History

Established in 2003.

Casino Arizona at Indian Bend opened its doors with blackjack poker, off-​track betting, Keno and a sports bar. Over the years the location or «the tents» as they were affectionately called, due to the two sprung structures that housed the casino, expanded with two lounges, the Blue Coyote Grill & Sports Bar and the Wandering Horse Café. The property also became home to the largest poker room in Arizona with 46 tables and its own sports show titled, «We’ve Got Your Game.» In April 2010, however, Casino Arizona at Indian Bend expanded even more when it transformed into Talking Stick Resort, following years of construction. The 15-​story hotel and casino, Talking Stick Resort, features 497 rooms, five restaurants, five lounges and a massive conference center.

Casino Arizona at Salt River is a business enterprise of the Salt River Pima-​Maricopa Indian Community (SRP-​MIC). It is independently owned and operated by SRP-​MIC, who looks at the property as a long term investment in its Community’s economic growth. The SRP-​MIC is comprised of two tribes, the Pima or O’odham and the Maricopa or Piipash. It has an enrolled population of more than 9,000 and its reservation consists of nearly 5,600 acres, bounded by the cities of Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Fountain Hills.

My boyfriend and I stayed at talking stick last weekend. This resort was great! Great food and great entertainment. The coyote café has amazing breakfast. On sat and Sunday’s they have a release party for Dj’s and the pool

While it is flashy and has slots and table games my friends and I thought it was small. We are used to TAMPA and Kansas City as comparing it to Vegas wouldn’t be fair. The bj on a Thurs nt was $ 5 and $ 10 tables. It wasn’t too crowded, but popular machines stayed busy. They charge for all drinks including bottled water. The bar area in the casino had a fun band and ppl were dancing. The ppl watching was great. Enjoy!

I love to gamble and I love to gamble at talking stick. I swear their machines tend to be a little bit «nicer» than the other casinos. Of course that is just anecdotal but the place as a whole is world class.
They must have over 1000 slot machines. I’m always drawn to the usual Wheel Of Fortune or Top Dollar machines. When I said that these machines tend to be a little bit nicer it’s because I won $ 100 within 10 minutes of being there.
I took a break to walk around and went up to our room which was exquisite. Out of all the casinos in the Phoenix area, this one is my favorite by far. I just hope I can keep the winning streak alive. Fingers crossed!

I was very surprised at how well managed this casino resort is. At five o’clock in the afternoon the casino was packed. Almost all of the machines and tables were occupied. I did not smell cigarette smoke in the air as I have in other casinos. The noise level was low, surprisingly so for the amount of people in house. There were management and security people every where. I had dinner at the buffet and again was surprised at how nice, clean and well managed with a fabulous selection of food and desserts. Management from the Gulf Coast casinos should visit and take some pointers from this management style.

Although I have been going to this casino for years, the visit last night has prompted me to write a slight negative on this review. I love this place, very clean and plenty of room. People always going in and fun atmosphere.
However, last night, when I went to the back bar to grab a drink, I saw that it was near last call for alcohol. I guess it is a rule that they must take in the orders before 1:45 AM. I was second in line to grab my drink when the bartender looked at me and asked what I wanted. She had not seen the girl in front of me and being polite, I told her that there was somebody in front of me. She then proceeded to get the order from the patron. Then the other bartenders had stated that the bar couldn’t serve anymore. I waited for the original bartender to come back with the receipt and told her that she had acknowledged me. She denied my order because of the cutoff time. I was extremely frustrated. I understand policies, however, if I had already been helped but being respectful and letting the next person get in their order, shouldn’t that warrant me privilege to still get my drinks?

