Booked this hotel for the Super Bowl and had to pay in advance. Received a communication about a month prior that the hotel lobby would be under construction during my stay. Upon arrival the entire front entrance was closed off and hotel registration was redirected to the side of the hotel. This in itself was not a big deal, however the entire hotel seems to be under renovation, which is quite different. The hotel restaurant is relocated to a conference room, so the meal vouchers they gave as a gesture of good will for construction does not give the same resort feel I would have like to have had. Also I paid for a room with a view. Scotts Valley is on the ocean side of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Because of the construction my view has containers, garbage, and building materials in a closed off parking lot. This is quite disappointing. Upon checking in the staff was friendly, however I had to return to the table top set up three times to get my keys to work. After a long drive, this was very frustrating. The third day upon returning to my room, my key did not work again. Apparently my reservation had been accidentally split into two and they had checked me out? Again frustrating. The room was average, perhaps they are overhauling the entire hotel. I would not recommend staying here during the construction. The location is convenient to San Jose and Santa Cruz and Highway 1.
