JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa

Two nights and two spa packages made for an incredible two day break. The staff is amazing and seemed to know exactly what your need before you do. We had a lovely dinner at Rita’s Kitchen one night and a birthday dinner at BLT the next night. The food at BLT was out of this world.
Even in the midst of the intense AZ heat, the landscaping is stunning and the room was very clean and the bed was amazing. The Spa is the best!

Yes the «staff» reached out to me. Never an apology or an explanation. Just able to post that they reached «OUT» to me. Makes my bank account feel all warm and fuzzy! Enjoy your scam. I mean stay!

Longing to luxuriate and treat my husband after weeks of travel and not actually hop yet another plane (or into an automobile) to do so, I decided to book us at The JW Marriott Camelback Inn for a weekend that did not disappoint. I am always amazed at how many beautiful resorts are right here in our own backyard and yet it feels like a world away when you check in! This resort is amazing from check in to check out, the staff here takes no short cuts and makes sure all is on point. Checking in was a breeze; the lobby decorated in southwest style and muted cool tones gave way to the desert heat outside with the darkness. No need to pay for valet parking, as the casitas are all drive able and you can park in front of them. You are offered help with any bags, if need be, and a map of this expansive property and it’s amenities. We were upgraded to a bi-​level casita and had a beautiful view from both the lower balcony and upper balcony of the mountains surrounding the resort. Perfect for the champagne I had brought and a charcuterie plate on the balcony! This was a surprise for my new husband, after all, as I literally collected him as he landed and said, ‘I have a treat for you !’ Speaking of champagne though, the bell staff promptly catered to that need for a champagne bucket filled with ice and two flutes! If you don’t bring your own, they will gladly bring you a bottle! Ha! Our casita had a tiny tile broken on the corner, well maintenance did not like that and gave us a $ 50 credit ! I mean, it didn’t even bother us! That’s what I mean about the service here: superb! You could easily spend a week here in this casita and never leave the property. We had a small kitchenette with a small refrigerator; small sink; a Keurig coffee maker with plenty of coffee and tea pods that were replenished each morning by the cleaning staff; and a microwave. There are no dishes, but we had no issues asking and promptly receiving whatever we requested with a smile within mere minutes from the bell staff. including real cream! (I personally loathe powered creamer!) The bedroom upstairs overlooked the beautifully southwestern decorated and designed living room and the bathroom upstairs was expansive with a separate water closet; dual sinks; jetted soaking tub and separate large shower with a massive soaking shower head. It’s those things that make the JW Marriott special and keep us loyal to the brand. The bathroom downstairs was also a nice touch. I am telling you. this is a perfect vacation spot, or a staycay or girl weekend, even! There are great restaurants on property although bring your pocketbook as they go with the brand of JW $$$! We truly loved BLT and Rita’s both, with BLT being our favorite for a superb dining experience and a meat lovers dream. The happy hour at the R Bar is superb and has live music! We truly loved this nightly! Starbucks is also on property! There are several places to take a glass of wine and just sit and enjoy the beauty of the desert evening amongst the property along the waterfilled areas with the expansive couches along the cacti and desert flora filled paths. The one thing that I could say needs a bit of an upgrade is the pool; there are only three cabanas not really on the water and the main pool is rather small. There are several pergolas in the shade but you MUST be there early to secure them. The service for drinks and food is also a little lacking and not much by way of food is offered. Our pool guy had to be prompted to take our used glasses away when he brought new beer and drinks, also. Two restrooms service the entire area and are a bit of a walk if you aren’t in a cabana. All in all, I love this resort and can’t wait to come
back! Next time I’ll be sure to visit the spa with the amazing views of Mummy Mountain!

