The Regents at Scottsdale

Checked out this place online a while back. It had everything I wanted, which was a garage and a one bedroom, not too much to ask for and probably the easiest sale for the leasing consultant. The communication in the beginning phases was kind of difficult before the move in, but I’m sure it’s because they were busy. I can see where one reviewer was mad about the time table on her exit experience, as I had made arrangements for the movers to come in the morning. I asked the staff if they can give me the key the day before or at 8 am, they don’t open until 9 am, but I was advised someone always comes in early at 8:30, so I told the movers to get some breakfast. Anyways, no one showed up early, but it worked out in the end. However, I can’t see the same reviewer get mad for getting billed on the carpet damage, as she stated she had pets. No new person wants to walk in anyone’s pee or poop, including puppies. Overall, love this place, the neighbors are awesome, the staff is excellent and somehow with all the residents, they do know you by name, maybe that’s a good thing or a bad. Never had any issues, so hopefully this doesn’t jinx it. Maybe the only issue I have is the mosquitos in the warmer months, they’ll eat you alive, but that’s probably because of the canal that’s close to the complex. No place is perfect, but this 99.9% satisfaction, even Lysol isn’t 100%.

While the amenities are nice (pools), the staff are rude and inflexible. For example, they indicated that they needed to conduct a walk-​through of my apartment within a week of giving notice that I would be moving. They provided a date and said it would be in the afternoon. I asked if it could be in the morning so that I could be there as I have pets. Angelica (assistant manager) refused. I asked for another date and was told they only do walk-​throughs on certain dates and times. Then without further discussion, Angelica walked away.
Knowing they would be difficult to work with, I requested a walk-​through of my apartment before starting my drive across the country. We tried to get a Saturday walk-​through. Angelica indicated she didn’t work on Saturday, but could on Sunday when they opened at 11 am. We were planning to start our 26 hour drive on Saturday, but to accommodate the walk-​through we stayed — in an empty apartment on the floor — until Sunday at 11 am. Angelica never showed up. We went to the office and found out she had taken the day off. When I complained to the Manager I got a weak apology and an excuse.
Then of course, they billed me for damage to the carpet. I contacted them because when I moved in Angelica had sold me on the «sure deposit.» It’s a non-​refundable deposit that costs less than a refundable deposit but that would cover damage — like an insurance policy. Or so I thought. When I got the bill, I emailed Angelica. She emailed me back and very rudely stated that it was explained thoroughly to me by her when I moved in. Interestingly she told me that she had only worked there 2 months when I signed my lease, so I’m confident she didn’t know what she was talking about.
You’d be better served living out of tent in the Arizona heat than enduring the pain inflicted by The Regents staff. Look elsewhere.

Overall a great quiet place. The staff knows you by name and everyone is friendly

I have been here for 1 month and think it will be even better than I expected. The office staff — Katie, Ciera and Angelical, are very professional and answer my silly questions. They are down to earth and really care. The maintenance staff — John — are prompt, courteous and know that they are doing. The grounds are immaculate and the trees are lovely and huge. I am on the 3^rd floor and the tops of the trees give me great shade and a free show of birds singing and playing on the limbs. The area is fantastic. You could not want for more shopping, restaurants, service providers, etc. My only issue is the noise from people slamming the heavy front doors. It does reverberate through my unit, sometimes at all hours on the weekends. It is really quite easy to hold the door as you shut it! Will update more later.

Time for another update. I still live here at The Regents (it’s been 5.5 years) and still think it is the best in the area. Mark Taylor has just done so much to make this community better! I now have the new upgrades for my unit coming (upgraded fixtures and lighting, stainless steel appliances, vinyl plank flooring) and am even happier with my apartment. We have yoga classes, food truck nights, a community forum, the improvements never stop. I just so appreciate the hard work of the staff to continually improve our complex. If you’re looking for an apartment (and you’re awesome) you should definitely check out The Regents!

This place is awesome! The management at the front office are all really nice people. The greenery and scenery all over this apartment complex is so nice. There are little waterfalls and a little stream, lots of big old trees and the pool area is really pretty. Also the floorplans inside of these apartments are really nice, some of the best we’ve seen around here and we looked at probably 10 other places in our search to find an apartment. This place is also located right next to a park and a dog park, so just walking around here and taking the pups for a walk is really serene.

I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with this place. I didn’t actually move in but I would definitely strongly recommend this place to anyone looking at this 101 loop north/​east area. Ciera, the community manager and her entire staff here are absolutely a pleasure to deal with. They are very accommodating, and thorough. As mentioned, even though I didn’t actually move-​in I couldn’t say enough great things. The center courtyard area is beautiful, they just installed lighting on the water features /​waterfalls and trees and it’s like a hidden little paradise.

I have lived here for a year & just signed another year lease. The office staff Chase & Angelica are always kind, respectful & always helpful! Maintenance Jon & Vince have always come to my apartment in a timely manner & fixed whatever I’ve requested & with a great attitude !! The asst manager Ciera & manager Jillian are just as kind helpful & awesome as the rest of the staff. I love living there! The price is right & location perfect!

Just moved out after 8 months. Broke the lease which cost $ 2000 which was fine. The kick was, a couple weeks later they tried to charge over $ 4000. They had us pay for carpets and pay all the discounts back and then some. Living with loud kids always stomping around above us and having to park on the other side of the complex was enough to leave and invest in my own home. Settled payment with under $ 3500 but really? That was way more than the $ 2500 we expected to pay.
Note: Sure Deposit is a joke. It doesn’t cover anything but they are sure to take your deposit. Plus pet rent is just wasted money because they will still charge for carpets when you leave.
Staff was friendly, but I don’t extend that comment to corporate Mark-​Taylor.
I don’t recommend this apartment.
