Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital

I have been going to the Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years. My experiences with the doctors have been exemplary. I have taken my pets here for well visits, various surgeries, emergencies and heart breaking passings. I feel my beloved pets receive the best care I can give them at this practice. I’m my pet’s first line of defense for their health. I am 100% comfortable discussing their care and costs of treatment options with the doctors. The doctors have always treated my pet’s with gentle compassion and kindly explained things to me when new things are available or arise. As long as I live in this area I will continue to take my 3 dogs here for all of their care with total confidence. I have encouraged several friends to bring their pets here and they too have become satisfied customers. It is nice to see the practice grow and improve!

Dr. Bloomberg and staff are so kind and the follow up is amazing! Dr. Murphy is a gem too. They all care so much. They truly take the time to listen and work with you. We feel blessed to have found such a great vet as we are new to the area. And the long hours give us peace of mind. They are always willing to work us in if needed. Thanks for caring so much for our little «boys»!!

I’ve been going to them for over 3 years now. People who follow my reviews know I rarely give 5 stars. There’s guys deserve every bit of it. They are reasonably priced, inexpensive, to be honest.
I don’t think there’s a bad vet out there but these folks are exceptional. All the previous reviews are spot-​on. They take time to explain what they’re doing, and what they recommend and why. They know how to communicate with your pet and especially the owners.
I’ve had a couple scares with my Cavalier, they’re prone to lots of health issues. Each time they’ve been very kind, patient, and gentle with pet and owner.
From the receptionists to the medical assistants to the doctors, they’re all incredible people who do love they’re work.

Took in my 14 year old chihuahua last night after hours for an Emergancy on a Sunday night. Dr. Holleb diagnosed her with a uterus infection. He was able to tell right of the bat with just an exam which was (85 $ Emergancy). We proceeded with further exams to know how advanced the infection was. The vet tech Ashley was AMAZING. She was so kind, and took her time explaining every little detail. She truly cared about my Molly and her health. Not once did my sister and I feel like they were trying to take our money. we took everything step by step. The cost for the surgery would be out of our budget at the Schaumburg veterinary hospital. So as I’m writing this review I’m at the animal welfare league and Molly will get surgery here. I called every vet and hospital around the Schaumburg and Hoffman estates area and Schaumburg Vet had the cheapest Emergancy exam fee. Thank you so much Schaumburg Vet Hospital. And thank you again Ashley for being so sweet. I would definitely bring my other dogs or Molly here for an emergency or a regular check up.

I had a emergency last night and they advertised on the voice mail they were open until 12 am we got there at 11 am everything was closed lights were off and everything our dog had a deep cut we had to wait until morning to go to petsmart vet. Will never use them again.

Can’t begin to express how grateful we are that we found Dr. Jeff Bloomberg and Schaumburg Vet Hospital. We have been dealing with vets for our many loved animals for decades. Some good, some not so good. But both my husband and I agree that there has been no vet as great as Dr. Jeff. The whole hospital has been amazing to us, but Dr. Jeff has a special place in our hearts. We have been seeing Dr. Bloomberg for about a year. We trust him so much, we never want to see anyone else. Figured, if it ain’t broke… Well, tonight we had an emergency and went to the late night emergency service they offer. We were a little nervous because we have been spoiled by Dr. Jeff. However, our awesome dog Veto got to meet Dr. Melanie Murphy. She was amazing too. She was extremely knowledgeable, personable and kind. Should know Dr. Jeff wouldn’t keep anyone on that wasn’t top notch. Dr. Jeff treats us like family and our pets are like our children. He knows everyone and everything about all of our 5 beloved cats and dogs. If only I could find a general practitioner and dentist we felt this way about. :) Thank you and please never, ever retire Dr. Jeff!

My first review gave this vet office 4 stars but after today’s events, they earn 5 stars.
Today my maltipoo went for grooming at a nearby pet store. And long story short we was injured during his grooming visit. I felt horrible when I picked him up and the first place I could think of taking him for emergency care was Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital. Schaumburg Vet took care of him right away. Vet who attended my baby was very empathetic regarding injuries and explained everything. Reception was very warm and caring.

Awesome doctors! One of our rescue dogs was born with a heart defect, she got very sick late one night, they stayed there until we arrived at the hospital. They were great and understood our concerns and helped us through her passing a few months later, with cards and phone calls. We now have two other dogs and we would never take them anywhere else.

Dr. Vite is fantastic, always taking the time to explain in detail the issues with our pets, and he seems to have a real passion or what he does. I’ve had many experiences here from regular appointments to a case where my puppy almost poisoned herself and have even had to have dogs put down here. Each incident was handled expertly and kindly.
I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a vet.