Ok, I’m completely in awe of how great the customer service was at the JW Marriott. I stay at Marriott’s all the time and when making reservations, I can click the «extra towel» and «feather free» room option until I’m blue in the face and they never do it. Not, the JW Scottsdale – they took care of those requests and then some. My room was ready early. Check-​in was easy. The bell attendants were sweet. The room was spotless – actually impeccable. The restaurants were fantastic. The spa was spectacular. The setting was tranquil. They literally went above and beyond in every sense. I can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful, storied property, that Jimmy Stewart used to frequent. Kind of a jewel in the crown for the Marriott family (which still owns this place directly, I believe). But it’s not only the famous folks of the past, but also the gracious staff of the present, that make the place a gem. For example, there’s Tayler at the spa, who adds spiritedness, professionalism, and kindness in considerable dosages. She greets you, and then she rises above what you could reasonably expect anyone to do. I had made an inquiry. And she said she would look into it. I told her she didn’t have to; it was really a question I should resolve on my own. She said that it was okay; she’d look into it. Have you ever done that? Where you think… «that was a request that’s really my responsibility, and I wouldn’t blame the person if they didn’t actually follow up… it’s not their job.» That’s what I was thinking. And then I got a call. She’d not only gotten the information, but gone ahead and solved the problem that wasn’t even hers to solve! And she did it with a gladness and graciousness that made it seem like this is what she does all the time. And I’m sure it is. Thanks, Tayler.

Wow, this is going down for me. It’s been a while since we’ve stayed and I’m not overly impressed. My husband got us an awesome employee rate and we figured we’d do a long weekend.
The Pros:
–This place is GORGEOUS. The scenery, the landscaping, and the grounds are overwhelmingly beautiful.
–Large heated pool open 24 hours with an area for lap swimming.
–Excellent service from everyone we’ve come across, from front desk, to concierge, to valet, etc.
–Nice casita style rooms.
–Spa and restaurants on premise (haven’t used any of these)
The Cons:
–The bathroom! Too small!!! Not nearly enough counter space. Every woman can probably appreciate this request, but there should be a bench in the shower for shaving, and more surface space in the shower for your shampoo, toiletries, etc. If that’s not possible, I’d rather have a tub! I’d also like a better vanity and area for doing my makeup.
–The parking. We were in room 261 and got back in on Thursday night around 8pm. The place was PACKED and we couldn’t get a spot anywhere near our room! Being 6 months pregnant, carrying a toddler and some other items from the car, I didn’t appreciate having to walk so far to my room. I think each room should have at least one spot nearby assigned to it.
–The landing of the stairway down to our room covered in bird poop. Hey, we’re powerless over where birds shit, but hose it down once in a while?
–Room was not serviced. We left from 6 to 9 and again from 11 to 3. She didn’t come until 3:30pm, when my toddler was napping.
We got an excellent rate, for which I’m so grateful, but I expect more convenience and luxury from a hotel of this caliber. I do appreciate all of the wonderful service we’ve received here, and I love the beautiful location. But I probably won’t return.

A small group of friends and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend for my bachelorette party — just a simple weekend of a nice hotel room, a nice dinner, and hanging out by the pool (we’re not party animals by any means). The room was very comfortable; wonderful beds, big bathroom with a tall shower, double sinks, and a small kitchenette. The property itself is hard to navigate, and even though they give you a map and you can ask a golf-​cart guy to drive you to your room, they could use some better signage to help you find your way.
However, for the price we paid for the room, I think we could have had more privacy. We booked through the Marriott website, but still ended up with a room obviously meant for the discount website reservations. Both a large floor to ceiling window and the sliding door opened directly to a main pathway, and we had to constantly keep the curtains closed because people were looking at us, into our room and pointing, and multiple kids banged on our windows. We could tell we were also the only room booked in our building that weekend, which has to tell you something about the quality of the rooms. We had to call twice for extra towels, as well. I strongly feel that because they knew we were celebrating a bachelorette, we were stereotyped into «trashy party animal» girls and were not taken seriously.
The pool area is great, but on a crowded holiday weekend it was packed. Again, for the quality and price of the hotel the pool area could be larger. The adult pool is just a glorified hot tub, with no room for more than five people. The poolside food and beverages are well priced and the service is prompt at friendly. We were even able to get a pool employee to find a spare umbrella (a rare find) and move it to us. My brother had booked us a cabana as a surprise gift, but due to the high level of guests over the weekend there was some confusion and they «lost» the reservation. He received a refund, but I expect more from a resort of this stature.
All in all it was a great hotel and a great weekend, but having stayed at many of the high-​end resorts in the area there are others I’d go to before returning to this one (at least on my own dime).

