Neptune Subs

Stopped in on a whim on a weekday and was greeted by the friendly owner who asked if we were hungry. We were. The fare is basic sub sandwiches and salads, but excellent.
One customer came in and said he didn’t want tomatoes and the owners response was, «Are you sure, our tomatoes are excellent.» And indeed, unlike a chain restaurant, the tomatoes were great.

This place is really awesome. Love their food and the staff is so friendly.

I love this place! Friendly staff and great prices. The chicken salad is amazing! The bread is also very fresh. I also enjoy when they have hot meatballs. You won’t be disappointed!

Sandwiches are my favorite food group. I’m pretty much in love with any carbohydrate that you can load up with ingredients (pizzas, burritos and baked potatoes are also awesome).
When we moved to the area Neptune’s went immediately to the top of my hit list due to the nearly 5-​star Unilocal rating, and the fact that they make sandwiches.
I’ll cut to the chase on this:
–Stellar ingredients (no slumming it ala Subway)
–Portion sizes are generous for the price.
–Awesomely charming Americana décor and vibe.
–I’m all about shopping local and this is that.
–Parking is tricky due to heavy traffic but worth the inconvenience.
–they gave my kid a wind-​up toy
I also got the clam chowder (which tasted a lot like Campbell’s, but they confirmed it was made there) and the oatmeal cookie (free with check-​in on Unilocal), in all I paid about $ 8 for all of that and my 6 inch Italian. Fantastic!

This place has the best meatball sub on the planet, go for the extra cheese… my favorite though is the hot roast beef with the Russian dressing and you can dip it in the asou juice… YUM!!! I hope these guys don’t go out of business with the new expansion coming.

Called to place a delivery order and for the 3^rd time in four attempts to order (over the last couple of months) they wouldn’t or couldn’t deliver. We really like Neptune Subs food but come on people, if you are not going to deliver don’t say you will on your website.

The clam chowder (available every Friday and on some Saturdays) is Absolutely Delicious! It is only $ 3.99 for a very generous bowl. It’s served piping hot (perfect). And no matter who is working the counter, I always receive fast, friendly service. There are lots of cute quirks to the place (like Bald Mondays, and labeling the unsweet tea «Yankee Tea») I also appreciate that there is delivery available in the late afternoon, without a minimum purchase requirement. This place is terrific!

Great food an customer service is awesome!!! I can eat here every day. They have mayo and also Miracle Whip most places now don’t care both an when they make your sandwich they load the sandwich down with meat cheese and anything else you want on it. Neptune subs are larger and more feelings then Subway subs.

I always hesitated to visit this place but am so glad that I did! Their hot roast beef sandwhich is always the sandwich I get, but all the other ones are just as tasty! The Russian dressing is amazing! And I love the fact that they offer huge Togo cups for drinks. Love me some neptunes!!!

Delicious sandwiches and friendly staff. This was a perfect stop on the way back from Kemah to Houston for a reasonably priced lunch.

I don’t get all the «great» reviews! I found the sub to be just okay. No better than what I make at home. While I was waiting I heard someone ask if they made their own meatballs. They said no. He then asked about the sauce. They said no. He said it was all a bit too salty for his taste. Honestly, I won’t go back. Don’t get me wrong it was not bad. The bread was fresh as well as the other ingredients. It just wasn’t anything special. Maybe I’m just spoiled to good ‘olé Louisiana poboys!

Recommend! Small but classic sub shop. Lots of history and a not a sterile, plain, chain store like other sub shops in the area. Came for lunch on Monday pm and calm, quiet, cool vibe. Lots of working, everyday Joes eating there or picking up to go. Ate the 6″ Hot Meatball sub with Provaline cheese on wheat. Simple, but delicious! Huge sandwich and excellent value for quantity and quality of food. Staff also friendly and fast. Try it!

I’ve seen this place forever and never stopped in until recently. I ordered the 12 inch Deluxe Italian Sub and was immediately impressed at how fast it was made, wrapped, and handed over. The bread was soft and delicious like a dinner roll. The sub was packed full of meat (no skimping here) and fresh veggies as well as roasted red peppers. The sub itself was so tasty that I ate half before I went to work (it was a large portion) and dreamed of the other half during my eight hour shift. The leftovers were just as tasty as the fresh half. I give two thumbs up! I can’t wait to try their other specialties.