I still love this vet and all they do to make you and your pets feel like family. I recommend them to all of my friends and family since I know this practice will go the extra mile to ensure the health of your pets.
I had to come in on Friday this week to have my pup Minnow checked out for his ears, and the infection has made him unable to hear. I was not able to see either of the Dr. Bloomberg’s, and I was a little worried going in, but due to yhe severity of the issue he couldn’t wait. The doctor was absolutely wonderful, and Minnow even wanted to leave with her to go back to the lab. (Even after blood work and a nail clipping!)
Thank you to all the staff at Schaumburg Animal Hospital! I’m looking to move further out, but will still make the trip to ensure my pups get the best care possible.

I took my dog to the Schaumburg Vet hospital many times throughout the year I lived in Schaumburg, for vaccinations, checkups, overnight boarding, and getting her spayed. The staff there were always quite pleasant and knowledgeable, and while my dog is always nervous being boarded regardless, I felt much more comfortable boarding her here than at a Petsmart or something. This place’s prices are reasonable, they follow my feeding instructions, and my dog gets walked a few times a day. Very pleased with all the services provided here, and sad that I no longer live near enough to use them anymore!

This rebuttal is not correct AT ALL!
#1. Dr Walters from Petco verified on the phone that he did not remember which side near the rib cage he gave the shot
#2. If it was a cancer tumor that how come it has disappeared? i certainly was not a where that cancer disappears? Are you?
#3. The 2^nd opinion Vet which came from the folks at Creatures big and small in lake Zurich confirmed the lab report was incorrect and they were the folks that discovered the so called ‘Tumor’ bump had almost disappeared! They also confirmed Ginger did not have any form of cancer but a bump which was concluded its source was from the rabies shot Dr Walters gave, This Vet Bloomberg should be not practicing medicine because it was told to him before he examed my Ginger that she had received her rabie shot from Dr Walters at Petco clinic the real truth is that Dr Bloomberg saw an opportunity to make extra money by doing an unnecessary surgery procedure. I am an honest person who adores animals Do not believe a word this man says it’s all about the $$ MONEY with him and his wife they need to be shut down don’t trust your animals with this clinic or you will be very sorry !

It’s a tad bit expensive for my taste. Did not like the vet, lacked bedside manner and empathy for the pet. I was irate and concerned about the pet health and not very well reassured. All in all not the best of experiences bit will give them another chance and revise this review if the next encounter is better.
They need to tell people up front about the charges etc and what they suggest so that an informed decision can be made about what we want for their pet.

I needed a close by emergency vet because my regular vet was closing in a few minutes and their emergency partner is in Berwyn. I immediately checked out vets on Unilocal,called a few places and Schaumburg veterinary hospital was the only one that would see my pup without him being a current patient.
They saw him right away. Explained the tests they needed to run. Thoroughly explained the results and gave me all the information I needed. They did this all with a smile and the greatest amount of patience.
After my visit, I received a follow up call with another vet. I really appreciated it because it shows their genuine concern.
Now for pricing. EXTREMELY reasonable. What I paid for an emergency visit was probably less than what I pay for a regular visit with my former vet. I obviously made the switch over to Schaumburg veterinary hospital.
On more than one occasion I’ve called asking for a call back from a vet., and they always call back! :) thanks from me and my pup.

Apparently this practice… after inadequately removing a cancerous growth… ultimately triggering one that was a death sentence for my cat about 6 months later… now has a policy against providing emergency care for any of my pets.
Oh… and even though it’s an $ 85 up charge to come in as an «emergency»… you would STILL be expected TO WAIT during normal business hours… to be squeezed in between the regular appointments. Good policy… If your pet was… say bleeding out…

My dog was an absolute mess when I first started seeing Dr. Melanie Murphy. My dog has numerous problems. The main problem is she is diabetic. She almost lost her eye site. We had surgery to correct her cataracts. She was up every hour on the hour never letting us sleep through the night always wanting to go outside to the bathroom. She was drinking ALL the time. She just looked run down and not good.
Anyways, the old Dr. I used to take her to were ABSOLUTELY NOT proactive with her. They would give me the run around and I just felt like I was spending money every month on tests that were not even working or helping.
I then met Dr. Melanie Murphy! I actually went in the Schaumburg Hospital for a different reason cause Memphis hurt her leg. It was an emergency visit. We started talking through her exam.
She then pretty much changed our lives. Within the last I’d say 6 months she has been working with us really hard to get Memphis’s sugar under control. I finally felt like someone actually cared about us. Memphis is my baby to see her not healthy broke my heart every day.
Each month I noticed improvement in Memphis. Her activity level, her drinking, she’s even now sleeping through the night and not getting up every 5 seconds to pee. Her eyes are stable and doing good. Her sugar level is finally under control. Dr. Murphy helped my family so much. I am completely grateful for her. IF only I met her years ago this all could have been prevented and my poor baby wouldn’t of had to go through half the things she has been through.