This is our first visit to this resort. We checked in yesterday and I can say that the resort grounds and surrounding scenery are beautiful. The room is very nice, with the exception of one troubling issue. There is mold growing on the bathroom ceiling. I don’t understand how this can happen at an establishment of this class?
We went down to the front desk this morning and discussed it with the gentleman on duty. I was a little taken back when he didn’t appear too shocked about this issue. I will say that he offered to have us change rooms, but due to our schedule we don’t have the 2 – 3 hours to make that move until Wednesday. He told us that he would inform housekeeping to check on the mold.
We shouldn’t be put in this position at any lodging establishment, especially a J.W. Marriott.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay there. When we first got there, our room was not ready, so we had to wait roughly 2 hours. It was tough since we had been up since about 4 a.m. Eastern time, so we were ready to fall over. But we sat on the patio area and enjoyed the beautiful day (while I fell asleep on the outdoor sofa). Not even 10 minutes after we got to our room, we got a phone call to upgrade our room. We were hesitant at first because we were so tired, but when they told us that it was the presidential suite, and it was the same price, we were up and out in 5 minutes. We even had our own pool (but we still used the resort’s pool). We got massages one day that were fantastic, and if we had any problems with the room, someone was there in 5 minutes to help. Dinner was great at the BLT Steakhouse on our second night there. We had such a nice and relaxing time at the JW Marriott. The entertainment in the evening was great as well. If you are looking for a more adult-​oriented stay, stay here (as opposed to the JW Marriott in Phoenix, which is a little bit more kid-​centered). I’m not saying that it isn’t kid friendly, because it is, but it is just a little more mild than the JW Marriott in Phoenix (which we stayed at on our way back from Sedona for one night). Also the fire pits at night are lovely.

Three nights for spring training. Location is convenient for all of the local stadiums. Purchased the spa package which includes the best buffet breakfast we’ve seen in years at Rita’s. Chef Ricketts does a killer daily buffet. Room was huge with patio that overlooked the mountain and the pool. Place is laid out as groups of 2 – 6 rooms together — a nice village like atmosphere. Landscape was in full bloom and there were breathtaking views everywhere. Spa services are typical with great staff, full steam and sauna, hold tub and cold dip tub and regular outdoor pool. Spa services are 60 min as part of the package (web site says 50). Trails close by for power walk, scramble up Camelback or wide path altitude climbs.
BLT was a great place for dinner (both indoor and outdoor dining) — see separate review.

We decided to revisit for another staycation, this time for a longer time and to celebrate our 27^th Wedding Anniversary. We had a couple bumps in the road with our reservation, but that was quickly fixed by Kayla Haley, Thank you again.
Our room was even better than the past visits. As usual, very clean, seemed updated, just a wonderful experience. We took advantage of the Spa Pool (adults only) and had a wonder lunch: Thai Steak Salad. We also had room service of a wonderful cheese, cookie, and Sangria platter.
Hotel grounds beautiful, rooms perfect, service excellent, thank you for making our Anniversary celebration memorable.

The rooms were great and tidy. They had a nice selection of complimentary soaps, body wash, and shampoo… For men lol. Well it’s a good thing I packed stuff for me otherwise I would’ve smelled like a man. They have a lazy river and tube side booze service which was awesome.
The spa was nice and relaxing. The hot tub jets were comfortable. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because the lady who did my pedicure was not adequate to say the least. The lines on my French pedi were crooked and I had to deal with that until my next one.
Other than that great place, friendly staff, and relaxing atmosphere.

JW Marriott Camelback Inn was an amazing resort. Truly loved the rooms, landscaping, food and amenities. It’s in such a beautiful location and views of all the rocky hills locally. Once your in the resort it like stepping out of the busy world and having a very calm soothing environment.