The Talking Stick Resort Casino located in Scottsdale Arizona is a place that is more resort than casino. It’s a luxurious but expensive getaway where you can pamper yourself, eat great food, relax, and play some of the best poker anywhere.
Hotel: A – One of the best nicest rooms I’ve stayed in. Great customer service. Lots of luxurious amenities: spa, golf, old fashioned barber, reasonable room service, great tub and shower. It’s expensive but worth the cost.
Gambling: B– — This place has a great energy, but set a strict gambling budget this is not a place to try to get your money back, the odds are stacked in the casinos favor even more than usual and they are stingy with comps, but be sure to play in the best poker room in Arizona.
Food: A– — Good food variety, lots of choices from diner/​café fare to fine dining. The buffet has a great atmosphere, as does Orange Sky. Ocean Trail has great food but lacks atmosphere. Also reasonable room service or eat and play poker. Lots of fun and elegant food options.
Nightlife: A – Okay ten bars, lots of live music, sold out concerts, and an energy that is electric. This is the place to be in Scottsdale when the sun goes down.
Staff: A– — Great customer service. Friendly staff. Some of the best security I’ve ever seen, although a poor IT department seems to cause troubles for the staff.

I have been visiting Arizona yearly for 6 years. Normally I stay at the Buttes (amazing hotel!) however this trip Talking Stick was ‘highly’ recommended and we decided to try something new. I wish we never had made that decision. Not only did Talking Stick Resort fail to mention the two massive DJ pool parties when attempting to reserve a canopy bed (prices starting at $ 800) but my entire ‘relaxing’ Memorial Day vacation was filled with inebriated individuals running around the property crying, yelling, and puking.
However that wasn’t the end of it with the pool parties… We were asked to buy tickets to the pool even though we were paying hotel guests, the spa had to move all customers to rooms on the west side of the hotel as their massage rooms were rattling from the bass (same with our room), valet was overwhelmed with the abundance of so called customers…
Customer service was horrible. When complaining about the issues their response was «well didn’t you look online before booking?» I’m sorry no I did not as my friend reserved it, but regardless that should not be their response to an unhappy customer.
I will never stay at the Talking Stick Resort, you can not even call it a resort. My stay was filled with trash and nothing short of a migraine. There are plenty of amazing resorts/​hotels to chose from, Talking Stick is not one of them.
I do have to say the spa is AMAZING — I feel sorry for they have to put up with the antics of the rest of the resort.

Top shelf all the way. Architecture, décor, room, food. Even the landscaping was great. Saturday night under the stars at Orange Sky on the roof was sublime.
First floor is way too smoky even with its open air concept.
Room 707 (and many others, I learned) had no cold water. Reported it but they didn’t fix. Those were pretty fast showers, believe me. And brushing with melted toothpaste was a first. Would’ve added a star if this had been corrected.
Would love to return.

Concerts at The Pool !!! I saw the Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers on 4÷2÷16, and it was an awesome experience You’re allowed to sit on the edge of the pool with your legs in the water, so for part of the show I did that, and once it got a bit cold out I moved to the jacuzzi. They stamped you at the gate, so I was able to pop into the casino for a bite to eat at the intermission. In the future, if I’m on the fence about seeing a band/​artist, I’d be more likely to go here
If you want to be left alone by the staff, here’s a place for you. Service isn’t lacking as much as it’s somewhat non-​existent. Even at the Orange Sky restaurant, I wandered around in there for a good 5 minutes before being acknowledged, and had to flag somebody down for a table on the patio.
The rooms are beautiful, the golf course is beautiful, and the cig smoke isn’t too bad (certainly a billion times better than Fort McDowell)

So, just realized I haven’t updated my review. Turns out my wife and I staycation here frequently now. We always take for granted the excellent service we receive. It sort of just dawned on us that the rooms are consistently immaculate and the interior conditions are perfect. Other resort hotels we’ve stayed at in the same price range can’t boast the room quality TSR offers.
The casino is clean and active with high energy on the weekends we’ve been. The weekend crowd is young and seems to be a favorite venue for bachelorette parties! Be sure and check out Degree 270 for stunning views. We like to go up there to watch fireworks at nearby Salt River Fields.
We prefer the club level rooms on the 12th and 13th floors, the views from either side are excellent. In September 2015 we received a complimentary room upgrade and enjoyed a two room suite at the pool level. Way too much space for the two of us, but it would perfect for a large group.
Just a great experience all around, we recommend it to friends all the time and I believe they truly deserve our 5 star rating.

