The reason for the 3 stars is the slowness of the food coming out. We waited over an hour for our food, 2 trays of Pizza and 3 sandwiches. Our Waitress was friendly and attentive. When the pizza came it was delicious, however I would most likely think twice to go to dinner here. Also the Wine list is not updated and they were out of 2 of the pinot grigo wine choices. The one they suggested was just OK. Maybe take out.

Not the best choice & not very clean. Glum servers. Waited forever for sandwiches. We were told gnocchi is homemade and it definitely is NOT. Marinara sauce is like battery acid. Steak and cheese has very little meat & cheese –it’s practically all roll. The hot roast beef is hardly edible. Gravy was awful. Actually a canned gravy would be a step up from what we ate. Not going back.

Much better than Pizza by Alfredo. I once decided to choose Pizza by Alfredo because I had a half coupon, but it was the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Do not mix these two locations up. Alfredo’s Pizza Café is the place to go.

Great place for martinis as the drink menu is pages long. My boyfriend and I each had two different martinis and split a tray of pizza. Food & drinks were excellent!

Alfredo’s in Southside Scranton left me wanting more. The inside is very clean, the waitstaff was attentive and very courteous. The food was below average. The French onion soup was decent as well as the pesto gnocchi. The ham and cheese calzone was not very good. The ricotta was gritty and the dough tasteless. They have a full bar with an extensive Martini list. The beers are serviced in icy cold mugs and goes down smooth. I would not recommend Alfredo’s as there are better Italian restaurants within 10 minutes.

I’ve never had anything bad here and is always exceptionally good food. I’ve eaten in once and had delivery or pick up many times. On busy nights like Friday night, an hour to get food delivered or even pick up is normal. It is worth the wait. I love their veal marsala(i’d swear I was at the old Villa Maria I), square pizza and strawberry salads. They have many flavors of martinis too! This is just good food.

I was doing work in Southside Scranton and wanted to eat. The place was close and I didn’t want fast food. The place is dark. Since I eat alone a lot, I generally read the paper. It’s not usually a problem. It was very difficult to read in here as the place is poorly lit. The service was slow. It was a slow Monday, so they can’t blame it on being busy. I ordered veal parm. The sauce was uninspired. And the pasta was nothing special. Probably since I couldn’t see anything in the dark, my other senses were working harder. I know a bunch of better Italian restaurants. When I want Italian, this won’t be my choice again.

I went to Alfredo’s for dinner while visiting family in the area. A hostess seated us immediately. We sat outside of the restaurants(a few tables are on the walkway). We order a double crust cheese pizza(two layers of dough stuffed with cheese & onions) and square pepperoni pizza. I thought the double crust pizza was decent. It’s very cheesy with good flavor from the onions. My favorite pizza was Alfredo’s square pepperoni pizza. The sauce and dough was good. Alfredo’s cheese is really flavorful. It’s the best part of Alfredo’s square pizza in my opinion. Service from our waiter and bar service was average at best(2 stars)! The restaurant is located in a strip mall. There’s plenty of parking for customers. Alfredo’s has an extensive cocktail menu. Alfredo’s Pizza Café is «A-OK».

I love the justification for food consumption that my short lived food blog provided. On a Tuesday, I called my friend Rose and said, «I need to eat somewhere awesome so I can update the blog». Early on in my Scranton life Rose was a great resource for food in Scranton– but I insisted that it needed to be somewhere new to me! The following is a(not so brief) recap of my Alfredo’s experience. We started a haphazard cruise and saw a little Mexican joint on Cedar that was illuminated by a curious blue light, but when the lady inside showed us a day old«buffet» consisting primarily of beef gruel, I mumbled something about not eating meat and moved on. Thank goodness that Rose remembered Alfredo’s! Alfredo’s is located in South Side, right on North Washington. Thank goodness it was close, because I am generally unpleasant when I’m hungry. Visually, it’s a nice place– a pretty outdoor eating patio, with plenty of(artificial?) foliage to create a little space from the road. Upon entering the restaurant, the bartender checked us out– and then ignored us… and then another server looked up and quickly looked down and… walked away. I was actually surprised she didn’t hold her hand up to hide her face. Eventually(and I do mean in no less than 5 minutes) someone came and sat us. We ordered a tasty appetizer as soon as possible– An oven roasted butternut squash with sage pasta, and a sinfully sweet brown sugar brandy cream sauce with walnuts. It was as good as it sounds– the sauce especially worked well– the touch of brandy added a rich note to the sauce, while still allowing the other flavors room to work their magic. For our meals Rosaleen ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and I ordered gnocchi with pesto sauce. Rosaleen’s salad was a large portion, and the dressing was a traditional Caesar. My gnocchi portion was humongous and delicious! Rather than a thick pesto sauce that seems favored by some of the other Italian eatery’s I’ve visited locally, this sauce was light while still flavorful. The gnocchi were also cocked correctly– which ultimately means that yes, I gorged myself. Rosaleen’s husband Michael joined us about halfway through the meal– and thankfully they both helped me with my meal. The good things: They’re open late on week nights and the pasta dishes are tasty and highly recommended, the lighting and ambiance are all well done. The bad: On this particular night, the service was disappointing. Our server forgot my salad, served me clearly burnt coffee and the bowl of soup we ordered for Michael ended up being a cup. I can and often do excuse a server for silly mistakes, because I served for nearly 15 years and we all have those nights– it isn’t a life crisis. However, what did put a bad taste in my mouth was that although they are open late, the waitstaff made it clear they’d prefer not to be. Still– that butternut squash was pretty outrageous.