Pros: Beautiful grounds, extremely friendly staff, good restaurants (although pricey)
Cons: Rooms are a bit dated, spa manicure wasn’t that great, property was very spread out so things are a bit of a trek.
I was here for a work conference and was super excited to stay at the JW Marriott as I’ve stayed at a few and know they are typically top notch! For the most part, this location was on point. I had never been to Scottsdale, so the JW totally met my expectations when it came to ambiance and scenery. Absolutely beautiful.
After my first night, I called down to the front office to tell them about a cricket problem in my room, which was taken care of within 10 minutes. Plus, the manager comped my first night stay. So she definitely went above and beyond to make sure I was a happy guest.
The restaurants on site were pretty good too. I ate at Rita’s Kitchen for breakfast a couple of times, and it was quite satisfying. Since the weather wasn’t too hot, we sat outside which was nice. I do feel like the price points for breakfast dishes were pretty high though… but then again I was staying at a JW Marriott, so I guess I should have expected that.
The rooms were nice and clean, bathrooms seem to have been updated in the last 3 – 5 years. However, the rooms in general seemed outdated and could use some sprucing up… especially when you’re paying over $ 300 a night (even with their group rate.)
I also booked a manicure at their spa, and wasn’t totally impressed. My nail tech was very nice, but she left a lot of nail polish on my skin, and then it started chipping less than 24 hours later (and I promise its not like I was doing much to make that happen on my own.) Plus, manicure appointments are only 30 minutes. I felt super rushed too… $ 30 + tip for 30 minutes, definitely don’t think it was worth it.
I mentioned how spread out the property was… and I know there’s nothing they can do to change this. But I’d suggest requesting a room that’s centrally located. They do have guys on golf carts that can drive you to and from different locations on the property… but who wants to wait around and deal with that?
All in all, I did have a good experience at the JW Marriott Camelback. I’d recommend it for a company event or conference for sure.

A very nice resort with beautiful grounds and nice views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the gym and amenities are fine. The pool area stands out given it’s large and has a nice vibe and view.
I was there for a conference and hope I can return here again.

I love this resort! I have been here on business & for family vacations as well and have never been disappointed. The staff is kind, organized, & accommodating! The rooms have always been clean, nice, & no matter where you are there is a lovely view. I will definitely return time & time again.

I have never stayed at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn, but I have enjoyed meals and happy hour there. So my 5 stars are not for the rooms, but for the beauty of this «mountain retreat». Just grabbing a Starbucks there is special, because of the beautiful outdoor patio area, just outside the coffee shop. The ambiance of an after dark drink, on the large patio, can not be beat. The landscaping crew keeps the grounds impeccable, truly amazing!

This is my ultimate favorite spa, it has every amenity spa goers love all in one building. I visited this past weekend (prob about my 6^th time here) and went to gym, sat in hot tub, enjoyed the steam room, had a fabulous facial, soaked up the heat from the sauna and then had the drink of the day a Pomosa by the beautiful spa pool while viewing Camelback Mountain and enjoyed a great lunch. All this for less than other spas in the area.
The staff is caring, down to earth and very welcoming. The skin care shop is extremely reasonably priced and has great selection.
It seriously does not get any better than this! Best spa ever, I can’t wait to go back again!

5 star resort without the pretentiousness! It’s so warm and inviting here you won’t want to leave. The Spa is amazing. Micheal R is the best for massages. He truly makes your pain melt away. I have never had a better massage than here. Staff at SPA is top notch from the gym to the pool.
Rita’s food is great for breakfast. Don’t miss world famous crunchy French toast. Servers are top notch. They have been here for years and years with GiGi being my favorite but they are all great. You won’t want for anything. I have come here 19 years in a row twice a year. Need I say more. Shout out to the bell staff. They are always helpful and they too have worked on property for years. They never disappoint. Offer water is your hiking or a ride if your walking around the resort. Great guys.

Unbelievable! I am forever looking for a quiet hotel for rest, relaxation, good food and a pleasant stay; this is the place. I stayed in a beautiful private condo that was fabulous! Very clean, quiet, comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff was very professional and accommodating. This hotel has a lot to offer for everyone, whether you are there to relax or participate in meetings or conferences. I highly recommend this hotel. Enjoy!

This resort is ridiculously big. Like literally, I had to be escorted in golf carts otherwise it would be a 20 min walk everywhere! If you’re hosting an event the service is top notch. My room was great, I loved the Native American and Spanish influences in the décor. Beds are so comfy you don’t want to get up. I had to schedule a wake up to make sure I didn’t oversleep!
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the banquet food was! The salads with chicken/​steak and the Spanish tortilla station were both delicious. I got in late on a Monday night and ordered the shrimp enchiladas which were to die for! I’d come back just for the food. Beautiful views of Camelback Mountain, would definitely return.