I was here two times for charity events and the property is pretty and the service was hit and miss. I am only reviewing the ballrooms, pool area, and event staff not the hotel or casino. (although the casino looks nice for Az standards) We had some issues with dinner service at a sit down dinner I recently attended but that might be a fluke. The pool area is very pretty. Probably four stars if the dinner service did not mess up and the food was not that great. It is a beautiful property.

Decent Indian casino and lounge. The lounge area is actually quite nice, but overall this rating is for the Casino. The casino itself isn’t that big. The area is small and this time around nothing was hitting for me. It wasn’t too smoky in there compared to some indian casinos in California. I liked the variety of machines regardless of the size of the whole area. Overall, it’s an indian casino. Nothing new here and nothing that blew my mind away.

So basically we were looking for a place to gamble and looked on Unilocal and did not find this place, but another. On our way to dinner, our über driver suggest we go to Talking Stick. I’m sure glad he did because this casino had slots, smokers, table games, it was better than the Indian casinos in California for sure! The restaurants were very affordable and facilities were clean. My only gripe (and no this did not have any bearings on my rating) was that everyone here seemed to smoke cigarettes. You can not find a slot machine or table without sitting right next to a smoker. So for those of you who are sensitive to smoke, don’t come here! It’s a smokers land! Other than that, very impressed! Who knew that a place like this could be located right in the middle of a city? Mind blown!

Talking stick is definitely one of the better Casinos in Arizona if you want to have a good time without sweating it too much. They have lots of slot machines and a huge poker room.
If you’re into Blackjack then they have a good number of tables but machine roulette just breaks my heart. For Craps also they have machines which is kind of disappointing.
But Yes this ain’t Vegas so i guess they did a pretty good Job. The Resort has a number of restaurants. The Wandering horse buffet is a good option for Breakfast and weekend brunch.
I have never really stayed here so i don’t know about the rooms.
Overall the resort seems like a fun place.

Fun place to come and gamble. They have all the machines to play as well as blackjack and a large poker room. They also have a nice pool where they throw parties during the summer on the weekends. They also have some nice restaurants that serve some interesting tasty food. One of my favorites is ocean trail. They make different types of stews, bisques, étouffée and jambalaya.

So much to do here! The casino, lounge w/​entertainment at night, club, restaurants, outdoor pool (not heated) and a shopping center near by.
I got a good deal on groupon for a deluxe room & absolutely enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and the staff were friendly :)

The outside of this resort looks cool when hitting golf balls at Topgolf. They have wave-​like lights that are in motion and changes colors… A good sign that it’s clean inside. Inside is spacious and clean. People are smoking but of course the influx of oxygen that helps you stay up for hours and hours suck up the smell of cigarettes.
If you like black jack, this, like any cool casino is perfect. Roulette? Nope. You play with a machine. Craps. NOPE! Yet, another machine. I played for about 30 minutes. I turned $ 200 in $ 209.05. I stuck to just drinking beer. I need dice in hand to really enjoy this game.

I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd tonight. We had cabana seats and VIP pink bracelets. I walked around the entire venue and honestly every place you could be to watch the concert was excellent. Great sound and view from all angles. Highly recommend this venue for all concerts.
I got to the resort early to hang out and gamble a little. While waiting for my friend to arrive I was asking the staff at the front about the concert venue and Erica Perschke was working. I have had her check me in before when I had stayed there. She is extremely friendly and very knowledgable of all things Talking Stick. Another young lady Samantha was also there and just as friendly.
Two things I will say about this resort that should change is the front desk outfits. The outfits are not becoming of any employee or anyone for that matter. Considering this is a resort they should have a more tailored classier looking uniform. Overall though the staff is very pleasant to do business with. The other is the restrooms. The barn style door in the room itself for the restroom had gaps. Talk about no privacy between the restroom and the room itself. Not good! The waitstaff for room service is pleasant. They come into the room and set the table for you, they also come prepared with your change if you are paying cash.
