Specialties
Skov Winery is a small family owned & operated winery set among scenic redwood trees of Scotts Valley, CA. Our family personally selects, harvests & bottles the finest fruit that grows here in the Santa Cruz Mts. We specialize in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but also make other fabulous varietals that are grown here locally.
Skov is the Danish word for «forest» which represents our little winery very well as we are nestled among the redwood trees and our Danish family history.
Our tasting room is currently CLOSED as we are sold out of wine. However, we have a picnic area outside which is available for rent as well as an indoor ‘party room’.
History
Established in 2011.
Annette & David Hunt have been in the wine business for several years where they originally took over Roudon-Smith Winery from the founders. The wine business has been a huge learning experience for them as well as lots of fun as they became part of something that was bigger than they expected. Being part of their communities was something that they never gave much thought, but now they are actively part local service groups such as Lions Clubs, Rotary, Kiwani’s, Exchange Club, not to mention helping out with their local schools and various fundraising organizations.
With wanting something they could call their own, they decided to start their own winery. Skov Winery was developed to tie in Annette’s Danish family history, their love of wine and their location of being nestled among the redwood trees just 3 miles from Highway 17, in Scotts Valley.
Skov Winery is a place where you can feel at home, learn about wine making, relax and enjoy the afternoon.
Meet the Business Owner
Annette H.
Business Owner
Annette was born in Montréal Canada, but her family roots are from a small fisherman’s town in Kerteminde Denmark. Annette spent her summers in Denmark with her grandparents & speaks Danish fluently. When Annette was 3 months old the family moved to sunny California & then moved to Santa Cruz when she was 6 years of age. Having attended all the local schools and have made strong bonds within the community keeps Annette and her family living here.
Annette attended UCDavis studying Dietetics but it was at UCDavis where she found the magic of winemaking. Annette Hunt has been in the wine business for several years, starting with being the owner of Roudon-Smith Winery. Haven taken over an existing business gave us the opportunity to get into the wines business, one that was already established, to see how we really enjoyed it. Needless to say, Annette enjoyed the wines business enough to start her own label and start a whole new business from scratch.
