Aaron Brothers Art & Framing

This place is ok but downtown needs a better art supply store. One located away from all the crack heads. It really bothers me when I walk in and all the isles are crazy crooked. The end.

I wish I could give this location and store more stars. They are ran over with frames, and under stocked on art supplies. Downtown needs a stop for art supplies, without going up to CapHill.
Additionally their pricing on custom framing is outrageous. Even with a coupon.
Good for a frame, some paint, and canvas.

I went in yesterday for the penny sale (buy a frame, get another for a penny) and got a great deal for some really nice frames. The staff were incredibly helpful in helping me find what I was looking for and answering any questions I had. One even helped me carry my frames to the bus stop a block away because I was having difficulty carrying a larger one out of the store. Great place, great frames, great service. Will definitely be back.

I work a few blocks away from Aaron Brothers Art & Framing.
I’ve visited the store about 15 times in the last 3 years. Most of my visits were between 5:00 and 6:30 PM.
On one occasion, I was greeted shortly after entering the store. On most occasions, I enter the store, browse, and leave without being greeted. I don’t know where the employees are, but they are often out of sight. In general, I don’t think this is typical of Aaron Brothers Art & Framing.
On one visit, I purchased an easel. I had to locate an employee to ring-​up my purchase. When I set up the easel at home, it was very flimsy. It could barely support the weight of my drawing board. I decided to upgrade to a better easel. I went to the store to return the easel the next day, and they couldn’t process my return. The previous day, I paid with cash.
According to the employee I spoke with, this store needs at least one-​day notice to process a cash return. Since this is a downtown location, and it’s a pain to tote an easel on the bus, I wasn’t pleased. The back of their receipt doesn’t say anything about notice.
The employee who assisted me was rude throughout the exchange process, and offered to process my return with rolled coin. Yarg.

I just bought a home so I was coming into this Aaron Brothers very frequently to see if anything new came in or if there were any special promotions since this is right by where I work and they usually have a good selection of canvas pieces. In the 1 out of eight to ten times I’ve entered this store, I’ve been acknowledged only once or twice. I usually have to walk up to the desk to ask for help and in some instances, the sales people acted as if I was inconveniencing them. On one of my lunch breaks, I did happen to walk into a great sale and found a large canvas piece that was perfect for my living room. It had all the right colors, right size and right look. It was pouring that day and I had commuted to work by bus. While I was purchasing my art, I asked the sales girl if I could pay for it and come pick it up after work that night with my car. She looked incredibly inconvenienced when all I needed was a wall space to prop my art until I could bring it home without damaging it in the rain. She reluctantly agreed but made me feel incredibly bad for asking. I did just pay over $ 150 for that piece so I was surprised by her attitude. If that piece didn’t fit so perfectly with my living room décor, I would’ve left it. Other than the strange customer service experience, I do like their art selection and 50% off sales that happen pretty frequently.

been here two different times for things i’ve gotten framed. all in all, it’s been fine, but…
first time I had to call them to see if my pieces were done because it was over the expected time they had told me. turns out they were done so when I called they told me to come get them. ok, but they should have called me when they were done.
second time i just went at a bad time. the girl working the framing part of the store was new. possibly brand new. i was using a groupon which she didn’t know how to ring in or price what i was wanting, so the manager had to come over multiple times to help her figure it out. i was in a patient mood, so not too annoyed at the time, but obviously they should train their employees a little better. it just took forever for the whole process to be complete.
in the end I have no complains about the final product. just some frustrations with the process of getting there.
also, they have great coupons and deals happening constantly so be on their mailing list if you’re interested.

