Founded in 1991, Tutoring Club has helped tens of thousands of students nationwide achieve their academic goals. Our mission today remains the same as when we first opened our doors: to meet the needs of every child with whom we work. Because we understand that each academic journey is unique, personal connection is essential to our individualized approach. We create a positive, welcoming environment where we get to know each child not only as a student, but as a person. We then define a customized game plan to master subject matter and cultivate study skills. As educators and mentors, we make real investments in the longterm academic success of our students, creating independent, confident, self-​motivated learners for life.

History

Established in 2004.

The Tutoring Club of Scotts Valley mentors grades K – 14 students. Over the wonder-​years that we’ve had «The Club,» as our students call it, we’ve had the honor to help ~1000 students throughout Santa Cruz county. Our students attend Scotts Valley, San Lorenzo Valley, Santa Cruz, PCS, Baymonte, Bellarmine, Mitty, Notre Dame, Monte Vista, Saint Francis, Los Gatos and many others. Students of all ages seek tutoring in most subjects from beginning, pre-​K reading to AP/​IB Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. SAT/​ACT college entrance exam preparation, and a rigorous 32 hour study skills program, complement our offerings as we endeavor to be an educational «one-​stop-​shop» from pre-​school through adult education. Our students go to UC’s, MIT, SCU, SJSU, Stanford, UOP, SLO, Cabrillo Honors,…

Meet the Business Owner

Randy and Pat K.

Business Owner

A Graduate electrical engineer from CSULB, Randy worked as a process engineer, technical advisor and product manager in the photonics and laser industry for 30+ years. He supplemented his undergraduate work with extension courses in science and engineering as well as business and law at CAL, SCU and Lincoln University School of Law. Teaching was always a dream; so he began tutoring while pursuing a teaching credential. Tutoring became so exciting that he evolved from solely tutoring to co-​owning the Tutoring Club. Randy also teaches high school science/​math/​english/​history classes. Helping students to love to learn is his greatest reward.

Pat and Randy moved from semiconductor laser mfg. to co-​owners/​directors of the Tutoring Club of Scotts Valley. Our extensive community involvement includes The Rotary Club, the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation, contributor to the Scotts Valley Library and to numerous fundraisers and publications within our schools.
