Mark Scott was recommended to me by an estate saleswoman who will not take a home in which any cats have been for the last 4 years. Mark seemed competent and nice, though I was puzzled by his idea that to do an estate(really, moving) sale, he needed to stage my house and bring in dining room furniture. He estimated netting $ 4000. As it turned out, he told me that I’d be getting no money, since the amount he received barely covered his expenses. If he hadn’t done the staging, his expenses would undoubtedly have been lower. With 20 – 20 hindsight, I might have been better off donating all my stuff and taking a charitable deduction. But to be fair, I think he left the place all cleaned up. At least the new owners haven’t complained. At the same time, Mark said he’d send me pictures of the house to show that it was clean, and records of what was sold and for how much. It’s been a month since the moving sale and I’ve received nothing. I’m not saying he was dishonest, but it was not a good experience, and I cannot recommend him as an estate salesperson.
