Sunrise of Seal Beach

Currently have my aunt here who needs assistance. The care givers are amazing. They are kind, sweet and very loving to each resident here. I visit her often and it’s always consistent. They provide 3 meals a day, and it’s not slop food, it is good quality food for the elders. There is a hotel like environment, but never cold. Everyone seems to know every family member and greets them when coming through the reception area. They have many TV’s, juke box, you can have anything you want really, they have two areas that have «bistros» which stock water, ice tea, coffee, tea, freshly baked cookies, fruit, granola bars, popcorn etc. But the most important part is the care and they do really care. They also have monthly entertainment, a band that plays 1950s music, a pianist etc. I am so confident that my aunt will be taken care of here we do not need to worry, we really don’t. That is the best feeling ever.
This place is very pricey, but you do get what you pay for. You get top notch care takers, a wonderful Director named Gino, Kathleen is one of the receptionists that is just so sweet and inviting.
Thank you Sunrise for making this a much easier transition for my aunt and the rest of our family. We all appreciate the dignity and care she and other residents receive.

This place is the MOTHER LOAD of SENIOR LIVING! If you live long enough eventually you will get older. Trust me on this one because I am experiencing it NOW! You know you’re getting older when… you sit or kneel on the floor and DON’T or CAN’T spring right back up like a jack in the box. There is actually a long list of things but there is NOT enough time or character space!
So I was here for a yoga class while my trial studio (Anya Flow) gets a facelift (remodel)! This awesome facility allowed us to use a room until our studio is completed! There is AMPLE PARKING for visitors and RESIDENTS. The grounds are IMMACULATE, BEAUTIFUL and SERENE! It is surrounded by Old Ranch Golf Club, the Navy Golf Course and Bixby Golf Course and is just a few blocks from shopping, dining, and entertainment all in Seal Beach or the surrounding cities!
They offer 4 types of living experiences which are Assisted Living, Alzheimer’s & Memory Care, Independent Living, and Short-​Term Stays which all include a wide variety of activities, cozy environment and meals that are based on each resident’s preferences and needs. Ok I got all that from there website but I did see it with my own beady little eye too!
Every corner from the inside out is warm and relaxing and NO OLD people smell like you get at grandma’s house. You know the one… mothballs mixed with cakes/​cookies baking and ammonia! It’s CLEAN and LIGHT even with warm tones! HUGE CUSHY sofas and chairs are located throughout the facility and there is ALWAYS a staff person around if assistance is needed! The STAFF even know all the residents by name and treat them with LOVE and CARE! THERE ARE NO cray-​cray, out of control STAFF members abusing the residents! It is NOTHING like the HORROR stories you see on TV with elderly care homes! I WANTED to MOVE in myself! I have always told my parents I would NEVER put them in one of those HORRID facilities where they’d basically be paying to be abused when I could do it for free myself! hahahhah! Just kidding! GEZZ relax already!
There is a small resident dog named Baily who is SUPER FRIENDLY and everyone LOVES him! Residents are also allowed to have small pets of their own. There might be a restriction of type and size or number of animals allowed on the premises but it is still REALLY GREAT they can bring their pet along! There is even different apt floor plans to select from studio, one bed, 2 bed room or you can share a 2 bedroom and have a roommate! I can’t see anyone wanting to relive the messy, noisy, inconsiderate college roommate experience of your early 20’s, but it available none-​the-​less!
There are several sun rooms to seat in, and patios areas outside where you can sit in a UBER COMFY rocking chair, under an archway or gazebo, and bathrooms are located all over in case your out and about in the facility. Several game rooms, a pool table, board games, computers, TV rooms, a main dining room, snack rooms, cookies, tea, popcorn, water and coffee are always on hand for the residents and a couple movie rooms with updated DVDs to watch. The monthly activity board is WAAAYYYY better than ANY daycare or summer camp you send your kids too. And the FOOD LOOKED and SMELLED AAMMMMAAAZZZZING!
I was able to chat with a couple of the residents as I was going to and from my yoga class and when I inquired about one of the ladies I chatted with I was told I could come back and visit her any time! She doesn’t have any children or family and so I figured since my grandparents have all died and are taking a dirt nap I can visit with her. Sort of like on the movie «Fried Green Tomatoes».
Not everyone has the room or space for aging parents in their home or the time to assist them if they need it. Maybe your parents are a pain in the AZZ and while you love them you just can’t see them moving in and turning your home into a war zone so a little distance is just what the doctor ordered then this is your place! Or maybe your kids drive you NUTZ-​O or they are just lazy and triflin’ and STILL LIVE at home, won’t grow up and won’t move out! Here’s an idea… sale the house and move here! There are several locations but this BY FAR is ZZZZ-​BEST one I have seen!
Stop by and check it out if you or a LOVED one is at that point where they can’t or don’t want to live alone anymore! While I LOVE the mom-​n-​ator I can’t see her moving in with me! We’d certainly kill each other and both be taking a dirt nap with her smother-​mother routine! She means well but a little distance would be just what the doctor ordered!
