The Downside Risk is a bar/restaurant located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
History
Established in 2011.
Founded in 1986 by restaurant entrepreneur, Randy Frederick, the Downside Risk was a place where customers were treated like loyalty and most importantly like family. For more than 20 years, the Downside Risk was described as a «Cheers» type of place where everyone knows someone and the employees not only know you by name, but also but what you like to eat and drink.
The name came from a stock market term meaning to take a chance, buying stock on its way down, in hopes it will go up and when the Downside Risk opened up in the late 80’s when yuppies ruled, the name seemed very appropriate. When the stock market crashed in 1987, the Downside Risk became a popular place where patrons came to drown their sorrows.
Now in 2012 the Downside Risk is back, in uncertain times in a brand new location with a renewed vow to bring back the «local» feeling in Scottsdale.