Beautiful resort, very spread out, making things quiet and peaceful. Constantly saw rabbits and quail around grounds. Entire resort walkable, but a touch far if you are an outside building, and the pathways meander and can be confusing even after a couple of days. Not to worry, just take your time and enjoy your surroundings.
Even the basic rooms (casitas) are quite a comfortable size, and well laid out with private outside seating area, nice bath with walk in shower, fridge, microwave, charge port and plug in station to easily displaying your device on the tv. Very easy to make the room dark and cold. One of the very few negatives was the bed being a touch worn and saggy and the pillows poor. Upgrade the beds and this place has it rocking.
Staff consistently friendly and accommodating. First room we were given was right beside a casita with a private pool and kids. Not so much an R&R setting, but they quickly moved us to a quiet more appropriate location. Local soda/​water machine broken; when I called to mention they happily ran some water bottles by the room.
Drank and ate at a number of the places on the property and were happy with every experience.

The property is vintage/​classy and yet casual — a beautiful historic property with restored casitas and modern amenities. But what is even more impressive is the service — very attentive and yet not intrusive. And they go out of there way to take care of you. 2 examples — my original room did not quite meet our expectations in terms of location, so they immediately made it right and switched us to a great room. Secondly — my daughter left her wireless Apple I-​Pad keyboard when we checked out — they immediately found it, packed it up and sent it back to us and then followed up to confirm it was on the way — that’s going over and above! Great vacation spot and we will be back!
2 Hints — check out the bikes from the hotel and ride to Camelback mountain — then hike to the top! Great workout and spectacular view from the top — allow at least 3 – 4 hrs in total for the excursion — a bit exhausting, but totally worth it! Also, check out Happy Hour out on the back patio — fire pits, great appetizers/​drinks at reasonable prices and live music from 6 – 10 — really nice setting and kid friendly!

My wife joined me on a business trip to a professional conference. I wish we could have come earlier to really enjoy the surroundings and the hiking. The staff was overly friendly and always willing to assist in any way. We were provided an upgrade room based on my elite status and it was phenomenal. I strongly recommend getting one of the suites.
The pool was very nice. They provide floats on a first come, first serve basis. An attentive wait staff comes around often to get any food or drink requests. There is an adult pool located adjacent to the family pool. It is quite tranquil and relaxing.
The fitness center is well equipped with treadmills, free weights, ellipticals, cycles, and some machines. Open ²⁴⁄₇ which makes it convenient. Of course, there’s plenty of places to jog or climb outside.
The staff has golf carts to take you anywhere on the premises. Scenery is great. Food and beverages were excellent. Can’t wait to return.

I love my husband! He surprised me with a trip here once our daughter settled in at college. He remembered me waxing poetic about when I coordinated a conference at this lovely resort back in the early 1990’s. It was lovely then and it is still lovely!
It’s classy, yet comfortable. For the perfect vacation, here’s what we did… well he did:
Book a casita or suite (trust me on this, you will feel like royalty)
Go to the spa… lots
Order room service with champage
Eat in the acclaimed restaurant… lots
Play 18 holes
Walk their beautiful crowds and marvel in the native landscaping
Relax in your private pool and the main Jack Rabbit pool too
Go home rejuvenated!

As a Marriott Platinum Elite Member just one word comes to mind for this fabulous JW property in Scottsdale, AZ … Bravo! Business brought me back here for my second visit and stay at the Camelback Inn Resort and Spa. I stayed in an absolutely lovely room that was short and convenient walk from the pool, restaurant and lobby area. On the 2^nd floor, my room came with a lovely view of the property and surrounding mountains and included an extra large private balcony I had all to myself. My colleague and I enjoyed dinner and drinks at the R Bar which had a nice professional work crowd and live music. Breakfast at Rita’s Kitchen each morning was superb and the hotel also had a BLT Steakhouse which I unfortunately missed but will definitely get to next time. Service was impeccable and extremely attentive by everyone and as a guest, I felt my business was valued and appreciated. Thank you JW Marriott for such stellar customer service and maintaining such high standards at this lovely resort.

