Prices are much higher than Lowes especially for lumber. The customer service is lacking except for a handful of employees that are always nice. Questions are answered with an attitude a majority of the time. we go to Spangler’s a few miles up the road whenever we can to avoid this place.

I live in the area and appreciate that this business is locally owned. It has just enough of everything for a simple weekend project, but if you’re not sure what you want and prefer a big selection of options, this isn’t your place.
Their prices are high, on everything. Across the board, they are an expensive option for most things I’ve purchase from them. I probably stop in once a month, maybe a little less. Anything I have compared them on has been more expensive. But it beats driving to Lowe’s in northern Albemarle County, almost 45 minutes away.
In terms of service? Spotty. Sometimes, I am totally ignored. Other times, acknowledged. If feels like I am interrupting a private party sometimes and it’s a little irritating. But I am not there to shop for a friend, so that’s o.k.
A good, local alternative. I would go there FIRST, every time if the prices were more competitive. If the service was outstanding, like the Ace Hardware in Maine that I went out of my WAY to go to before I moved here, I’d be willing to pay the difference.