Ordered delivery from here for The Office connection and was pleasantly surprised. First, I did not have ANY issue with the delivery service, as is so frequently stated in these reviews. I ordered without issue and my food came promptly when they said it would. Onto the food… I ordered the square tray, thick crust pizza and while this is typically not my style it appeared as though they specialize in it so I went for it. I have to say, it was really quite good. The crust was absolutely perfect… a nice chew on the inside with a really crispy, buttery, golden outside. The sauce was also really tasty and I wished they put more on it. The cheese was uniquely melty in a way I couldn’t quite put my finger on, but in a good way nonetheless. The only real issue I had with the pizza, and the only reason it lost a star, is that the sausage was COMPLETELY tasteless. I wouldn’t have noticed there was sausage on my pizza if not for the texture as I was eating, and a pulled of a few pieces to try on their own and literally tasted nothing. That shouldn’t be. So, Alfredo’s, if you’re reading… put more of that delicious sauce on your pizzas and season your sausage!

A limited amount of pretty good pizza, great for when you are getting pizza for the whole office.

You get a good experience with the staff if you sit at the bar or dine at a table. But if you call for takeout, the woman who answers is surly and unpleasant. Then when you go to pick-up, she behaves the same way… and the greatest irony is that she has a tip jar prominently displayed. Based on the bad experience, I always feel like I should get a chance to dip into the tips. I strongly suspect that she is part of the owner’s family… why else would they keep her.

We went here after my Grandmother’s funeral so we were a large party of 30+. I was a little concerned after reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The service was great. The food was excellent and plentiful. I was amazed at how large the ceased salad, pretzel chicken, chicken Marsala etc. we’re. There was more than enough God to go around. If you order a small pizza, don’t think it is just for one. I joked that it was a Papa John’s large. The only downside that I saw, and I am a pizza snob, is that they do not use fresh mushrooms on their pizza. I would highly recommend. The food came out fairly quickly and they were very attentive to the entire party. The other negative reviews do not do this place justice.

Slow night at the restaurant yet it still took over 50 minutes for the food to come out. Place has potential but it’s old school. Net necessarily in a good way.

The pizza here is great, but like others have mentioned, the service is terrible. I recently ordered take out from here and even that service is awful. The person in front of me came to pick up her pizza, but the person waiting on her said someone already got it. Obviously they gave the wrong item to the wrong customer. She didn’t apologize and had a flippant attitude about the situation. I enjoyed my food, but the ordeal for the other customer will make me think twice about ordering from here.

The eat in only pizza special is great. Kind of pricey so we don’t normally go here too often. The pasta is pretty good as well. We always get this one older gentleman waiting our table and he is awesome.

I am kind of surprised to see such bad reviews of this place. I have lived — well, all over, and everytime I am home I come here with my parents. Their square pizza is by far my favorite pizza, ever! It has a great sweet sauce and an ooey gooey mixture of cheese on top. I agree– service isn’t the best and takeout is SLOW, but I will still go back everytime I’m home!

Choose Square or Round Pizza: Do you like thin and crispy New York style? Order Round Or do you like overly thick crust with sweet sauce? Order Square. I like round… It was decent here