I have been taking my dog here since he was pup, so about 3 years when it was originally Park Wise Animal Hospital. My latest experience has left a negative taste in my mouth and has resulted in me finding a new vet.
I scheduled my maltipoo to be microchipped, which I was told was $ 71 at the time of making the appointment. When my husband took him, after they had already chipped him, the receptionist said it was $ 71 and included free registration for one year, afterward it would be $ 17 a year to keep him registered with Home Again.
Once my husband called to tell me this I immediately knew this was a falsity as I had research companies and had already learned of HomeAgain’s deceptive business practices. From my research on micro chipping and talking with other dog moms and dads, I knew that micro-​chipping DOES NOT REQUIRE a yearly fee to ensure your pet is registered.
I called the clinic to confirm that this fee was OPTIONAL and my dog would still be registered, however the unfriendly and rude receptionist told me that if we didn’t pay the annual fee then our dog would NOT be register. I tried to explain to her that I had read information that there should only be a onetime fee. She was extremely unprofessional in her tone and began arguing with me and said she told all this information to my husband. She was very unreasonable to talk to and completely unpleasant. The older front desk personnel, from my previous visits, have always had a very unfriendly demeanor so I really shouldn’t been surprised.
Easily found online via the Home Again website using Google, I immediate found that the $ 17 annual fee was for ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP for additional services to help find your pet if they were to be lost. I clearly found in their FAQ’s «Once registered, microchips remain in the HomeAgain database permanently and may be updated online at no charge anytime by logging into HomeAgain, regardless of annual membership status.»
This experience told me that the staff is not aware of the products they are selling. I wonder how customers are paying this OPTIONAL fee thinking their pets will not be registered if they don’t. It also leads me to wonder what other services they are unknowledgeable in and how can I trust the health and care of my pet to a place that doesn’t even know the details of something as simple as micro-​chipping.
In a separate incident, I found the receptionist/​admin there to be pretty incompetent. We were getting our dog signed up for a dog park and the park district need more information regarding the distemper shot received. All we requested was an email with information regarding the shot. The receptionist could not understand this simple request. My husband had to drive over there in person to explain what we needed when it could’ve easily been emailed.
Nothing positive to say, all we’ve had are negative experience since the microchip incident. If you want to get your pet microchipped, go to Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital. It’s $ 40 and no sneaky annual fee. A bonus is the staff is friendly and responsive.

Dr. Jeff Bloomberg was the first vet we saw when we moved to Chicago almost 8 years ago. We followed his vet care from the city to the burbs. With two medically needy (1 epileptic and 1 that has survived cancer, a hip replacement, and numerous other ailments) and somewhat elderly dogs, we go to the vet more than I care to admit. If I thought I could get better, more personalized care closer to the city, you can be assured that I would do that. But, my hounds still head out to Schaumburg whenever they need to see their doctor.

As an update, my dogs continued to see Dr. Jeff until they had to go to the big field in the sky. I can’t imagine having gone to anyone else for those last two vet visits. We always found Dr. Jeff to be personable, knowledgeable, and willing to work with us on what the best treatments were for our dogs. Much like a mechanic, once you find a vet that you trust and does right by you and your dogs (car), you keep going back.

My dog woke up with a funk in his eyes on Memorial day. We had to find an animal emergency Dr to take Oscar since our regular vet was closed for the holiday. We called a few places and based on the Unilocal reviews we picked this one. They took Oscar right away and the vet examined Oscar and let us know what she was thinking may be the problem. She ran several tests and thoroughly analyzed the health of our dog. She gave us a prescription to treat his eyes and within a day Oscar was as good as new. Care was stellar… however, I will say that all these tests on a holiday were not cheap. I plan on going here instead of my old vet because I really like them, Im just hoping their normal hours care is a little more affordable.

I wanted to love this place.
My main goal for coming to Schaumburg Veterinary was to avoid having to go to Golf Rose. I know Golf Rose gouges prices, is unfriendly, etc.
I did not succeed.
My office visit cost 150% of what Golf Rose charges, and that’s including a $ 15 coupon for new visitors I had. Either they bumped the price up to compensate for the coupon, or that’s the actual price… In both cases, that’s awful.
Dr. Jeff saw my dog and did not perform any of the basic checks — heart, temperature, etc. Questions I had for him were answered unsatisfactorily and he seemed pretty clueless. One specific question I had for him, that he answered completely wrong and scared the **** out of me for unnecessarily, was actually answered in bold letters on a web printout he gave me!
Some of the staff are friendly and funny, others are incompetent. Case in point, I made my appointment the day before our visit for «tomorrow,» the lady confirmed the dates and even hung up saying, «See you tomorrow!» and we arrived to find they scheduled our appointment for the next day.
We had to wait over an hour to be seen due to their mistake (I know, mistakes happen), and I had to call the rest of my work-​day off.
Bottom line, I’d never go back. My visit cost way more than it would have at Golf Rose, and I felt like a royal idiot for driving all the way over here only to have my wallet assaulted. Live and learn! I just hope my fluffy boy gets better.