My girls and I selected the Camelback Inn Resort and Spa for our 8^th annual weekend trip. We met in business school, are in our mid-​to-​late thirties, reside on both coasts (San Diego, LA, SF, Baltimore and NY) and are in varying degrees of marital bliss (some married, some engaged and others single). Most of us of price agnostic, but we do have one sensitive person to be mindful for. That being said…
Let me tell you what we loved:
1. Superb service from: the guys driving the golf courts (they handed out free bottles of chilled water while they drove us from check-​in to the spa and around the compound); the guys who came in to spray our rooms from bugs with the vanilla scented spray (when you leave the door open to bring in bags, bugs will come in to the cooler space); the responsiveness of the staff to picking up trash outside our rooms (not ever guest seems to know how to pick up after themselves); the complimentary sangria waiting for us in the room; and the follow up /​confirmation that our needs were met.
2. An amazing and affordable spa package, including breakfast (I’m plant based /​vegan and I had a couple of good and tasty breakfast and lunch options from Sprouts).
3. Great spa services with a beautiful venue. The treatments: Each of us had a positive experience with our 2 spa treatments. I was especially pleased with the deep tissue massage and natural toning agave wrap. I felt pampered, relaxed and rejuvenated. Was it the treatments, the facilities, the homemade tea, the fruit infused water, the herb satchel (which I still have in my travel bag) or the soothing ambiance from the quiet room that helped in my transition to a peaceful state. Probably all of the above.
4. Although we didn’t use the bikes or walk up Camelback, we loved the idea and would use on a return trip.
5. Printed individual spa treatment itineraries for each of the ladies provided at check-​in. I also appreciated the pre-​reach out coordination. I spoke to someone on the phone when we first started planning who helped guide me to the packages and helped me figure out how to make it work for 5 people.
And lastly…
6. Comfortable rooms with adjoining doors, great showers with good water pressure, and the appropriate amount of turn down service (i.e. soft welcome home lighting and sound coupled with the «enjoy your sleep in this comfy bed» feel).
And here are a couple of things that could be improved:
1. More plant based /​vegan options at the anchor restaurants (BLT and Rita’s Kitchen). Sprouts (the restaurant associated with the spa) really nailed it.
2. Cooler weather in August?
I am confident that this place will continue to receive praise for all of their guests. They showcased excellent customer service. They even managed such high praise in the midst of renovations. Kudos to minimal disruptions during renovations and the continued pursuit of excellent facilities.

Lovely lovely hotel in Paradise Valley. The views in this area of Camelback is spectacular! Once you drive into the resort, it looks and feel like you’re in a desert oasis. The units are very spread out so it might be difficult to locate where you’re staying but the whole area is nice! Cactus and well landscaped surroundings makes it picturesque with Camelback in the background.
The rooms were a good size. We got two regular rooms and they were very cute! It was like a romantic lodge with the tall ceilings and wood beams! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. There is a bathroom with sink and another sink on the outside which made it nice! Would definitely recommend this place and come back!

I’ve stayed here three times in the past year. When you enter the property the sign says «In all the world only one.» This is so true. This is my favorite place in the world. You become immersed in the desert here, become part of it. It is breathtakingly gorgeous everywhere you turn. Each room has its own, special view. This last time around I stayed in room 616, which had an incredible full view of Camelback Mountain, and the view extended all the way over to downtown Phoenix. I just sat and stared in the evening at the beauty, in the relaxing summer heat that comes late at night. Quiet, calm and serene. My heart rate literally slows down when I’m here, it puts me at peace.
With so many places to stay in this town, what keeps me coming back? The staff are amazing in every way – best staff of any hotel I’ve stayed in. Everyone smiles and says hi. Though if you’re shy, or a snob who thinks staff should be seen and not heard, you might not like this. They are all genuinely concerned whether or not you’re enjoying your stay. The grounds are impeccably manicured with native desert landscaping. It’s really like «camping» in the middle of the desert, but you’re in a luxury hotel room. The beds are as good as they get. And the bathrooms are all updated and HUGE and feature walk in showers. The rooms are very large as well.
The food is amazing. Room service breakfast is so so good. I switch between the eggs Benedict (best ever anywhere) and the «all American breakfast.» I’ve also had room service dinners – everything is good. I’ve eaten at BLT on site several times, and for the most part it is good, though if I wasn’t staying at the hotel and paying with resort credits I would probably not dine there. It’s just not quite good enough to justify the expense.
My only complaint is that the pool leaves something to be desired. Pools are such a big draw at PHX resorts, and the pool here is just «meh.» It’s design is dated, and there is no adult pool (unless you pay $ 30 extra to use the spa pool). Kids are annoying if you’re trying to relax. The spa is great, but the spa at the Hyatt a few miles away knocks the spa here out of the water and is far better.
Despite there being better resort pools in the Valley, the other great things about this resort make up for it. This is always my first choice. When I switch things up my second choice is the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. They are both premier hotels, but not pretentious. That’s important to me. I like luxury but when on vacation I don’t want to feel like I need to dress up for anything, and do not like dealing with staff who have noses in air. It’s like going home here and being among friends. Over the entrance to the lobby is a sign that says «Where time stands still,» if only this could be true when I stay here.

