Really great resale store. I was looking specifically for records and found lots of classics. I also perused their children’s book section and found a few gems. This specific Wings location has lots of furniture and clothing. Most other resale shops sell records at $ 1. Wings sells their records at 50 cents, which is a really great deal. Children’s books are 59 cents and CDs are $ 1. Very reasonable prices. They have a no return policy. However, when I bought the records, the cashier said I could bring them back if they didn’t work. A few of the records I bought didn’t play and they allowed me to exchange them. There were no hassles or any problems. The cashier was super friendly. I believe her name was Carol. Thank you so much for being so kind and welcoming! With such great and friendly service, I will definitely go back to look at their records and books. Also, I believe proceeds go to victims of domestic violence.

Love the store and staff! Friendly, warm and caring. My dad and I go there once a week and we always find treasures. Very reasonably priced and they always have great sales going on. Love the music too! Thanks Charlie for being so cool.

I happened into the store and there was a tiny little woman(must be the boss) yelling at an employee full steam. She knew I was there. I was embarrassed. It was very awkward. I left immediately and am now too scared to go back. This person needs to be fired. And I told all my friends to avoid this place because she might be there.

As a lifer resale shopper, the only word I can come up with in the moment is «sterile». Not a true digger’s store, where you will actually find some real cool vintage funky designer stuff or unique items. It’s clean, it’s fairly organized, but lacks the character and the promise of what the older original stores had… good stuff at reasonable prices offered to their repeat buyers. Black soiled handbags in July and knockoffs marked as high as what you would pay on clearance in retail locations. There are some basic housewares items if you need items for kids going back to campus and that sort of thing. Things like mis-matched mugs or glasses. Some furniture is offered, more puffy ’80’s-90’s style sectionals, things like that. I did find a set of two framed art prints which I didn’t end up buying, they had those florescent round stickers from a garage sale not their price tags, and I didn’t want to bother trying to explain or negotiate a reasonable price with whatever staff they had there at the time. Parking is a little tricky, not a huge parking space. In general, overpriced items really not worth making an effort for. Maybe they are short on staff to be able to be more efficient and knowledgeable of their pricing, but definitely short on knowing what true repeat resale shoppers will come back for. After reading another reviewer’s comments about a nasty manager, she is absolutely right. Unfortunately whoever made hiring decisions at the management level made a terrible mistake and they have been stuck with unqualified and inexperienced resale people to manage. Customers and employees and even just as importantly volunteers are and have not been treated with the respect they deserve. I was a loyal long-time volunteers there for over 7 years and helped tremendously and was treated like a piece of garbage by someone who was hired off the street with no resale experience. Out of self respect, I among other loyal volunteers left. They are seriously missing the boat over there.

This shop used to be decently priced when it was at its previous location. But since it’s move the prices are outrageous, employees are rude and don’t really care about your business. I don’t go there anymore because I don’t care for the way they treat people. Super high priced for a resale store. It’s really a shame though because I love the cause and would love to support it.

The new store setup is very spacious and flowing. Lots of natural sunlight. I was shocked at the price tags. Ridiculous! Wings in Palatine and Niles have reasonably priced items. Not much of a selection for children’s clothes. Most of the space is taken up by furniture. I walked out with nothing. The old store was more reasonable. I’m just gonna stick to Palatine and Niles. They are more inline with what I can afford and it’s for a good cause.

UPdated July 2015. I think Charlie is making a lot of progress here and I think prices are too high when Kohls is discounting 60−70% merchandise ANOTHER30%. The store looks better and the Men’s area has really improved as has the Men’s bathroom. Thanks! Keep up the good work. UPdated Nov12014. I dislike making this kind of generalization, but this is NOT a men’s shopping store anymore. At the previous location, I would stop by to swing through a large book section, and wind up buying some housewares or dusty electronics. I could rummage through some sports sections, and they had VINYL. Largely gone, tiny book section largely childrens’, smaller housewares and no rummage bins of electronics and hardware stuff you might need. WHERE did all that stuff go? Plus I often WOULD pick up something for my partner there. I didn’t measure the men’s clothing square footage but their bathrooms are similar, if you want towels or hand lotion they are in the women’s bathroom. Clearly, MAYbe unconsciously, they have made a decision who their market is going to be at this new location, and it’s not us guys. Prices seem to have also jumped to the Palatine level, also too high imo, and remember everything here is donated. Parking is problematic as anticipated. It’s a very narrow parking lot, turning around in your oversized SUV or van with another row of cars not so far behind you is tough while people are also trying to pull in and exit from two different directions at the same time. There is another row of parking West where I would expect the employees and volunteers to be parking but it has been largely empty on my multiple visits. So if you are able, park on the West side, and watchout as it’s on an incline so it is going to be slick in the winter. I no longer shop here, there is little for me in there. All that good old rummage electronics and hardware went SOMEWHERE. That’s where I’m going. Good cause. Good luck. — — — — Wings Schaumburg Resale Store has recently moved here at 300 W. Golf, the intersection of Valley Lake Drive, the NW corner. Formerly at 855 W Higgins Road sandwiched between Higgins and Golf, so only a few minutes away. Same phone number and zip. The new store is brighter lighted with much higher ceilings and more open glass in the display area and looks very nice. Parking is a narrow right behind the store with additional parking on the West side of the building. If you are on Roselle you can cut over here on Valley Lake Drive, don’t speed through there though. Looks like a much more visible location and without the road rallying risk of that horrible rude Subaru dealer that would run any Wings customer down as easy prey. So far I miss some of the more dusty rummage aspect of the darker corners of the old larger store, and the size of the book display is greatly reduced. I also miss Eric, Becky and Chris. I’m not seeing much in the way of hardware and electronic bins you can rummage though, so sad. Whoever that guy with the baseball hat is, that also works at the Schaumburg store, deserves a medal managing that move, he’s the energizer bunny. Prices in the past have been cheaper here in Schaumburg than the Palatine store. Wings is a wonderful imperfect Class Act. Support them. Bring something to donate in the back.
