Specialties

Don Carson grew up in the Chicago area. His family was in the restaurant business. He grew up sampling many different kinds of food. The menu at Don & Charlie’s is a reflection of his Midwestern roots. Don moved to Scottsdale in 1981 and it was important to him that the midwest style of cuisine be represented in Arizona.

Since 1981 Don & Charlie’s has been proud to serve prime steaks, fresh seafood, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, prime rib and many other Chicago specialties like shrimp de Jonghe and skirt steak. Service is a very important component of Don & Charlie’s. Don and his staff deliver professional and friendly service in relaxed surroundings. After 25 years making our guests happy is still our goal.

History

Established in 1981.

Don & Charlie’s has been offering Championship Dining since 1981, specializing in BBQ baby back ribs, prime steaks, prime rib, chicken, and fresh fish. The restaurant décor is a virtual shrine to sports memorabilia, signed magazine covers and authographed baseballs.

But the food is the real star. Don & Charlie’s offers a variety of menu items served in a casual, freindly setting with an experienced staff who will assist you with every detail.

Meet the Manager

Don C.

Manager

I was raised in Rogers Park, which is located on the North Side of Chicago. I grew up, as did my partner, in a restaurant family. We dined out three to four days a week. I still remember as a young boy — weather permitting — walking with my family to two North Side restaurant landmarks: Sally’s and Miller’s Steak House. Both were famous for prime steaks, ribs and chicken. It was impossible to eat at either one and not see someone you knew. Both restaurants had a loyal staff that had been with them for many years, so the service was friendly, professional and caring.

In 1959 our family moved with Arizona and I discovered Spring Training. I was in baseball heaven watching Ted Williams, Willie Mays and the rest of the players get ready for opening day. Spring Training is still the best.

The staff and I welcome you to Don & Charlie’s for dinner. This is all we do, so nothing but the best is ever acceptable.
