Bank of America

I’ve been a longtime Bank of America client and have enjoyed banking at b of a for a longtime but since moving to the northwest I have been throughly disappointed. The branches are dark and dirty and the customer service is poor. This branch on pike and 4^th is terrible. I waited 10 minutes to even ask someone about sending a wire. Then someone asks to check me in? Sorry folks, this isn’t a hotel or an att store.

Horrible bank I don’t even want to give it one stay. Very upset at the way I was treated.

I don’t bank with them but I needed to cash a check for my boss last week so I stopped in. I understand it might be annoying helping non-​customers but if you’re not going to be friendly, then please don’t’ ask if I would like to open an account with you. Why would I want to bank with you in the future, when you’re treating me poorly now. Plus, all I was doing was cashing a check, not some complicated transaction.
I was lucky enough to have Deborah «assist me». After I explained that I needed to cash a check, it just went sour from there. She was short with me, not rude or friendly, just as if I was a nuisance to her. Ummm sorry, I had to come here because the person who wrote the check banks with you sooooo you don’t need to write me off entirely. And hell no do I want to open an account with you when you’re basically being a B to me.
Thankfully, I will not need to come back here for a while if everrrrr…
If you want nice and friendly service go to Wells Fargo.

I have visited this branch several times and the staff is always quick to help me and meet or exceed my needs.

I wanted to convert my current credit card that I had for years as a college student into a rewards credit card. I was in the area and I thought I’d give staff at this BoA a chance .
Teller was nice to assist me when I said what I wanted. First manager of Asian descent came was was very nice and courteous and checked me in. Then came the nightmare.
He told me my wait was just going to be 5 minutes. It ended up being 20. He apologized, no big deal.
Then James Saarenas, the other manager of this branch sat me down. He asked me what I wanted, then asked me if I wanted to apply for another Bankamericard Rewards card. I declined and asked again what I wanted. He then proceeds to try to upsell me to ANOTHER credit card, the Alaska Credit card. He then decides to proceed with the process of signing me up for that card before I kindly declined, and firmly said I wanted to convert this credit card to the Better Balance Rewards card.
He clearly didn’t know the products at BoA because he proceeds to fumble around for a few minutes… and I can see him searching for the name of the card on the BoA website. He then walks up to talk to other manager and came back.
He discouraged me to convert my original credit card and told me to apply for another one. I again firmly said what I wanted, and he told me we’d have to do this from another office. He takes me to the next cubicle, calls a number, and asks for my zip code. Then he told me to be on the phone and left me.
I realized I was on the customer service line after a few seconds.
I called James, who’s about to help with another customer, and said I’m just going to do this at home instead of wasting my time here. He said «Oh yea, just call the number on the back of your card»
I’m very disappointed of this service. James Saarenas, If you don’t know what I wanted, please tell me instead of trying to upsell me on multiple occasions. You can ask me about that other card you didn’t know about instead of pretending you do. You should also just say «your time is better served if you just called since it’s faster» instead of not telling me and just putting me on a phone and make me look like a fool.
I’m sure the tellers are fine, but if you get a chance to work with James, don’t work with him.

The tellers at this branch are amazing, cheerful and helpful every day. I don’t know how they do it, since Westlake shopping area has a high ratio of a**holes.

I mean no offense to anyone at this branch. I want to be clear on that. I am sure they are very earnest, hard working folks trying to get from day to day just like me.
So here’s my opinion of this institution called Bank of America: it’s an abomination. If this branch is anything like other branches, then this whole thing should be taken apart piece by piece. BofA employs too many people and has too much assets to shut down, but it needs to be broken up into smaller, more manageable companies.
Ken Lewis who used to be the CEO of BofA was described as «dumb» by a guy who met him in Michael Lewis’ book ‘The Big Short’. That’s the kind of person who ran one of the most massive corporate bureaucracies in America and the world. It’s a glorious poster child of questionable management who were given free rein to build one of the most massive dysfunctional corporations in the history of the universe.
Other than that macro view…
This branch is so busy.
I put my name on the list to be attended to twice.
Because the wait was so long I left and told them I would be back.
When I came back my name was taken off the list both times.
They need to add more staff to this location. It’s too busy.
The third time I came back I was helped fairly quickly.
After I got back from the branch I realized I needed to make one more change. I went online and I tried to do an online chat session and this is the response I got:

That’s six different customer service numbers you have to call depending on your issue. Customer service should be one telephone number for a company. Like I said when I started, Bank of America is an abomination. It’s a hideously massive pile of red tape run amuck.
Why have one business that runs really well when you can have ten mediocre business units that pretty much function as completely separate businesses who don’t talk to each other. No thanks.