OK, I’ll have to admit, I’ve been by this place hundreds of times and why I’ve never stopped until just a couple of days ago is beyond me!!! I had heard it was good but, I didn’t know what I had been missing! It’s been here since around 1978 and I usually passed it up all these years going to eat seafood, or on my way to launch my boat in Clear Lake. My wife and I finally made it a point to go for lunch and we weren’t disappointed! They have a great menu selection to choose from! They not only have a great selection of sandwiches in 6″ and 12″ sizes, but they have salads, soups, and baked potatoes. We ordered the Deluxe Italian sub’s which were amazing!!! Stacked with Cappicola, hard salami, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, oregano, oil and vinegar, and Parmesan. The choices of sandwiches are many, such as Turkey breast, Smoked turkey, Tuna salad, chicken salad, Boar’s Head brand Roast Beef, Cappicola, Egg salad, Club turkey, ham, and cheese, and vegetarian sub’s. As well as hot Meatball sub’s. You have a selection of Pepper jack, provolone, and swiss cheeses. They also have kids meals for around $ 3.99 that includes 1\3 of a 12″ sub plus chips, a pickle, and a drink. If your having a party they also can furnish you with mini sub trays that will feed 10 – 12 people. And as another plus they have delivery!!! They accept all major credit cards! The sandwiches were really great!!! I can’t wait to try different sandwiches! We are definitely going to start making return visits to Neptune’s!!!

I wanted a quick lunch on my way to work so at the light I saw Neptune Subs. This place has intrigued me for years so I decided I’ll go today. Wow I actually was impressed with the freshness of the bread, meat, cheeses… I ordered a 6in. sub and it was great, actual meat & cheese oh my! I got the white bread and it was very good, I believe it was one of the best breads I have had in a long time.
I did asked the sub artist to surprise me on my cheese, and not tell me. (I liked them all, I know its stupid but it was fun!) I think he had fun too…
Anyways, the cashier was nice and polite, offered the up sell chips and drink and actually looking back on it ill do that next time.
I would go their again, I think I’ll try a potato next time!

Hands down the absolute best tasting subs I’ve ever had. Prices are good, they give you plenty to sink your teeth into. The owner is a hoot, very friendly to talk with. The framed caricatures and cartoons are a nice touch.
It’s small and cozy inside for seating… not a bad spot for informal dates.

If you don’t like Neptune Subs, you don’t like Seabrook! No! Texas! If you don’t like Neptune, you don’t like America! I don’t normally throw the term «un-​American» around but I’m getting real close here.
Giant sub sandwiches made out of the absolute highest quality ingredients with a funky, friendly, small town feel. My favorite order is a chicken salad sub with cheese and reds (roasted red bell peppers), pretzels, and a coke. Yum!
And how can you resist Bald Monday? I mean, I don’t save anything so I don’t particularly go on that day but I love the light hearted, generous idea of it.

They. Deliver. And I mean that literally and figuratively. There’s so few places around our work that deliver, that’s it’s great to find a place that not only delivers, but delivers great food.
We had six different orders, and when we called in, knew it would take awhile, as we needed them separated and all special ways. But they were very helpful and patient and even called back to verify the address for the next day delivery.
They were a few minutes late delivering but the driver was so super sweet and apologetic about it, how could you be upset? It worked out okay and everything tasted fabulous!
I got a low carb turkey wrap with swiss cheese with Zapps chips and a pickle. Yeah yeah low carb wrap and a bag of chips. I just really like wraps. But I kinda wish I had gotten the sub roll as it looked soo good and fresh. Is there anything better than good bread? Yeah. No. The pickle was a huge and I had to share half of it. I love pickles but this was a LOT of pickles! But the wrap was stuffed full of yummy turkey and cheese and veggies. They come with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, oil and vinegar. I ordered mine without mayo and they offered mustard instead which was nice and gratefully accepted. The chips were fine, but I’m not huge on chips so next time I might try the potato salad.
They also have homemade egg salad sandwiches, which is about one of my favorite things in the world, so I can’t WAIT to go back and try one of those! Actually I can’t wait to go back period. Whether we get lunch delivered again, or go there, I know it will be a delicious, awesome meal!

Forget the other sub places. Neptunes has the best subs .Like most others reviews the hot roast beef sub is a must try.

Been going here since the late 70’s and never had a bad experience. This place is loved and supported by the locals and is better than most of the restaurants down in Kemah.
The meatball sub is awesome and I’ve never been able to eat the entire thing in one sitting. The roast beef is also great.
Stop here on the way to Kemah and pay ¹⁄₃ the price for food that is 3x better.
