Anderson’s Comfort Footwear

I went here for my first pair of Dansko shoes for a new nursing job and I am so glad I came to this store. The owner himself helped me find the perfect pair. He used a shoe horn to put them on my feet, he took the shoes out in the back to hammer out an uncomfortable stitching that poked my heel, and he stretched them perfectly to fit my feet. He knew so much about shoes, I was amazed. For instance, he recommended I always wear shoes with laces rather than clogs because I have narrow ankles. Who knew? It was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I told him I wish I could tip!

This shoe store is up on First Hill but it’s definitely worth your time. The service is old school, meaning that they actually hold the shoe for you and help slip it onto your foot. On top of all that they’ll even weatherproof your shoes before you take them home. The selection of comfort and well made shoes is much better than the other comfort shoe stores and I’ve been to them all.
This is my new favorite place to buy shoes! Naots, Dansko, Cobb Hill, etc…

I am a person with a serious disability — rheumatoid arthritis for 60 years. Finding shoes that fit is a nightmare. I have spent endless money with little success. I went to Anderson’s Shoes on Madison Avenue in Seattle. I brought two pairs of shoes that I had purchased (one from them, one from another vendor) that were not working for me. I was greeted with a warm welcome. They listened to my story and said «we can help you.» They spent 90 minutes with me, making custom orthotics, including lifts in both shoes. I left the store with shoes that felt wonderful. Total cost — $ 30.00. Never have I been treated better. I give them my highest recommendation 5+.

My mother and I visited this store a few months ago and had the worst experience we’ve ever had shopping in Seattle. The owner, who helped us that day, was judgmental and unhelpful. We will not shop there again.
When we first walked in, it took ten minutes for anyone to say hello. When the owner finally rolled around, it took her at least ten additional minutes to find the shoes my mom wanted to try on (The store is very disorganized). While my mom was trying on her shoes, I was wandering the store. A man walked in wearing a kilt and the owner ignored him, turned to me and said, «How weird. What a character. I just don’t get it.» All I could say– especially since I was bald, wearing spiked shoes and had piercings, who knew what she said behind my back– was «To each their own, I suppose. He wears it well.» She left to help my mom find another size. After she had helped my mother, the kilted man wanted to purchase a pair of shoes. He literally stood in the middle if the store looking at her and said, «I’d like to buy these shoes,» several times. She continued to ignore him and fiddled at her desk. My mom tried to get her attention to let her know he was talking to her, then realized she was ignoring him intentionally. The owner went to the back and the man left. When she returned, she asked her employees very loudly several times if that man stole the shoes. She then started again on how weird he was with her employees, so my mom put her shoes back and we left. I hope I never see a person treated like that again.

What an amazing experience! Andy was endlessly patient with me, pulling shoe after shoe to find the right fit, then adding orthotic and carbon shank to each to help me make a purchase decision. He even gave me the shoehorn OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET to take home. I’ve wasted 41 years buying discount shoes off the rack. Being fitted and helped by someone who knows their product line inside out is the only way to go. Thank you, Andy and thank you Anderson Comfort Shoes!

I have terrible feet and had given up on finding comfortable shoes that had some semblance of fashion. Love this store! I’ve had three separate shopping experiences and have bought five pairs of shoes in total. The service has been excellent and I appreciate some of the smaller, less known brands they carry. I appreciate the 10% discount they offer to Swedish employees.

Second time visiting this store and not happy with the service. The owner was not at the store that day, as he was helpful on my first visit. When my group walked in, we were not acknowledged by any sales associates, even after looking around the store for 15 min. I had people with me that wanted to spend good money shoes that day.
Another customer came in and was helped right away. It wasn’t until that customer asked if we were next that Mike reluctantly helped us. He was not friendly and kept complaining to customers that it always gets busy after lunch and people wait to shop until after breakfast. The other female sales associate said nothing to my group and was not friendly as well. I expect to be greeted when I walk into an establishment at the very least.
Won’t be returning.

Danskos and Naots, oh my! While these shoes leave much to be desired, my feet beg for them. Very knowledgeable, and 10% off if you work on the hill.

It is a slippery slope when you tell yourself that an ortho shoe is kinda snazzy. Today you are wearing red patent leather Danskos, tomorrow you are on TLC’s What Not to Wear.
I have to remain aware of this, be fastidious in my avoidance of the ortho shoe during non-​work hours, otherwise this could be my fate. But at work I wear scrubs, so the Danskos are not the worst of my fashion problems.
They offer 10% off if you are a healthcare professional on Pill Hill, which is a nice gesture.