Where do I begin? I’m not even sure… Ok. Yes, let’s start with everything. I liked everything about this resort. Some things I loved. But I like everything about this place.
I’m local and I love a staycation. I’ve visited Camelback Inn to dine at BLT and to have spa treatments. But I had not stayed until recently. This place embodies desert beauty. The grounds are beautiful and I loved waking up and walking out on my patio and watch the bunnies hop along. I love the fact that no building in the area is talker than a couple stories. Every room has beautiful views of the mountains, even from the 1^st floor Casitas.
The standard Casitas are very spacious. There are generally no more than 4 Casitas per structure. Someone complained that the kitchenette is tucked in a small space on the side of the room. I personally loved that! My guest for the weekend didn’t even notice the kitchenette until the moments before we checked out. My guest walked past that space (nice size fridge, counter space, microwave, sink) all weekend and didn’t notice it. We thought that was funny. The bathrooms have dual sinks and one is in the dressing room. Loved it!
The Jackrabbit pool area is nice and fun for kids with a splash pad. The pool is 3.5′ deep at its deepest. No zero depth entry though (thinking of really small kids). There is a splash pad. BTW: the pools are chilled in the summer and heated in the winter.
The day spa and amenities are nice. I wrote a review of this business on Unilocal too.
The best part of my experience was certainly the staff. 5 star service from the moment I walked in the door! Unbelievably great service. I can’t say enough how they made my «Zen-​ful staycation» one of my best resort stays ever.
I don’t see this as a kid friendly resort though and there were not a ton of kids running around either. I hate to say that about this resort. The entertainment is very adult. The vast majority of guests were adults. The best amenities are for adults (spa, bar, blt). I would say kid-​friendly, yes. Kid-​recommended, not by me.

Next starvation will be Desert Ridge, but I’ll be back… (If you made it this far In the review, I am going to leave the auto-​correction there, I cracked up when I saw it after I posted the review. Autocorrection strikes again!)

Still one of my favorite spots that keeps me coming back. Are there other resorts around? Sure. But I love the old school charm you get here coupled with un parallel service. It’s like stepping back in time when you stay in one of the «casitas». Nothing better than breakfast out on my private patio each morning overlooking Camelback mountain.
And I love that the staff go out of their way to learn my name and say hi to me throughout my entire visit. Nice touch!
You can bet I will be back again as they earn my business every time!

Awesome resort that has been in Paradise Valley since 1936. I have been coming here ever since I was a kid. Gone through some changes and still a beautiful resort. One of the best views in my opinion in the area. Great service food easy parking And a fantastic brunch.

A must see! Very unique setting and Resort. Extremely nice staff. My husband lost his phone after having lunch at Rita’s and I called from the Trolley. The staff went searching right away and found it outside under a bench. We were relieved to say the least and could enjoy the rest of our stay.
The pool is beautiful, and bikes on the property to rent. Just can’t say enough!!!

Auch dieses Jahr sind wir wieder zur Klassenfahrt, äh zur Vertriebskonferenz hier. Wie in den Vorjahren ist die Anlage prima geeignet um solch eine Veranstaltung mit Dutzenden Teilnehmern aus der ganzen Welt durch zu führen. Die WLAN-​Abdeckung wurde verbessert und es gibt weiterhin bekannte Gesichter beim Personal, was, wie ich finde, ein gutes Zeichen ist.

For a resort in the middle of the desert this one makes you feel right at home. It really is a large resort that sprawls over a large area. On the grounds there is a day spa, restaurant, courtyard areas, pool, and a bar. I did not stay there overnight, just went to meet my brother, who was visiting. We had some food in restaurant and had a couple drinks. We even wondered to this little town in the back of the property that looked like a ghost town. Most likely used for holding company events and things like this.