Note: I’ve never framed art before so I was a bit intimidated starting this «gown-​up» process, but Aaron Brothers made it pain-​free.
I went here for a frame and matting to finish off some street art I bought. My photo was one of those «flawed» pieces (i.e. a corner was dinged when putting it on the foam, and so the entire side was shaved, making it odd dimensions, but without any remaining visible flaw — suffice to say I save money where I can).
I went into the store with photo in hand, and a salesperson found me pretty quickly. I explained what I wanted, we measured the piece, got a frame that was the closest to proportional and picked out two mat colors. Another salesperson was also very helpful with explaining complementary colors, and I’m in love with how they bring out bits of my photograph. Unfortunately, the colors I wanted weren’t in stock, so I was told they’d be ordered and there within 10 days.
Fast-​forward… I’m picking up the matting (which I’ve had cut for me), and take it home to find that no matter how I twist it, one corner of my picture always falls forward through the matting. Imagine my disappointment :(However, I called the store, explained the predicament, and was told I could bring it back and have the mat recut any time for no added cost. Impressive. And delivered as promised. When I returned, a girl took it straight back (with my photo this time, too, as this wasn’t done the first time around due to the back order on the mat), fixed it, and I was on my way within 10 minutes.
Finally, I have conquered my art! It now hangs proudly on my wall, taking up the extra couple inches in each direction I needed for proportion.
Overall, while there were a couple hiccups along the way, all sales people I met were very helpful and professional. I will definitely be going back for my next art project.

lovely customer service! the person who was helping us pick out a frame, even placed teh picture in the frame, cut it to the right size and told us about their special mother’s day sale.

Aaron Brothers is like a reliable, old college buddy, one that you don’t need to see or talk to often, but is always there for you when you need them.
I can’t wait for their penny sale.

I had 24 16×20 prints drymounted on foamcore. Every one had a wrinkle or a crease in the photo, or an indentation mark that looked like there was a gouge in the foamcore. The edges were crappy, like they cut the core before they laid the photos on it. Photos extending beyond the edge of the core, and some where the core stuck out from the edge of the photo.
I know, this is pretty precise work, you’re operating in a time-​crunched environment, and drymounting is a 1-​shot deal you can’t re-​do once you’ve touched the material together. But come on. At least lay the photo on the core then cut around the edge.

I am hands-​down thrilled with this place. After a few terrible experiences at Inner Visions on the Ave, I became convinced that framing was a costly, stressful process. Aaron Brothers changed all that. Every single staff member I’ve talked to has been knowledgable and friendly. They have great solutions for saving money on framing (like getting a custom matte cut to fit a store-​bought frame), and they have suggestions for what looks great with your artwork. Most importantly, they realize that the stuff you take there for framing, no matter how silly to anyone else, is precious to you — and they treat it accordingly (heck, one guy even complimented my paintings).

Thank you for being SO amazing. I leave happy after every visit. Your canvas is the best around town, and your frames and prints never dissapoint.
My coworker was running all around town to find a silver small tip pen to finish her wedding invitations, and after going EVERYWHERE she could think of– I don’t know how she missed you in the first place, but she went there and found a great selection of caligraphy pens, fine tip gold and silver shrapies, pen sets galore, etc. that ended up working out perfectly.
This is just your all around frame/​photoalbum/​canvas/​artist store, and I am in love with it. Not to mention their location. They also have a Frame and canvas sale twice a year (july and xmas) where if you buy one frame or canvas, you get the second for a penny. I serioulsy STOCK UP on canvas and spend half as much as I would anywhere else. It’s so great and a painter’s dream.
I’ve had a couple things framed here and I’m not going to lie, it is a bit on the pricey side. HOWEVER, thier quality? Top notch perfection, along with their customer service which is friendly, informative, and non-​pretentious.
So, aaron brothers, THANK YOU FOR NEVER LETTING ME DOWN.

I walked into the Downtown store and was made to feel like an idiot immediately. I am looking to have a couple of prints framed, and as soon as I walked in the door, this big monster of a sales clerk pounced on me with the «What do you want?» look. As soon as I started asking questions about framing, this person told me flat out that I should go to Michaels. It seems that this store is more for the «artiste» as well.
They won’t see me or my money.
