Aikido of Scottsdale (AoS), also known as Aikido Family Martial Arts Center, offers traditional Aikido training for adults and children age 6 and up. The chief instructor is Glenn Brooks, Shidoin 6th degree black belt. Aikido of Scottsdale is a member of the United States Aikido Federation under the direction and support of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, 8th Dan.

Glenn Brooks sensei is a 6th degree black belt. He began his aikido training in 1980 under the direct instruction of Akira Tohei Sensei, 8th degree black belt and direct desciple of aikido founder.

I’ve been attending Aikido classes here for the last 3.5 years. My entire family is active here actually and we have an incredible amount of fun.
Aikido means roughly «the way of spirit and harmony.» It is one of the newest Japanese martial arts and it’s my favorite way to stay fit.
The thing about Aikido that most appeals to me it’s about defending yourself without destroying your opponent. Optimally a skilled Aikidoist should be able to completely defend himself from any attack without harming the attacker at all.
It may sound kind of hippy-​dippy or spiritual, but watch one class and you’ll see that it’s deadly serious and extremely effective.
Glenn Brooks Sensei, a 5th degree-​black belt and our teacher, has been teaching Aikido for 11 years now. We have a beautiful dojo in North Scottsdale just south of the airport. Our classes average between 8 and 20 people and we have an incredible amount of fun.
Classes are Tues, Thurs from 6:30 to 8PM and Sat and Sun from 10 to 11:30AM. There are also kids classes (from age 7) on Sat (9 to 10AM) and Tues (5:30 — 6:30PM).
