Amazon.com Wedding Registry

i’ll say up front, i registered at
because I love
. no two ways about that. and in my experience, returns at amazon are easy and the PLUS side is that you can register for, LIKE, ANYTHING! and in theory, you can register for anything, and then you could return it and buy anything else.
NOT SO. amazon’s return policy for registry items is TERRIBLE. if any of your guests decide to have your gift shipped to them, and then bring it to your wedding without a receipt, let me tell you that you are out of luck. without the original receipt code, you are stuck with whatever you got. long conversations with multiple people at amazon customer service will do you no good in this department.
WORSE YET: imagine returning a gift that you think will be credited to you, and then getting an email from your wedding guest to tell you that they just received a credit from Amazon. wow, that pretty much tops the embarrassing record for this bride.
the snafu’s do not stop here, but i won’t bore you.
Amazon Registry still gets 2 stars because the many gifts I got through the registry were lovely, and if they could ever clean up their morass of a returns system, it would be a really great service.
