History

Established in 2007.

A&R Solar was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Andy Yatteau and Reeves Clippard as one of the first contractors dedicated to solar installations in Washington State.

A&R Solar has installed more than 500 systems since March 2007. The portfolio of projects spans government, like the King County Housing Authority; education, such as Western Washington University; businesses like True Value Hardware; and hundreds of residences from Sequim to Spokane.

With a strong belief that solar energy should be accessible to all, A&R Solar leads in developing community solar programs throughout the state. A&R has partnered with Seattle City Light and Clark Public Utilities to bring community solar to their utility customers.

A&R Solar invests in its community, donating thousands of dollars each year in funding and solar energy to support nonprofits that align with their vision of environmental and social sustainability.

Wonderful company to work with! Very professional, from the initial contact to completion and training on the new system. The installation was perfect. Worked well with our electrical company so that all the necessary permits and paperwork were completed correctly.

Very disappointing experience with A & R’s representative. Of the four different contractors we had come out, A & R was the only one that kept adding additional «requirements of their company» besides the actual product, including an engineering inspection certificate and reinforcement of our roof. The other three contractors were quite satisfied with the application area. We never received a quote from A & R, even after requesting one from them by e-​mail, but we have received numerous ads from them via e-​mail.

My wife and I just got solar panels on our roof a little over a month ago, and we just got our first electric bill. It seems our savings will pay for the cost in 5 – 6 years, maybe even quicker if this summer is a sign of things to come. Anders and the folks at A&R Solar did the whole job in a little over one day, and then did the paperwork for the city inspector and the form for the state tax break. All I had to do was to flip the switch that turned it on. Going Solar is to be highly recommended in general, but these folks did an especially good job, and explained the whole process in detail.

A&R recently installed an 8.4kw PV system for us and the ENTIRE process was handled very professionally, everything from initial discussions to onsite review, to sales docs and financial referral, to final design and installation and even the followup certifications and documentation. Everything went very smoothly; we couldn’t have asked for a better project!

We couldn’t have been more happy with the overall process of going solar with A & R Solar. Damien was as straight forward and upfront about the costs and benefits of getting panels. He initially said we may want to wait to see what our sun exposure would be once we removed a diseased tree that was creating some shade. Once we removed it, it was a no-​brainer. Everyone involved has been great and very prompt getting back to us with questions. Our neighbor went with one of the most well known companies (whom I won’t name). I had to teach him the in’s and out’s of his system. The company never walked him through anything. Not to mention their referral incentive is less than half of what A & R pays.

A&R deserves the highest praise. Everyone I dealt with was thorough, knowledgeable and patient (special thanks to Damien!). After a few conversations with their sales team, I really felt like an expert on solar incentives and technology – which feels very empowering in the face of a large financial investment.
And, bonus, my system is positioned to exceed A&R’s production estimates, and therefore my expectations! Can’t thank them enough.

Two rooftop solar installations later, this company is still #1 in our eyes. They executed exactly as promised, on time, neat and clean work, all systems go from day one. They handled all the city and state paperwork, educated us, presented a variety of product options without overwhelming us and came up with a design to maximize energy production that had eluded other bidders. Their pricing is transparent, passion evident. Their crews work safely and the teams work respectfully together and with the homeowner. Both units work as anticipated, only better. When product delays threatened to interfere with the predicted schedule, they made sure the customer wasn’t the one bearing potential cost and risk. This is a great company to work with, especially in this emerging field. They are up on the latest technology, but careful not to get ahead of it. Very impressive. Very grateful for their guidance as we tried to save energy, money, and reduce our impact on the planet.

They installed a super system for us and were willing to try something new with a Tigo monitoring system. Best explanations of any company we interviewed and beautiful work. We ran into a small glitch with the monitoring system and they took complete responsibility for this and worked with us until it was right – a sign of a good company not only when everything goes smoothly, but ability to manage the unexpected.