I tried giving this branch a second chance to redeem themselves and again they’ve failed miserably. On the first visit which was a few months ago, the teller had the audacity to announce my current balance and of course everyone heard it. NO TELLER has EVER done that. What a complete IDIOT. I was in a hurry that day so I didn’t have time to speak with the manager. So instead I called the branch later that day and it so happens that the manager was busy and «unavailable» for the next two days. You can tell the employees pick up the phone and try to cover each others asses. My second visit was today, I decided to give it a second chance. I was looking for a transfer slip and as I was looking, an Asian male walked by and asked if I needed help. I told him I was looking for a transfer slip and he responds in a condescending tone, «there’s no slip for transfers, you just need your debit card». At first I didn’t understand how that worked so I asked for clarification and he annoyingly responded in a condescending tone again «YES, you just need a debit card when you go to your teller, OKAY?» WTF. I told him I wasn’t aware of the new changes and gave him a complete dirty look. He then walked off to the back room. I then went over to the teller (this time a female) and she too was unfriendly/​condescending.
The people here are very unprofessional and conscending. NEVER coming back to this branch!

Downtown and BUSY! They are always on their toes at this branch as the lines can be long and the demand is strong. However, coming in for the Merchant side, it feels they focus on the consumer more. At times, as a merchant, we can wait in line for awhile yet take others from the main line who have just arrived. Focus on your big accounts first, then take care of the small things. The staff has always been VERY friendly and helpful. I keep coming back for the staff!

This bank branch is in a great location in downtown, since it is so close to the Westlake mall and a lot of office buildings.
The tellers are very nice, helpful and polite. The manager is a little condescending and comes off as «stuck up», but you don’t usually have to deal with him unless you have an issue that the tellers cannot help you with.
My main problem with this bank branch is that it is SO busy. The wait in line is usually around 10 minutes, but during peak hours (like 11am-​2pm, or 4pm-​6pm) the line can be horrendous. The tellers do try to work as quickly as possible, but since it’s the closest bank for most people who work in the business district downtown, it’s the busiest.
Other than the wait, I’ve had completely positive experiences here. It’s definitely nice to visit a bank where the people who work there are happy and talkative.

You’re in the middle of downtown and need bank services, so you decide to pop into the BUSIEST bank you’ve ever seen… doesn’t sound like the start to a good experience.
I actually hesitated once I got in the door… this place was swarming with people. I just needed to change my pin. The man at the front desk immediately offered assistance, took my name and offered me a seat. I sat down and watched as he conducted the in flow of traffic seamlessly. It was like watching an orchestra conductor. In the middle of this he came over to inform me that one of their bankers was just about done and would be over to help me shortly. Not but two minutes later a gal came and greeted me and helped me change my pin.
I was impressed to say the least. It’s a crazy location, with lots of crazy people, and he didn’t seem phased at all. Bravo BofA. Don’t lose that guy!

Have yet to come across a problem here.

I have a complaint!
It is difficult to give give any bank 1 or 5 stars because there are so many tellers but this review is based upon the my experience with the management at this branch. I can’t remember his name, but clearly he was in charge, a gentleman of asian american descent, and so I hope there are not more than one gentlemen of asian american descent in management because I really don’t want to falsely accuse anyone.
But you know, I was having a hard day, and I realize that they want you to fill out the deposit slip before entering the line so you don’t hold everyone up… but. You know. Come on. He pulled me from the front of the line, and led me over to the counter and then with a condescending air explained as if I were 13 and hard of hearing how to fill out a deposit slip. Then, I had to get back in the back of the line. It took 30 seconds to fill out the slip and he took no effort to even restore my place in line.
I was once a merchant teller at Wells Fargo bank and I did NOT appreciate his attitude. And I have had a few other experiences with this person, honestly. No real skill at customer service or any feeling that he was empathetic to the plight of the hurried customer, and yes, I was having a bad hair day and felt sized up and judged as a liability.
They have some very nice tellers here, too bad about management. I will try to update this later with the name of said irritating management.

Nothing special about this location.

All I can say about this location is that the tellers are always very friendly and efficient. However, the teller supervisor — or whatever she who does not have a direct supervisor who’ll deign to speak with customers hs for a title — is an obnoxious twit who would probably be deservedly beaten to a bloody pulp if it were not for the presence of armed guards and a wall of plexiglass.
