Ballard Mailbox and Shipping Center is a private mailbox and shipping company, we have 24 hour access private mailbox available and provide forwarding and package receiving services. When shipping with us you can choose from three carriers: FedEx, UPS, and the United States Postal service. We also have a large array of boxes and packaging materials, so always feel free to bring your items in and we will pack and ship them for you!

History

Established in 1980.

Ballard Mailbox and Shipping Center is located in the heart of the historic Ballard district of Seattle. We are a locally owned and family operated business that is dedicated to serving our neighborhood, local businesses, and the surrounding marine community, including live-​aboards. We take much pride in providing the best customer service possible by maintaining an inviting and friendly atmosphere. When you ship with us you will be greeted with a smile and given multiple options to ensure your shipment arrives when and where you want it.

I am Nicole, Manager of Ballard Mailbox and Shipping Center. My family bought this well known Ballard business several years ago and continues to run it as an independent and locally owned operation. We take a lot of pride in continuing on a business and tradition that has served the local Fishing and Sailing community for over 30 years. We were customers of Ballard Mailbox for many years. When it changed hands we found the service and the employees to be unhelpful and also unfamiliar with mail box store services.
We gave up and took our business to the top of the hill. I gave them one more chance, and
was treated rudely and I couldn’t wait to get out of the store. Last try. Do not recommend.

I used Ballard Maibox for 12 years. Today I had an encounter with one of their customer that was a pea-​brain bully, accusing me of hitting his car, yeah, I was parking behind the the bully that parked his car in front taking up the full space where two cars can park. When I asked him to pulled forward so I could park he refused. When I exited me car after pulling up 2 inched from his bummer he started screaming that I had hit his car. I went inside to get my mail and he kept yelling at me, granted I was yelling back but when I tried to take his photo he grabbed my cell phone and refused to give it back, pushing me away when I tried to grab it. I asked the guys to call the phone they refused told me to call, like this guy his my cell phone and you aren’t going to help me? One of the guys there is very new and the other breaded guy has been there less than a year, not the usually friendly people. Since many of the of the long term employees have left the class of people and their ability to show respect has gone down the drain. I hope no one lives next to either of these to boys because if you need help they aren’t going to help.

Solid customer service, decent prices, convenient location on Market. No complaints. Came here to set up a business mailbox. Amanda was very helpful and efficient, even let me pick between available mailbox numbers while answering my many questions.
24⁄7 mailbox access is nice so I can come by whenever I’m in the area — you can even call them in advance to see if mail has arrived. A few nice perks. Straightforward pricing available on their website. Nice little local business. Though it is pretty small and when I stopped by there was only one (visible) person working, so I could see it getting crowded during peak hours.

We are small business who uses mailing services frequently. This store is in our building and for some reason UPS keeps delivering our packages to this store even though we have never requested this.
Today I tried to retrieve a package that shows as «delivered» online and the owner of the store tells me he doesn’t know where it is and he doesn’t have time to look. When I asked why it was being delivered here he told me to «Make sure you tell whoever you ordered from to tell the UPS driver to take it up to your suite.» This was a package form Amazon so needless to say that is impossible. When I told the owner there was no way I could do that, he tells me he is «Tired of us complaining about it and from now on he will refuse our packages». Which is actually fine with me because then they will come to our suite.
In the meantime, I don’t have my package. I have no way to get my package and the owner won’t look for it. When I told him I had no choice but to call UPS and complain he answered with «Fine, this is franchise, this isn’t UPS, go ahead and complain».
Obviously we will no longer be using this business. I hope he will refuse our packages as promised because then they would come to our suite. Anyway, he couldn’t have been more rude or unhelpful.

I LOVE this place. They are great. A million times better than Sip & Ship (which is a hot mess). I’ve had a box here for about 2 years and am so sad to give it up because I’m moving to a different neighborhood. I wish they had several locations.
The people that work here are great. Especially the girl with dark hair and glasses — so friendly. There is hardly ever a wait. They are very accommodating. I’ve always felt confidant that my packages are secure here. Thanks Ballard Mailbox.

I love Ballard Mailbox and think it’s well worth the extra expense over the post office. The line is always short or non-​existent, and you can bring in anything you want to ship, unpackaged, and basically shop for your packaging, cards, etc while you put everything together and tape it up. Then whenever you’re ready the helpful staff look at several different pricing options to help you figure out how to balance cost/​speed, etc and you can purchase everything all together.

I’ve tried several times to give this local spot a try, only to be continually bummed out by their not so friendly service. I feel like my children are not «that» welcome (feeble attempt at having a few toys out), but dogs are! Hmmm…
Although this is closer, I recommend going to the distance to the Sip and Ship. Think. I. Am. Done. Here.

For a very reasonable fee, Ballard Mailbox packed and shipped an extremely fragile cuckoo clock to an address across the country, and here is what the recipient (who bought it from me on eBay) said: «The packing job was AMAZING! I dont think a tank could run over and damage that package.»

I’ve been renting a box here for about 6 months now and am very pleased with the whole experience. The staff are always very friendly, always helpful. The prices are great and they offer all the shipping services ever really needed. Additionally, they post current and pertinent info on their FaceBook page, which I have found helpful. I could have rented a box at the USPS, but I do like to patron local/​family owned first and foremost.

This is where I get my personal mail. The staff is always friendly, and there is always a sweet dog to greet you at the door with a wagging tail. The staff is always quicker and more friendly they your regular post office, and I do think it is important to supoort a local business as well. I took away 1 star however, due to the fact that i believe i was overcharged for shipping a package. I did not realize it until my mom recieved the package and asked me why i paid shipping for a 25 lb. package when it only weighed 2. no wonder it was $ 60 to ship it. So only 1 star for that because it was partially my fault for not paying attention. other then that no complaints!

A friendly helpful staff. They cater to a lot of the live aboards at Shilshole Marina. If you have a boat, bring in a framed picture and they will hang it on the wall. Sure beats the Post Office.
