 years. And bonus… NO CAVITIES! :)
